Daily reminder that the time between now and Skyrim is greater than the time between Skyrim and Morrowind.

I am old, UESP. I don't look it, but I am beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts. Well-preserved indeed! Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread. That can't be right. I need a change, or something.

And, I literally do remember when there wasn't a welcomes and goodbyes thread, forget the uphill both ways bit, it wasn't even here haha.

There's a strange sort of melancholy I feel looking back through these forums, looking back through user names that used to frequently pop up when the whole General Discussion section was just beginning. It's a bit like finding an old year book and seeing pictures of people you knew long ago. Or visiting an old work place or school after hours. Seeing how quiet the forums are is odd to me. It's crazy to think that more than a decade ago, I frequented these virtual halls more than I did almost anywhere else. Though I didn't join when I was as young as some members did, the UESP still feels like a very formative part of my life. Looking back through the old lists it's crazy to see that out of the members that joined before I did, truly only a handful or two are still around and active. The users that I got to know as a lurker that encouraged me through their knowledge of Morrowind, before I had Oblivion, are basically not here anymore. The UESP was my first real foray into an internet community, and essentially still remains my only real online community and its with an odd nostalgia that I look back on my time here.

Eh, don't mind me. There are a lot of things changing in my life and I couldn't help but reminisce. With the discord being the new way of forum-ing, I guess I'm a bit like the guy at the old west saloon. I'll stay seated in the corner, sipping my warm brown rot-gut, watching the new-fangled automobiles roll by out in the street. And should any of the old riding posse stumble in for a drink, there they'll find me still, with an open seat and a glass for them.
Pm otw my friend. Im generally not on the net anymore but ill send you my info.

You couldn't make our wedding day
Too sick to travel
You fell between a friend
And a father

I owe you dinner, man
I owe you something
You talked to me
Like I was inside
We were just waking up
For a hard
Interrupt

I meant to get to you
On the turning
Things sneak up on me
Like a landslide comes

Been saving email trails
Kept together
I read them back sometimes
To remember
The time I wrote to you
From the island
Your quick replies
Made me high
I had fear in the room
So I stopped turning up
My hands kept pushing down
In my pockets
I’m bad with people things
But I should have tried more

Been watching images
From the station
Earth one from satellites
All streaming
Feels slow at seventeen thousand miles an hour
You could be anywhere
On the black screen
On the black screen
On the black screen
On the black screen
On the black screen

You could be anywhere
On the black screen
Oblivion is my playground Image Morrowind is my home

Awww, Cass... I'm sorry I never responded to your other post. I rarely log on to the forums these days because not much is happening here anymore and I must have missed seeing it somehow. I didn't mean to ignore you and I'm glad you're still around as well. It's nice to see some of the other old-time regulars still post here from time to time too, but let's face it, the forums just ain't what they used to be. One of these days I might try out this Discord thing, but don't hold your breath... I keep meaning to and then something else comes up that I have to deal with first...

Anyhoo, I'm still doing okay and surviving in these crazy times and I hope you are too. And I promise I'll do my best not to miss another reply from you. :sweetroll:

Cass!! You came back and saw my message. I'm so glad. I'm happy to hear you're still doing well. I just returned to work this week after a 7-month hiatus (don't ask). And for me, it's Oblivion that sucks up all of my free time at the moment... you don't want to know how many hours my current game is up to... (400+)

Every year I mess with Kerr by posting about Saint Patrick's day but instead calling it Paddy's day. Its tradition by this point(tho she would digress)

That's whack, I think that's like more hours than all my Oblivion games combined. Not a bad game to be spending your time on, though, in my humble opinion.

Hey Wolfborn! Thanks, yeah, I pop in from time to time to check things are okay. I would never forget forum-land. Too many cool people I have met here!

Likewise, it was nice to see your posts around when I popped in, and a few from others too.
Yep, I am doing good, thanks. How are you? I see you have just started working again; I hope the hiatus wasn’t due to anything bad (other than that pandemic thing, of course). :-x. Hope the job is going well.

I suppose there`s a melancholy to be had in assuming people are just doing something more important than being on forums. I would also think that many of the original users are quite possibly no longer among us, it`s a very old series after all. Though personally I think the decline in activity is due to the decline in conversation. I dont have the stats but I daresay that Skyrims release saw an enormous swell in activity and honestly there just isn't that much to say about the game beyond opinion pieces or mechanical help. I suppose generally what im saying is that perhaps people just arent interested in TES as they maybe once and who can blame them after so much time has passed since any meaningful additions to the series (No offence ESO). I know myself I no longer have time to frequent the web as much as I had in prior years. I was 15/16 when skyrim was released. My priorities in life just dont hold gaming all that high anymore and I`m probably not alone in saying that. Who knows, when VI is released perhaps more activity will come again...Perhaps...

*Pops into forums to go down memory lane rather than going to sleep*

There was a ton of activity back when Skyrim came out. I should know, I was part of the wave. ESO is TES's main product these days, since Skyrim came out closer to Morrowind than the present day. I haven't been on here in literal years, so I'm not surprised that trend is happening with others.

I'm pleased that the mods haven't changed much in my absence. Still Aarah and Alarra, Beta, who I think was a TPM last time I was here... Time flies. Now I'm just a ghost of forums past.

Apologies to literally everyone back in the day, I was a whiny hormonal teenager back then. Hoo boy am I embarrassed looking back.

[Edit] Oh my gosh I've had so much nostalgia looking at the names that have posted in this thread on the last few pages. I think the last person on the forums I had contact with was Deandra years ago on ESO. Dang, can TES6 just come out already?
