Build Tweaking in preperation for Summersett

Post by Maxrebo »

Its been a while since I last played ESO,I had taken a break after finishing The Morrowind Chapter when I had only group boss left to kill and I couldn't find a single person to help with it several days in a row plus I had other stuff I wanted to focus my attention on.Then I took awhile to getting around to buying the DLC that had come out since then including Clockwork City. Now with Summersett I've been wanting to pick it up again especially to do Clockwork City so I am all caught up story wise. But the issues I know they tend to do a lot rebalancing via patches or when DLC or Chapters are released and the Build I am using is an Earlier Version of this one https://tamrielfoundry.com/articles/nos ... al4man-tg/ from when Morrowind came out.

Though the equipment I am using was from back before they nerfed one the traits which I had spent all that time researching to get.Not to mention all the material and tempering materials to make level appropriate set gear. Not sure if they also nerfed Torug's Pact and Julianos which what I am using.Plus my character is a Breton not a Dunmer since I wasn't thinking of that when I first got the game plus that's what I tend to like to play as.So its safe to say I am definitely not using best in slot.A lot of which is found in Trails,Maelstrom or Veteran Group Dungeons which I am ill equipped to even bother with not to mention how nerfed Dragon Knights are nor did I know about how good provisioning was when I started and barely bothered to level it.

So I guess the question I want to ask is:Is it even worth it to continue on with this Character if it is I was planning on using a build from this site https://alcasthq.com/ ? If its not and I were to start over again it would be on the PC Version either NA or EU Server leaning EU as a Breton Magicka Sorcerer using a build from the site mention earlier.

Keep in mind that I don't really play PVP nor do I really care to,if or when I ever go to Cyrodiil it will be pretty much only for the PVE Content and Skyshards.Currently I play on PS4 using the EU server because that was the only one I could log on to on release day and I wasn't starting over again on NA.

You sound a bit like me in that I mainly play solo and haven't gotten into PvP action yet-- at least, not by choice; I've gotten clobbered in Cyrodiil and the Imperial City because I got ambushed by other players. And as it happens, I'm playing with a Breton Sorcerer.

My personal feeling about my characters is that for now I'm happy to keep them as is, despite any questionable choices I've made when spending my attribute, skill, and champion points. To me, a large part of the fun of The Elder Scrolls games is playing however I wish and not worrying about things like "builds," "best in slot," and all the things that other players seem so obsessed over in Elder Scrolls Online. I'm not saying those things don't matter when it comes to forming effective 4-player groups, or engaging in PvP action; but for the way I like to play, those things don't matter to me-- at least right now. I suppose I'll eventually reach a point where I'll need to think about either respeccing my character or starting a new one-- but my inclination is to start a new one, because I enjoy replaying a particular game and doing the same quests with different characters.

Anyway, I can't tell you what's best for you, and I'm clearly unqualified to give you sound advice since I don't pay attention to all the important things that veteran ESO players do when building a character, assembling a best-in-slot set of gear, etc. But honestly, I laugh to myself when I see some new player posting questions in the chat box about the best race to choose for a given class, or the best gear to get, etc. It's just a game, for crying out loud, and the idea is to have fun playing it! But if other people want to play the game like it's rocket science, then that's their choice and it's none of my business. Still, if I were in your shoes I think I'd continue playing with my existing character for a while, and not worry about starting a new character unless it became apparent that my current character just couldn't cut it. And then I'd carefully consider whether to start anew or just respec my existing character.

Another primarily solo, PvE player here, and I have to concur with SeaGtGruff: take the skills and abilities that feel right to you, and you can worry about respeccing later, if at all. I'm a role-player, so I tend to write stories for my characters; this also means that there are many skills I don't use, or at least not yet (still in my alliance's first major zone, though I have done some running around in Cyrodiil, mainly because Oblivion was my first TES game, as well as my first major RPG (I had previously played one other RPG, an online, single-player Lego game), so I had to get my fix of nostalgia), due to the fact that they don't fit with the character and their story I've created. For example, my current character is a male Nord Templar, who embodies many aspects that TES fans associate with Nords: he wields two-handed weapons (with a preference for battle-axes and mauls), wears heavy armour, prefers stamina abilities, and specialises in blacksmithing, with the occasional point into Soul Magic (he's not afraid of using magic and enchantments, so he uses Soul Trap to keep his soul gems filled, plus he's still developing, so he needs a little help staying alive from time to time with Soul Summons). While this is an MMO, and, thusly, decisions about skills and abilities are more crucial than in a single-player game, this is still TES, despite some questionable decisions on Zenimax's part, meaning that you're still free to play the way YOU want to play; don't let ANYONE ELSE tell you otherwise (indeed, this is really a basic foundation for a good video-game no matter what franchise or genre it is). You want to play a rampaging berserker that would sooner kill someone with their highest-damage weapon or ability than speak a civil word to them? ESO gives you those in spades (and, trust me, with all that killing, you're going to need spades and shovels to bury all those corpses ). Having trouble staying alive and need a little extra healing? With the latest patch, Update 18, more class abilities will heal you (and possibly nearby allies, too), meaning you can take down the toughest foes the game can throw at you and live to tell the tale as just about any character.

Also, I play on the PC European megaserver, and I'm a member of a really great, extremely friendly, very casual guild called ESO Family. We're small, only 14 players at this time, about 5-8 of which are actually active (counting myself and the guild leader, who's on just about every day in the evenings UTC/GMT; one other guy is on around the same times as the guild leader, and one or two others come on occasionally; I'm on all day, though I'm actually in the Eastern Time Zone (I play on the European megaserver because I had bad experiences with the crowd on the American PS4 megaserver), so it actually looks more like I usually start playing in the early afternoon going by the Universal Time Clock/Greenwich Mean Time). If you would like some really great, friendly people to help you with whatever you need, be it levelling-up, dungeons, bosses, PvP, or even just getting to one particular area that you'd like to visit, I'll be glad to give you an invite; just send a mail to @AgmarTheUnrestful (or Torvald Way-Farer, my current character) or to @Delgeo and tell him Agmar sent you!

To the Moderators: I'm sorry if that last paragraph sounded like a guild advertisement, but the OP was also asking for help deciding on which megaserver to play on, so I thought I would offer a place for him to build up his character.

I think I will respec my character do at least Clockwork City and later try to grab the good armor set that drops in Stonefalls I believe that's good for magicka Dragon Knights then enjoy Summersett and maybe later try to improve further.I am also likely just gonna also start a character on PC on the EU server for pretty the much the same reason as you, despite in the Northeastern US I would much rather play on the EU server than NA since when it comes to gaming and online communities I tend to find that I can't stand playing with my fellow Americans since its devolved into a toxic waste dump of people being horrible. Where as my experience on EU server has been fine.

Well, I play on the NA PC/Mac server, and I'm trying to make it a more friendly place. :) I crafted someone a Nirnhoned Bow for free one day last week, then crafted some set gear (Shacklebreaker and Night Mother's Gaze) for a couple of players at bargain prices, because I'm not trying to make a ton of gold by selling my loot and crafted items at the going rates (which seem outrageously steep to me). But I always use enough temps to get 100% chance of success, and between improving my own heavy armor and greatsword to legendary quality, and making legendary Shacklebreaker heavy armor, I've used up all of my blacksmithing gold temp and need to work on accumulating more (I've gotten 1 so far). But aside from crafting gear and telling people to feel free to lowball me on the price, I'm also willing to drop whatever I'm doing and go somewhere else so another player can port to my location-- as long as I'm not in the middle of a crime spree or a quest!

Good luck with that, and thank you for being willing to do it! My current character is going to become a master crafter in the end, and I imagine I'll do much the same thing you're doing now. I also won't ask for a tonne of money, as I imagine by that time I won't have much need for it (I mainly use gold to buy inventory and bank space, with the occasional purchase at guild stores, especially now that I've unlocked the Champion system and I'm gaining levels like there's no tomorrow, so it's hard to keep up my crafting skills to make level-appropriate gear to keep up with the game's challenges). I also agree with two of your other points: the going rates are outrageously steep, and, although you didn't necessarily mention it specifically, drop rates for gold-coloured/Legendary-quality items, especially tempers/improvement materials, could definitely be better. Like you, I'll gladly give people free rides to where-ever they need to go, so long as I've discovered the place myself (believe it or not, I still haven't made it out of my alliance's first major zone, in the current case at the time of this writing, Stonefalls).

@maxrebo: You're still welcome to join my guild, if you would like. All are most definitely welcome!

When I start a new character who won't just be an alternate for holding my excess inventory, I was thinking of doing it on the EU server so I can truly start fresh-- no housing, championship points, and all the stuff that applies to your entire account instead of applying to just a specific character.
