Tamrielic Adventures: Vol 3

Post by BetaB17 »

The days seem so much more quiet now, time itself wanting nothing more than to savor every precious second, like a life well lived. The candle light flickered as she parted from her seat followed by the soft creak of wood as she walked away from her desk. In the soft glow she could see her study and the shelves of books and tomes alike, till she stopped just near where there was a gap just fit for a single volume. "Back you go now.." a soft voice said as she slid a book into the space, the cover reading as The Void Nights

But as if from the very back of her tired mind, she heard a threaded string as if some unseen hand had pulled it taunt, before suddenly crashing to reality. A book had somehow fallen from her shelf and landed upon the dark floor. "Oh dear, why you gone and done that now" The old Altmer reached down to pick it up, dusting it off as she brought it into the warm glow of light "Now what do we have here.. Tamrielic.." her hand settled lovingly on the cover, as a wave of nostalgia washed over her. "My.. how could I forget you?" A lone tear strolled down her aged face, Niralie could not help but smile. Tamrielic Adventures, the very name etched on its leather cover.

Still holding the book against her chest, Niralie made her way out from her study and into the darkened halls of her residence with but only a candle keeping the night at bay. Entering her bedroom, she gently placed the candle on her bedside table, taking one last chance to look fondly at this record of the past. She sat down upon her bed, thinking back how well the lives of her old companions must have been. Valentia, Eolwyn, Grelok, Nora, even Arellius and so forth. How she wished to maybe have one that chat with them all, but alas she was always to outlast them. She brushed the cover of the book one more time before setting it too on the bedside table. "Maybe tomorrow we could catch up okay?"

Slowly she nestled herself into bed, her eyelids grew heavy as the candle struggled to stay alit. "Tomorrow, surely" she thought, and as her mind continued to drift, the shadows around her gaze seemed to crept ever more, like sleep beckoned her ever more. There was something she swore she was forgetting.. someone important.. someone like... And there it was again, that peculiar sound of a thread, and.. and, she could have sworn she just saw Dorian now, by the foot of her bed. Was that who she was forgetting? The image of him seemed to smile back at her, her drifting away seemed so inevitable. But this image.. Dorian.. seemed off. As darkness loomed more and more around the borders of her mind, he seemed to fade into a black ink, replaced only a robed man with a book. But she couldnt care as she drifted ever further away, the last thing she could see was the warm candle glow snuffed by the night

"Forgive me.. I promise to make everything right.. I promise" his words echoed through her thoughts, cast in moonlight

Then slowly, something stirred her, the soft rustle of a wagon's wheels and the smell of dry hay. In a waking lull Niralie stared out the back of a wagon, warm sunlight shining down as the dark corners of her mind washed away. A field of green as an imperial road loomed over the hills and ever more. She must have dosed off during her travels. Her hand still rested on a book, something Tia had written about their adventures some years ago. But she could have sworn that.. but all she could recall was was this passing dream she had, and a promise from someone. It felt like..

As she stirred behind the wagon, she looked across to the couch, an elderly bosmer held the reigns to the steeds "Ah, awake now? Good, we're not much farther from Chorrol now ya'hear?" She nodded her head back, no need to trouble herself too much. Just as well to enjoy the warm sun and the passing country side.

Its been five years since that day, and as the sun rises to its peak this summer's evening, a new journey readies to begin anew

Introductionary

For any unaware, this is the third installment of TA as originally made by Mars and continued thanks to the efforts of multiple other DMs over these years. For the first time though, the main RP will not be hosted on the forums but instead in a private discord server, with the Co-DMs of this effort being done by me, Velvet, and Alarra.

Same rules and format applies, and with this OP, sheets can now officially be accepted. Please do not post in this thread

Chapter 1: Shadows of the Past

The evening sun warmed the very streets as people's lives were bathed in it's light. Simple, beautiful lives with each a story of their own. Unaware they be of the looming forces in play. The day was Middas of Sun's Height circa 3E423. Five long years since..

Stepping from her wagon, Niralie would find herself at the southern front gate, besides where so many travelers have found themselves before. To her side was the stables, many of horses stationed within, two of which looked vaguely familiar before quickly having her attention snagged by the wagon's coachman, an older bosmer man "Dont be forgetting your goods, miss" there was still a small crate in the back of the wagon, supplies meant for the local Mage's Guild Charter

Elsewhere, a door was half hinged to the summer's air as a young man readied to step out. Artiel could hear his mother call to him not a moment too soon, like he was but a boy still "Before you head off to the Guild, mind bringing your father is lunch? That is if he hasnt already spoiled himself that be?" She held him out a bundle of two lunches, enough to fit two sandwiches worth "There's another for you too dear" Artiel had the choice of taking the front Northern Gate, or take the longer walk to the South Gate near the Guild halls

Inside the walls, the market stalls were bustling with activity. From her tranquil spot beneath the Great Oak Tree, she could see the people of Chorrol enjoying their evening. Workers were heading to the taverns for a quick drink while bardic tones played in the city square. The striking of steel as the blacksmith toiled his labor. A band of warriors clad in assortments of armor sat idly around the entrance to the Fighter's Charter as if waiting for one more to finish their party, a hearty laughter could be heard from them enjoying their time all the while. Azhani could see plenty, and enjoy much. Even the local tomcats paid her no attention, keeping much away as if even they knew better than to mistake her for something so trivial

Not too far, within the Hall of the Mage Guild, Ravel was much too busy nose deep in a book, but not busy enough to see a young and spiritfull mage make her way towards the door, clinging to her newly made staff with glee and reckless rush "I'm heading out to Yjorn and the rest!" From behind a counter, an Altmer dressed in robes beckoned back to her "Off already? Take best care then, and dont let them tease you too much okay?" She nodded her head yes, and with grin on face, she departed the building.

"Was that just Lil?" The Guildmaster, coming down from the stairs, his tail brushing across each step "Yes, she had a joint request remember? She'll be gone for a few days" Teekeeus rubbed his scaled chin "Shame really.." but before he could continue his trail of thought, the arcane sigil in the center of the room began to glow before a black clad dunmeri figure stepped out from the vanishing portal. "Ah! Master Teldril I presume? You're here earlier than I expected. We're still waiting for the rest of the supplies to arrive."

Elsewhere on the other side of the city, a barbaric warrior could help but catch the eyes of people as he strolled by. Looking out into the main square, a trio of bards carrying away their melody, to all, even the guards pleasure. And across from them, the Grey Mare, which seemed lively like a tavern ought to be. But none of that seemed to stop Rohan from pushing open the hard wooden door and into the tavern of his choice

Inside The Oak & Crosier, the evening day as brought a fair crowd. Decent folk alike enjoyed their wines and meals while attended to the hostess. A gentle music could still be heard, even if the melody was carried from the outside. Raynor was still seated at a table, just in time to see a newcomer stroll in, with an all too familiar face

All but a wall away, a peculiar mage was just scrolling through the local bookstore before trying to head out, finding herself being followed by the owners dog, and clearly not some sentient rug "Thunder, please" before being called back by its owner. Vari could look back and see the owner bid her farewell, though to where next was for her to decide

Meanwhile into the streets, a hungery hulk lingered by the blacksmith's quarters. The smeltering heat coming off his forge made the main room uncomfortable to all but those destined to her wears. Ongor was taking his admiring the craft, the rolling of a grindstone before the redguard paused to wipe the brow of sweat "See, it's not that hard" she held up his steel war axe, newly sharpened. She leaned over the counter "Lets just say.. I'll add this to your tab. And next time, you'll be sure to treat me to a meal, what you say?"

In a less heated environment, cold ale and hot food was served alike amongst the denizens of the Grey Mare. Loud and merry, with little to buffer the music from outside. Enjoying much of many flatteries, a dunmer lass sat upon a bench just outside the crowded hut, not that it has stopped people from taking the bar outside within their own little patch of a yard. Nepharie was riding high on the sea of bliss, with drink and music and attention all alike

But she wasnt alone in this. Slowly managing to shuffle her way into the Mare was someone far from it's regular sorts. Clad in dark steel armor the likes even an Imperial Knight would envy, let alone all but the most esteemed Fighters. Bird was more than just a fresh face, clearly having to battled life and death to get a drink alone, she was far too easy to spot by the likes of a privateer
