Unless you have a PC and download player-made mods there's no other way to make money in the game. Selling, stealing, or exploring are the only ways you'll earn.

Selling, stealing, and adventuring are the only ways to make money.

If you don't mind selling things then you could make money off skooma trading. You could get some skooma then dupe it to get a bunch. Then sell it. Some people I suggest selling it to are Oghash gra-Magul, Shady Sam, and Nordinor. Here's a list of all places you can find Skooma: Skooma Locations.

I can see you really want to have a "job" in the way you sell a service and not random loot.

May i suggest roleplaying the following jobs (and checking out the roleplaying forum here:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying)
(most of these your gonna want to have high personality for)
Farmer:

Harvest crops and make some into potions and keep some crops.

Sell them to bars and general store merchants.
You can live here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Shetcombe_Farm

Smith:

Collect broken armour from others. (through theft or just find armour and declare someone owns it) and repair it. Give it back to them after being repaired. Get your payment via pickpocketing or the console.
If you need lots of money sell a rare piece of armour to a armour merchant.
You can live here or be a traveling merchant: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Houses#Imperial_City

I'd check the wiki for more in-depth guides.

It depends what kind of experience you want from the game. If you play the game and dupe to make money that’s fine you payed money for the game and deserve to play it how you want to. I personally don’t dupe, fast travel and i have the camera in First person the whole time. If you play like me quests, guilds and dungeon diving are the best ways to make money. If you like the more role playing approach you could play as a treasure hunter going after precious Varla stone's. They are quite a good way to make some money if you know where to sell them, and find them 1000 septims each. I'm not sure how many there are tho?

Skooma is derived from moon sugar, they are not quite the same.
Help? Help with what? They don't make a cure for stupid. You'll just have to play through the game all over again. - Butterknife

Y'all, J'Ghasta specifically said not selling, following guilds, adventuring or stealing. So far, most of y'all's suggestions involve one or more of these.

As I said before other than using mods, there's really no other way to earn money in the game.

It is an adventuring game, not a wall street trading game, you're not giving us much to work with here..

you can gain loot by sending out your pirates to plunder and your dark servant to murder which technically isn't on the list, although I don't see how you can buy all of the DLC upgrades without getting your hands a bit dirty.. you could amass a fortune by being very lucky with your arena bets, presumably you have a bit of money from the training dungeon?

what about mining silver and gold veins, collecting gemstones and diving for pearls. You could amass a fortune in precious things and hide them under your bed. Money is just a token representing wealth anyway, you could have the real thing :D

There are scrolls in the Mehrunes razor plug in which make all nuggets carried more valuable, you could cast that on yourself every now an again to make your shiny pile even shinier

Making money is easy, if you ask me.

If I were you, I'd pay a visit to the Imperial City Arena.

If you don't enjoy fighting, steal from stores in the market district at night (potions are worth a lot)

You could also go to Shetcombe Farm and harvest a bunch of ingrediants (it has 258 "food" ingredients as well as many others). This way you get the ingredients for free. Some other places you can get alot of ingredients are listed on this page: Ingredient Locations

You can have the most recent update and still do the glitch. Paralyze him and while he is paralyzed do the glitch.
