I was feeling weirdly nostalgic, probably because today is my actual birthday. Literally half my lifetime ago I made an account on these forums. For a long time I called this place my internet home. Over the years, my bookmarks bar gained bills and utilities and mortgage sites. I fall asleep watching the news and literally take pills for bad knees. Other adults now refer to me as sir. But the UESP Forums bookmark has stayed in one little corner of my browser for 17+ years and I'll continue to roam around here from time to time.
Home is behind, the world ahead.

Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow

I hadn't even realised but it's only a couple years until the same will be true for me, in terms of making this account when I was half as young as I'll be soon. Spooky stuff. No knee pills yet though, knock on wood.
Also happy belated birthday! Here's to many more

Re: General Discussion
Kalle, nice to see you as well. And I appreciate the birthday sentiment. It was very quiet, which these days is a gift itself. I'm hoping for at least a few more trips around the sun. At least long enough to see ES6.
I imagine some of us oldtimers around here will flock back here for ES6, if for no other reason than morbid curiosity. Like others here said, Discord isn't quite for me. I was never too big on the chat rooms back when they were all the rage back in the 90s and still don't do well with them now. I find it to be the digital equivalent of trying to have a conversation in the middle of Times Square. No thank you.
i will say, despite working with high school students every day, it hurts my soul to think that those in the prime to discover and enjoy ES6 may possibly have not been born when Skyrim came out, let alone any of the older games. Nearly 15 years ago, we all gathered eagerly on these forums and disucssed the first trailer for Skyrim. Anyone who stumbles upon UESP will look at us the way we might look at the last remnants of some tribe from deep in the Amazonian rainforest.
Ack, I'm rambling again about old man [&@%!]. Ah well. Maybe 3 posts in the last 2 weeks will trigger the spidey sense of some of the others from the last few pages who will make an appearance again.

Re: General Discussion
Yeah, it's crazy to think that in barely a handful of years (and a year is a surprisingly short amount of time these days) I'll be twice as old as I was when Skyrim released. I still go back and play it every other year or so. And honestly at this point my faith in the triple-A games as a whole is kind of in the dumps so I'd probably be pretty skeptical of a TES6 release anyway. I'd still play it because obviously but it's hard to get excited about big releases these days.
And in a way I guess TES6 is in a bit of a Duke Nukem Forever situation where the expectations are gonna be through the roof when it actually comes out and they'll never be able to live up to them. Also looking up the Duke Nukem Forever dates I realise we're close to a longer wait for TES6 than the wait for that game. Crazy times we're living in.

Scrib I miss you too. I think you're put together very well and I wish we could've been IRL friends. You're a good person and I hope life is rewarding you for being who you are.
Re: General Discussion
Oh man we're almost kinda semi-active in here again, huh? Nice to see some familiar faces about.

Re: General Discussion
I live a laid back, relaxed, lifestyle these days. I don't drink anymore unless it's some special occasion and even then not much. I've been taking classes online and at the moment I'm job hunting. I'm always busy doing some project, like at the moment my main focus is refurbishing my little shed area, it was trashy earlier and I hated it. It's a lot of work but I'm almost done now. Last year I rebuilt the front suspension on my truck. So there's always something to do.
And then I have the back-burner projects like improving my coding, Spanish, misc electronics projects, and of course my garden. I still see my old friend group but it's more like I visit with them occasionally so that we keep in touch. They're my friends and I love them but those people are crazy and I don't want it rubbing off on me.
Not much more that I can think to say. Life is good, world keeps spinning.
Beta how have you been? I hope all is well with you. Are you still cooking up lots of amazing dishes?

That was such an in-depth answer, considering I already knew all that. Lol. But it’s nice that everyone else does now too.leroybrown wrote:I live a laid back, relaxed, lifestyle these days. Re: General Discussion
I officially got a Ps5 for the very first time. And while im happy, i find myself staring at it like was this worth it? What do I even want to play? Should I buy playstation plus? At the store i felt like a kid on christmas, then i turned it on and was like....uhh, what now?

What the heck, just popped in here to see if anything was going on and turns out the place got a makeover for the first time in... I guess ever? Gave me a startle, this place has looked identical for at least a decade and a half and now it's all different :0

Re: General Discussion
The funny thing is that we got a forum upgrade... To more than decade-old forum software. Last time I saw this style of phpBB was probably 2012.
Also my avatar is broken now because it was done with some weird stuff that clearly is no longer supported. Oh well.
EDIT: Oh my GOOD LORD please go to your profile and check the list of default avatars. Especially anime and avatarpack. These are absolutely incredible and they NEED to stay forever. This is the best thing to ever happen to this forum.

Re: General Discussion
As someone who literally just made their account a day ago, this feels like its lost media or something. Or like scribbane said, like seeing the last members of an uncontacted tribe. Its kind of crazy seeing people in here who have their account created as far back as 2008 still posting.
I've always been an elder scrolls geek but I never stumbled upon these forums until yesterday. I did rely on UESP Wiki for lore and sometimes elder scrolls fandom but i never really met like-minded people in my life who liked TES. So I thought I might as well give this a shot, just to see it filled with spamposts. It's sad to see this old gem deteriorate, but I hope in the future that it will be active again.
And glad to see all of you OG's still kicking it
