Agressive guards @ Fort Moonmoth

Post by Guest »

I have a little problem here. I just did the quest for the imperial guard at fort moonmoth, so i killed the "bad people", the Camonna Tong members in Balmora. I had a bounty of 5000 for killing them. I was heading back to that guy( can't remember his name ) so i had to get past some guards there at moonmoth, one guard spoke to me, couldn't pay the bounty, so he and the other guards attacked. I just ran inside and spoke to that guard, he gave me the present and removed my bounty. So, I thought: well completed, I headed outside, but the guards still attacked me :? , now, how can i stop them from attacking me ? I thought they wouldn't attack me anymore because I had no bounty but that doesn't seem to be so. Problem is that i haven't got a savegame quite near that situation ... so if I can solve it without playing it all over again, that would be nice .

If I remember correctly I used stealth to get past the guards and then speak to "what'sis'name" to remove the bounty.
Think it was the amulet you gain from another quest, yeah "Amulet of Shadows".
Hope that helps.

removing Bounties

Post by Doogie »

I don't know how to "mod" fix your problem, but if you decide to reload and try again, here is what I do.

Join the Thieves Guild. As a member you can sneak (or recall) there and get the Bounty removed for half-price. Also, if you can time your quests right, several of the Thieves Guild rewards are FREE bounty removal.

If you do that, then the guy at the Fort gives you an extra reward for your discretion (a book that raises a level in one of your skills).

Also, if you use taunt, and cause the bad people to attack you first, since you are defending yourself and will not get a bounty. Starting with the guy upstairs, then the girl in the basement, and then any of the three in the main room, get them to attack you. Then Larrius Varro (at the fort) congratulates you on your discretion and you get the Ring of Surroundings.

well to answer ur problem there is a way to get the ordinators at vivec to stop attacking you if u have their armor. it was on this site and they gave the consol code to remove their agressiveness from them. There might be a way to fix this. Try digging though the quest walkthoughs to find the thing him talking about

If someone's interested how I did it, I just ran towards the fort, and the three guards ran to me but i sneaked to the left and went over the low grass hill in front of the fort and i could get in the fort without much trouble because they were all standing outside...

I was scared enough to keep my distance from guards, so I managed to find another way - in SW corner of the fort is a rock if you climb on it you can jump over forts' wall, then climb down trought trapdoor and all the way down to Varro. Only thing that attaced me was that cliff pterodactyl thing.

Sometimes if you leave an area where people aren't "supposed" to be attacking you then come back, it will reset and they will all leave you alone. This has happened to me a few times - I accidentally hit The Good Beast in Bloodmoon and it was trying to eat me. So I Divine'd out of there, bought a calm creature scroll, but when I got back to where he was he had calmed down and was fine.

I suppose he reflected on his actions, saw the error of his way and attempted to make amends. Stupid polar bear.

I'd be interested to know how to remove ordinator aggressiveness. If anyone digs that up and posts it here, I'd be much obliged. I can't even show my face in Mournhold anymore.

Here is how to stop ordinators from attacking the console way:

"ordinator stationary"->SetFight 30
"ordinator wander"->SetFight 30
"ordinator wander_hp"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_high fane"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_wander_hvault"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_wander_tvault"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_mh_stationary"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_mh_TBasement"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_MH_Sadri"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_mh_TH_UNI"->SetFight 30
"ordinator_mournhold"->SetFight 30

If you want to you can get a plugin at Planet Elder Scrolls. Search for Ordinator or Indoril.

This was from the Hints article under Morrowind on this site.

more on the imperial guards. since i faced the same bug (they were supposed to calm down but didn't).

the other day i played and used chameleon to conceal my self. after they attacked me. they suddenly went calm again and i shot an arrow into one guard. I had a bounty of 4credits on my head. and i was expelled form the legion. so i payed the bounty. but then they became agressive again.

anyway after beating them up i unknowingly spoken to some sargent or smth. an he told me "where is your uniform? talk to me when you are serious" eventhough i was expelled from imperial legion. this is even stranger than guards attacking an imperial officer (me).

Another funny thing with this disposition thing - those rogues you find in the wilderness and they attack you. but the strange thing is if i manage to talk to them by walking up behind them and talk to them their disposition is 56 and are happy to talk to me. same is if i am "chameleoned" but as soon as i approach them from the front or when i move away from them they attack. that's a bit bizzare as well.

same thing happens with that guy in underwatter cave in Ebonheart. i talk to him we had a nice chat, he explained what he is doing there etc. then i said goodbye and he attacked me (despite his previous high disposition towards me).

it seems that the mission i took at forth moonmoth really messed things up.

Hmm why didnt' i think to use my shadow sign to escpae the guards??? huh... :cry:

Seems to be a widespread issue

You are going to find this is NOT just a temporary problem. I too had a bounty of just 5023 from that dumb quest. I used an invisibility potion to slip past the guards the first time and to report to the boss. That appears to not have mattered.

Forever it seems, some Imperial Guards will attack you and some will act normal. I wasted 2 days trying to get around this - poking around in the TES even.

Unfortunately the only solution that works is kill them EVERY time they attack. They respawn so next time through that city or fort you just need to kill them all again. I guess some good training, but what a pain

i believe the ones that are branded as "guard" attack you while the NPC's that actually have names they refer to you as if you were still in the legion. Either way i advise against that quest unless you already have the frenzy human spell and make those commona tong people attack you first. that way you don't get any bounty (i think).

oh and only guards that are imperial attack you (which is even stranger).

ok... to answer your Question about the guards... there set in a loop... Any Guards you Told "Resist Arrest" to... Will attack you EVEN AFTER you got your bounty removed... This happened to me once... I ran to the thieves guild with Every Guard In Balmora on my tail... so I ducked in the guild... removed my bounty... and then came out... and was Promptly Killed by them... so just kill the Few guards outside of the Fort... and you will be fine... But you will have a Renewed bounty... so Just go to the Guild and drop all your money infront of the guy that removes your bounty ((All but 1g that is...))

then BAM removed for 1g

btw... The Assassins attack you always... I mean You can talk to Ashslaves if you want... doesnt mean when your done talking to them they dont try to kill you... It had nothing to do with that quest... Though If i were you Id try to avoid guards all together... if your on the PC... a Simple

-Player->setPCCrimelevel 0- will work wonders ((No - - on them))
