I think some of us will just never let go. This isn't the only forum I'm still hanging around in defiance.

They did take my avatar in the update, though, and I'm almost afraid to fix it. It still technically exists, and I can see it on my account page when I go to edit it. It just won't display.

Feel like messing with it would be a sin at this point. Like it's still there in spirit.

I'm glad to still have my old avatar. Out of curiosity I did look around to see if I could even find it out on the web but not remembering the artist or where I found it, it's practically impossible. Must've grabbed it off of DeviantArt (rip, I miss that place as well) back in the early 2010s. At least it lives on on here.

As someone who literally just made their account a day ago, this feels like its lost media or something. Or like scribbane said, like seeing the last members of an uncontacted tribe. Its kind of crazy seeing people in here who have their account created as far back as 2008 still posting.

I've always been an elder scrolls geek but I never stumbled upon these forums until yesterday. I did rely on UESP Wiki for lore and sometimes elder scrolls fandom but i never really met like-minded people in my life who liked TES. So I thought I might as well give this a shot, just to see it filled with spamposts. It's sad to see this old gem deteriorate, but I hope in the future that it will be active again.

And glad to see all of you OG's still kicking it

Actually kinda funny to think about. It's one of the very few ancient places online where I still have a presence I can still access.
This was a home for me online for a few years a long time ago, the time between when I pretty much stopped coming here and now is so much longer than the relatively brief amount of time I spent here, but it's still a time I remember fondly that was very special to me.

I'm sad you didn't discover this place earlier, it was an absolute blast some decade and a half ago, and I myself remember joining up in 2010 and seeing people with accounts from 2008 and thinking they were almost intimidating with how much longer they'd been on here than I had. Silly to think about now.

Oof, getting a bit emotional about this stuff. Hope everyone who hung out here back in the day know how special they made this place.

I thought I had opened up this website relatively recently but it turns out my last post was 3 years ago... It is nice to log in though and see some people posting, like a high school reunion or something.

I don't think forums are coming back just because internet culture has moved a different direction, it's not compatible with long-form posting like this. It's also what makes the discord hard to engage with, it always felt very culturally different. For me the central life of the forums was RPs & those just did not survive the transition to short-form (and, us all growing up and our time being compressed)

But I think it's nice to know for a time that we had this place

It's a little bit sad to think about how many conversations happen on places like Discord servers that risk shutting down very suddenly with no way to recover them once they're gone. While I haven't done any real deep dives, there is something reassuring about the fact that all of the nonsense I was spouting on here in my late teens is still around and I could go get a peek into the kind of person I was back then.

Though I guess I don't know how well internet archive stuff works for forums like this so maybe those will be gone as well if this place ever fully shuts down.

Unrelated but we're only like 19 pages from the big 1k in this thread which is kinda wild since it's now like 12 years old. Wonder if we'll get there.
