killing trolls

Post by denzil »

Hi all,

I'm having a very frustrating time killing trolls. I'm level 6, block of 72, blade 44, and light armor 77. I can defend against them forever with healing spells, but can't seem to hurt them. Do they have massive hit points or immunites to weapons? I must have hit the thing 30-40 times and they don't die. The help file says they have 12 times my level, but I hit the thing more times than I can count and it doesn't die. Help!

Try a weapon enchanted with fire damage, or a fire damage spell. All trolls have a 50% weakness to fire.

Trolls regenerate health, so if you're taking too long in between slices you won't get anywhere.

It must be the regeneration thing, but they still seemed tough. I'm using a steel shortsword. I'm saving up for a magical one.

Thanks for you help everyone.

Yeah, but I can't seem to survive unless I block with my shield. Knocks me back and real fast. So I need to wait until he tries to hit me and I counter attack

Hmmm...have you tried standing within his attack range, then when he attacks run backwards out of the attack range, run forward and get a few slices as he recovers? It's harder, but allows almost constant attacking with few hits.

BTW, I've always found trolls to be the hardest things in the game (when you first start seeing them)

Yeah, try a fire spell, it really sets them aflame and eats quite alot of their health away.
And don't buy a enchanted weapon. Just complete some quests, there's and abundance of them on mobs or as rewards.

Your weapon is probably damaged and your strength is probably low. Up that [&@%!] then hit a [&@%!]!

I just realised, when in the Fighters Guild in Anvil, go to Azzans office and there will be two enchanted steel weapons (At lvl 1); a fire blade and a ice mace. 'lend' theese, and you've got two free enchanted weapons. Note that if you aren't a member of the guild it will be considered theivery. If you are a member, however, you can also take the steel shield in a display case on the 2 floor. Actually a quite good set of weapons, acompanied by the steel amor in azzans office. Not that all of thise can be taken if you are a member of the Figthers Guild, and i got it at level 1, so should be worth the while.
