All I bothered to eat was a small dinner-plate's worth of food.

Wolf, we have so much in common. I've just written a fairly sarcastic (but still meaningful) post about grammar on another forum...Wolf wrote:But I am!
Blue, your "your" in your sentence is erroneous; it is "you're" when you're wanting a contraction for "you are"-- which, in this case, you do-- , and "your" only when you're wanting to express ownership.
Being English, I don't celebrate thanksgiving.

I ate so much yesterday its ridiculous. I ate the following: turkey w/ gravy, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, corn, 2 different kinds of stuffing one of which had italian sausage and mushrooms, mac and cheese, 2 different green bean casseroles, broccoli casserole, a different type of mashed potatoes, peas, brownies, and a slice of pumpkin pie.
That was all in one sitting. I was picking away at anniposto or anti posto or whatever the hell its called. Lucky for me i am the greek god of metabolism.
Oh mrs t, when pbjs arnt to be had, go to the grilled cheese.

Actually, I wouldn't mind a thanksgiving dinner right now. I'm hungry but I can't figure out what I want to eat now that we're out of peanut butter. >.<
Still, Sweden = No Thanksgiving
Poor, poor non-americans
Eh, I'm sure you have some holiday to make up for it
I know! Next year I'll invite all you non-Americans to my house! Maybe then we won't be stuck with enough desserts to fill swimming pool!

We had a pretty good Thanksgiving this year. For the first time 10 of Ma's 11 siblings (luckily Pa's an only child) were able to make it down to granny's for the holiday. So we got our first near-complete family portrait in fifteen years.
I got to see some of my cousins who hadn't been around in years and we were all amazed at how much we'd changed in the time apart. There was a lot of "you've gotten SO big!" going on. It was nice to catch up with them, though. Some of the youngins - who'd been 3-6 the last time I'd seen them - were into their teens now and most actually remembered me from when I was forced to babysit them all those years ago (before the family scattered to the four winds).
The three turkeys and two hams that folks brought were devoured in less than an hour, but I managed to wrestle away some turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green-bean-casserole, and broccoli rice for myself. Didn't find the cranberries until it was too late, though
. This was the first year that I actually managed to control my portions so I didn't feel stuffed for the rest of the day. Afterwards there was a lot of celebrating the Dallas Cowboys' victory followed by a lot of stumbling around.
All in all, a good time was had by everyone. So, Happy belated-Thanksgiving to y'all both in and out of the States.

Dare I ask what that is? What broccoli rice is?
