Having two sections for each forum (suggestion)

Post by BlackArrow »

I'm not sure whether or not this has been posted before.
I was thinking it would be a good idea to have the oblivion and morrowind sections of the forums split up into two categories- Questions and General Discussion. Wouldn't this make it easier to receive answers to questions that people ask, and have discussions about the games in a different section? Its just an idea.

"If it isn't broken, don't fix it" is the general consensus, and while I'm normally against that statement, here it makes sense, it's a load of extra coding, possible slowing site times down and everyone has to learn a new layout, while it would be good, it would be more trouble than it's worth.

Now, now, adding 2 forums take a lot of coding.

Simply:

Create subforums int he Morrowind/Oblivion forums, one labeled Discussion and the other Game Help. You can choose to move all posts to a chosen forum. But if you're going to try and move all questions to the Help forum, you'd have a lot on your hands.

Note: It should be in phpbb2, how do I know this? Look at the bottom of the page.

Please don't do it, I beg you.

The forums were created so new players could ask experienced players questions. That people use it to make polls or have discussions is something that's tolerated and not initially intended. There are some of us who believe that these "discussions" have devolved into simple banter and are threatening to flood the forum with needless SPAM. So when someone asks for a split forum so they can post "discussion threads"... what we hear is, "Hey can we post our SPAM in a special forum? All these valid questions are getting in the way of our witty, needless commentary."

Alas, what discussion would be a discussion without witty, needless commentary?
