Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I bought the Skyrim Special Edition, with whatever graphical doodads that entails. Plus, it has the Dawnguard DLC, so I'll meet Serana for the first time (and I might as well say goodbye to lots of innocent townspeople after the first vampire attack).
Yah hear that, Todd Howard? You got my $50, now you can hire one more person to speed up the release of TES VI!

Powered my Smithing up to 100 so I could make Dragonscale armor and a Dragonbone sword, enchanted with soul trap. I named it Zahkriisil ("sword" and "soul" in dragon tongue).
I cannot wait to start killing the crap out of everything with this sword. I'm legit giddy over it.

So in unpacking my house, I did it. I threw/pulled/whatevered my back. Can hardly move, let alone do anything useful. I have reached the height of old person status, and will be sulking on the sofa for the rest of the day.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
That's an answer in three parts.
Philosophical Avron answer: "Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God," as Kurt Vonnegut says.
Polite acceptable answer: My dad was a Marine.
Real answer: Well, at least from the vantage of the 20-something moves of my childhood, ironically just because we weren't very well off. We just went where the well wasn't dried up yet. This time, I just wanted to be out of the South.
I am a little out of routine with running but looking to get back to it. Even got a bike! The things one can do when not in an oppressively hot area!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Haha what's with this forum and everyone preferring the cold? Heat doesn't bother me but the bugs that come with it can.Avron the S'wit wrote:The things one can do when not in an oppressively hot area!
I took ~1 year off running due to injury. I want to get back into it because frankly I'm out of shape. Anyway one of my favorites was running in the most brutally hot time of the day. I'd go literally during the heat warnings. My favorite part would be coming up to a 4-way and see cars with windows rolled up, a/c on full blast while the driver is smoking a cig. Maybe [censored] I know but when I see folks like that and compare it to what I"m doing at the time I just give myself a pat on the back. Honestly part of the reason why I do this is my health is so shoddy it's nice to be able to do stuff like this when health is cooperating.
My only real concerns for running like that was how much sun I was getting. I'd use sun screen but it would come off due to sweat and it'd get in my eyes which stings a bit.
In other news my wacky brain thought of this:
How cool would it be if someone made a little Zelda Link to the Past type game that revolved around these forums? You have to protect the lands of UESP from the evil wizard Monty the Monetizer. There would be smaller boss fights like Captain Content Aggregation, Lord Adware the Attacker, etc.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Quite a lot has happened. Most importantly, I have a bedsit, signed the tenacy on friday and using it as a place to stay atm until the loan and deposit is sorted out. I can't tell the council until that is processed as they may give me a loan to cover it. The place itself is decent, a bit grubby and a lot of work needs to be done. Sink to be disinfected along with wiping down worktop and same with the fridge. Need to get rid of the chair and bed(both are too big and the chair is grubby). It's stuff that has been left behind and I want to make the most of the space. A camping bed is ideal as it takes up little space and a folding chair is better. No proper lock, i mean, there is a lock but I need to speak to my landlord tomorrow about it. I think my hotwater tap doesn't work and yeah, just a lot of work. Not complaining, I'm happy to have a problem like this. I rather have all these issues then be sleeping rough.
Visited a vintage car rally today, took some photos. Got a kettle from a colleague from the bookshop and hopefully, by the end of this week, repairs, carpet etc.. will be planned to be srted out. Got KOTOR II twice. Physical disc is defective thus got it on GOG and kinda was bigger then I thought it be thus needing to top up net tomorrow. Also accidentally signed up for 6 shifts this week, not complaining. I am happy to work 6 days in a row at the bookshop. I just didn't keep a track of it.
On Universal Credit now and gotta make all my cash last until the 20th. Got a meeting next week abut commitements and yeah, that's it.
Once the move is properly done, gonna to do a massive cull of my belongings, books and DVDs mainly. Got waaaay too many and clothes are on the list.
Kinda recovering from the effects of being homeless, mostly being tired and feeling lightheaded at times but that is wearing off atm.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Very forunate and I am grateful for it. Just disinfected the sink, may have gone a bit overboard but better safe then sorry. Just been sorting bits out during the past week. Once the carpet and furniture are gone, I can start to get the rest of my stuff in and then, do a massive cull. Getting a slow cooker when I can and will use that to cover most meals during the days I am volunteering. Hopefully, Univeral Credit will allow me to pick jobs that aren't really viable by themselves.
So yeah, that's it.

Today I'm once again going on the TTC alone. There are really few things that stress me out more than this. ;^-^

TTC = Toronto Transit Commission. Typically used to refer to the Toronto subway system; may also refer to buses and/or streetcars.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Wolfborn's got it! Though I actually ended up not having to take the TTC, and just took the GO train/bus (don't ask me what GO stands for, I don't really know).
I really don't know? I'm just always worried that I'm going to go the wrong way or miss whatever I'm supposed to take (which actually happened today and wasn't that bad). Like, when I think about it rationally I have nothing to stress about, but I do.Wolfborn wrote:Out of curiosity, why does this stress you out so much?

Ah, gotcha. I understand where you're coming from. I used to feel that way sometimes too when I was younger, and I still do now sometimes if I have to go into an entirely new and unfamiliar situation.
My first thought was actually whether you had safety concerns, hence my question.
Oh, and GO = Government of Ontario.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Yaya, it's something about it being so unfamiliar. Especially as someone who has almost always lived in the country, it's extra new for me.
I think safety concerns is probably the usual reason people would be stressed, but I actually feel p safe on the subway. People don't usually scare me a lot.
And thank you, I figured the O was for Ontario but I couldn't remember the G.
