The Five Vampires...

Post by Neurotic »

...in the Gutted Mine, that you have to kill for Azura. Well, is it just me, or are they [&@%!]-hard? I'm a level 7 Battle Mage at the moment; full Blades armour (with a couple of magic pieces), and that first vampire is absolutely kicking my arse into a billion tiny, bleeding, fragments.

Really, she hits as hard as those bloody painted trolls. Am I just completely crap, and have managed to fluke my way through the game so far, or is the combination of the 'sliding difficulty' and this vampire chic making things obscenely difficult?

I wonder, because I can run the entire height of an Oblivion tower, grab the stone and defend myself for ten seconds from the dozen or so mobs that chased me there, whilst the thing blows up- but this one vampire chic is caining me!

LOL you just don't use poisons :D
I played this at level 9 but the poisons were made at level 6 or so and they don't grow stronger over time, one dose of 'elemental' or 'anti-mage' in sneak mode and every vampire was kicking the dust in matter of seconds :)

Yah, i gotta say i kicked the [&@%!] out of all of um, didnt even wait or anything, but i was good at restoration (Nord) and a good fighter. Just a question are you more battle or mage? Mages will bring um down better, as vampires resist normal wepons. Also use fire attacks thatll show the basterds!

Get an enchanted weapon that does fire damage. If you cant get one, just use fire. Lots, and lots of fire!!!

I did this one last night. I found a couple of the vamps pretty easy and a couple of them pretty tough. I tried to lead them outside into daylight, but it had just gone dark, so I ran all the way back to Azura's shrine with them in pursuit to get some help from Azura's followers..

By the time I'd finished 3 vampires and two followers lay dead at Azura;s feet. The unkillable guy just ran off after being knocked unconcious a couple of times.

Azura didn't mind at all I'd got her followers killed and happily gave me the star

I lured all of them outside one by one, during the day, and it didn't seem to make any diff at all to them. Vamps at much higher levels have been burnt by the sun, but these ones didn't even seem to tan.

I got help from Azura's followers on one of them, another one I had only partially damaged, when he landed up killing himself while trying to follow me down the side of the mountain. Apparently vampires can't jump!

I just did this one last night. Two Vampires were hard, two were easy. The first one I met put up a good fight, but I eventually meleed her to death, with the help of some potions. The second one, the female Orc, was a biotch. Took me several trys to get her. I ran out of the dungeon and headed to the shrine for help. I think two vamps followed me. The orc finally caught up to me and the followers of the temple didn't help much and I died. I kept loading up and fast travelled back to the mine. The orc would show up right as I loaded at the entrance. I used a bunch of potions, and kept hitting her w/ shock at 10mp per cast. That helped. After about six tries I finally got her. I am a lvl 4 Khajiit battle mage. More battle than mage though.

I think the one other vamp that followed me out of the cave eventually ran into some scamps since there was an oblivion gate nearby. I only killed four of them, and I couldn't find the body of the fifth. The quest said that five were dead, so I may have to go look for the body when I get home tonight. They all dropped some nice enchanted weapons. I don't want to leave a nice item lying around somewhere.

There were two left behind the secret door. The first one went down in one shot from a poisoned sneak arrow from behind. The last one I did the same, but he had heavy armor on and didn't go down so fast, so I used the block, cast shock, drink a lot of potions and occasionally melee tactic. I eventually won. Only needed one try for him. You can use you map to find out where they are located in the mine. So you can time your attacks and not draw two on you.

So yes, the vamps can be hard, daylight doesn't seem to bother them. Run them out side to get some distance and space to fight them in. Use poisons, enchanted weapons and cast. Bring lots of potions. Save at a good spot before each fight, because you may need to reload a few times.

Good luck.

Ivan.
