My status says I am a criminal. How do I alter that?

Re: criminal status
I've never played Daggerfall yet, but according to the following page the title of "Criminal" means that your regional reputation is between -40 and -20. Based on what that page says, it sounds like you'll need to successfully complete some quests to raise your regional reputation. For more information see the section near the end of the page about "Restoring Regional Reputation."

Re: criminal status
There are only two ways to help your legal blemish... the main one is time (each month your rep moves 1 pt toward zero, so this could take a while) and the other is that there are like 2 quests from merchants that can increase your reputation with the law (but they are hard to come across, it's just luck of the draw). Best to keep your criminal activity to another country or, you know, don't let the cops nab you!
You're too late. I gave the job to some spellsword.
