I just had a dream I was looking at the instruction booklet of The Elder Scrolls VI: The Elves.
I know, stupid title. But the first section of the booklet were pages of concept art and scenery paintings of Valenwood. And I was getting the impression other elven lands were going to be available either as DLCs or subsequent standalone releases (as if they were putting the finishing touches to Morrowind and Alinor).
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Been having dreams of seeing the world. I think this means I need to take a vacation on a cruise again, or go somewhere outside of the country.

Other than that, I tend to have my usual audio dreams where I'm listening to songs or even composing my own. It's odd like that, even when I dream, I'm still composing my material. Just. Can't. Remember. What I did.

A few days ago I had a strange vision.

I was in my bed when beings of light came to me, I willingly left my body and was transported from his three dimensional world to a higher ethereal plain of existence and was greeted by a figure seven feet tall and extremely good to look at. I knew that his name was Lord Ashtar Sheran, and He was the commander of the Ashtar Command constantly working day and night to protect our world from negative extraterrestrials.

He said unto me: "You have been chosen for a great task, know your place and help humans in their ascension. I will always be with you."

I am positively a starseed.
I laid low your warriors of old. I instilled terror in the hearts of men. I AM KING UNDER THE MOUNTAIN!

I recently had a dream that I was eating a large submarine sandwich, which I guess makes me a sandwichseed.

Although Freud would interpret the dream slightly differently...

I had a dream last night where I was in the garden with my family and in the sky we spotted a strange looking planet the size of the moon.
We were 'wowing' at it, but then it started to get bigger and we realised that it was coming closer and was going to hit the Earth.

It collided, a massive planet that struck somewhere, such that we could still see half of it.
Instead of decimating the Earth, the force pushed Earth out of orbit and our planet began to travel through space, away from the sun.

We went past the moon, and we were all aghast for several minutes.
We realised that travelling away from the sun would mean that Earth would freeze and that we were all going to die.
In the dream I started to think of all the things I hadn't done yet, and would now never get to do.
My family and I all started crying because we knew we were going to die and that we'd never see each other again.

It still makes me really sad to think about now.
Some things we just don't think about irl, because they can be depressing, or because we can take things for granted.
Sometimes dreams really make you think about life, as well as make you appreciate what you've got.

Or do you mean that you dream about other people and then in that dream, the dream you is a jerk?

Supposedly everyone and everything in your dreams represents something about you, in which case your sister is you and her behavior is your behavior. (Personally, I take issue with this approach-- I mean, maybe it's true sometimes; but all the time?) So maybe you behave that way sometimes but don't see it, so your subconscious is using your sister to objectify it to help you see how annoying the behavior is. Or maybe it's a peek at an alternate reality where your sister really does behave that way. Or maybe you get annoyed with your sister at times but feel you shouldn't because you don't really have good cause to be annoyed, so the dreams are giving you a stage on which it's okay for you to become annoyed with your sister because it's clearly justified by her behavior. Now take two scoops of ice cream and call my office in the morning to schedule our next therapy session. ;)

Thanks for the dream analyses; I found them to be most interesting.
I think I'm pretty aware of how annoying I am at times, so I don't think it's the first option. :D
I think the third option may be true at certain times, but hey, that's siblings for ya!
Maybe it's due to getting older, and it's a subconscious look back to how she used to deliberately do things to get me riled when we were younger.

Does anyone here have reoccurring dreams?

I have occasional dreams that involve my ex bosses, but they aren't the same dream.

I sometimes have dreams that have the same recurring themes. One of these is about driving my car and trying to find the right interstate. I'm driving through a large city that has several interstates going through it, and I get on one of the interstates, but as I'm going up the ramp I start to worry that I'm taking the wrong one. The dream may then merge into another recurring theme, which is literally about "back seat driving." I'm driving along-- maybe on a city street; or maybe going through the countryside on an interstate with woods to the side and in the median, often going uphill and then looking down the other side-- and then I realize that I'm sitting in the back seat instead of the driver's seat, so I reach forward to try to steer the car while trying to climb into the front seat to work the pedals, or maybe I'm not able to reach the pedals even though I can see I'll need to hit the brakes to slow down and avoid hitting something or running off the road.

I used to think that this was a bizarre and unique dream, but then when I was taking a poetry appreciation class in college I was required to write an analytical review of a book of poetry by a modern poet of my choice. Having literally no idea who to write about, I went to the college library and happened across a book of poetry called The Compass Flower, which I immediately selected by its title alone. And as I'm reading through the book I came across a poem in which the poet talks about traveling through the countryside with friends, past vineyards and such (if I remember correctly), having a grand old time, and then they all realize that no one's driving the car. :)

That's surprising that the dreams are so similar! I was going to say that maybe you were the poet in a past life, but turns out that Merwin is still alive, so it can't be that. :P

I've never had a dream like that. The only driving dream I have is that I am absolutely crap at driving, or the car just won't behave and is going all over the place.
I definitely know the reason for that one, though; I always worry that I'm going to make a mistake when driving, and I'm not the best at driving either.

Re: Dreams

See, my interpretation would be different. To me, a dream about driving is about navigating through life circumstances.

So in my case, dreams about not being in the driver's seat (and no one else being, either) is about sitting back and letting circumstances lead you along-- i.e., being more passive than proactive. I definitely haven't been very proactive about planning which way I want my life to go, actively steering it in that direction, and applying the brakes or gas at the necessary times to make things happen as planned. So in my case, dreaming about getting on an interstate and then, as I'm driving up the on-ramp, worrying about whether I've taken the correct turn or have mistakenly gotten onto the wrong interstate is about major choices-- should I have studied to become a this rather than a that, should I have taken the job with company A rather than with company B, etc. And dreaming about realizing that I'm in the back seat rather than in the driver's seat-- or occasionally I'm in the front passenger's seat-- and then trying to drive from wherever I'm sitting but doing a lousy job of it and nearly crashing the car, is about worrying that I'm not being proactive enough and that things have gotten so far out of my control that an attempt to regain control might make things worse instead of better. (Oddly enough, the car seems to be driving along just fine on its own, and it isn't until I realize that I'm not in the driver's seat that the car starts to weave or veer due to my attempts to regain the wheel and work the gas and brakes.)

Likewise, to me the poet's dream is about coasting through life enjoying his success as a poet-- in the poem, he and his friends are having a wonderful time in the car as it drives through the countryside and past vineyards (which suggest the idea of "fine wine" and hence "fine living"); and if I remember correctly, when they all suddenly realize that no one's driving, they don't panic and don't try to regain control of the car, which suggests that he isn't worried about how his life is turning out.

Then again, these days dreaming about not being in the driver's seat might be a more literal dream about one's self-driving car!

In your case, I think dreaming about being "absolutely crap at driving," or about "the car just won't behave and is going all over the place," has a similar sort of meaning-- but instead of being about passively coasting through life and responding to situations that arise rather than proactively taking control, in your case it seems more about wanting and trying to be in control, but feeling frustrated when things don't go as planned, and that even though you're trying to steer things this way, they keep going that way instead. In one case ("absolutely crap at driving") you might feel that you aren't as skillful as you think you're supposed to be at controlling the way that things are going; and in the other case ("the car just won't behave") you might feel that you're doing everything you're supposed to yet things still seem to veer out of your control.

Another possible interpretation of car dreams is that the car represents your body, in which case problems with the car-- leaking fluids, faulty brakes, a loose steering wheel, flat tires, etc.-- could represent a health problem of some kind, or worrying about the possibility of a health problem of some kind.

Wow, man, like, that is so totally rad. :D

I really like all your interpretations, Gruff. They sound logical, indeed. I never thought about driving dreams being about things other than a dislike/ ineptness for driving, but that is much food for thought, you have given.

Have you done dream analysis in the past or read up about it? You seem to have insight on the topic.

I've read a few books and articles over the years. But you have to be careful with those "dream dictionaries" that you see in bookstores, because most of them have questionable interpretations. The thing is, some dreams might be symbolic of deeper meanings, but others might simply be about your everyday life. And symbols can mean different things to different people. So if you take some dream you had and look up each of the details in a dream dictionary, it might give you some crazy interpretation that doesn't really fit your dream. :)

I have a similar recurring dream where I'm back in high school but I either can't find my locker, don't remember the combo, am in the wrong class, don't know what class I'm supposed to be at, etc etc etc. I know what it means and would take a mini text wall but it has to do with issues/regrets from high school that I have trouble seeming to let go. That being said this recurring dream doesn't happen as often anymore.

I have lots of driving dreams but they're mundane since my life more or less revolves around cars. For example a common dream is one where I'm simply driving around in my former pickup truck. It was a full size stick shift (Ford) and the truck I have now is a small automatic (Toyota). At times I wish I had my old truck because now I sometimes need a full size for work and my little truck really struggles, it can be unsafe at times and/or just a general PITA.

The one unpleasant driving dream I can get is where I'll be driving on a bridge but the incline is extremely steep and the car will barely have the power to make it over the bridge. If I had to guess as to what this is about I'd say it's nothing to do with driving but with my life in general: I often have to do things I absolutely dread and I dwell on such things too often. Intellectually I know I'll make it through whatever it is but it sucks/is scary and I don't wanna do it. I think this dream is a byproduct of my (bad habit of) dwelling on future events I absolutely dread the thought of.

I do have good recurring dreams too. Mainly where I'm vacationing in Europe again. That being said there's a somewhat recurring negative version of this dream where I'm traveling and I forgot my epilepsy medication haha. Honestly wouldn't be the end of the world I'm sure europe has depakote but still would be nerve racking for sure.

Another (almost always good) recurring dream I have is where I'm in what I call Moonside Jax. Basically it's the dream version of my city. It's oddly very similar in the sense of layout: everything is in similar zoned areas so residential, commercial, etc is typically in the same place in the dream as in real life. In a couple of the dreams I even visited the military base and graveyard near where I used to work. Exact same locations just physically extremely different. 1st street (in real life) is very touristy now but in my dream it's like old school atlantic city.

Haha one day we need to make a similar/different list between the two of us. Not a lot of gray area.

I think I wrote about this years and years ago in this very thread, but when I dream, I always dream of a seaside city in the mountains. Every time. Sometimes the people or the purpose is different, but it's always a city, on the sea, in the mountains, with an open boardwalk/market. It used to drive me insane trying to think of why I had this dream so persistently, but now, it's been for so long now that I think if I ever dreamed of anything else, I would be very worried. :o

Agreed. I think it's definitely possible to over-analyse a dream. Sometimes it can be that you've just watched a film about spiders and therefore dream about creepy crawlies.

@leroy

That incline dream sounds like it's very much so what you have deduced.

@Avron
Maybe it's somewhere where you are destined to live in the future.
