Woot! That's awesome. I actually got Skyrim from a thrift store, in exchange for a broken item I had to return.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Oh, sweet autumn child, you know little about Charity shop/Thrift store bargains. You may have adopted them as your ally but I was created by them. Molded by them from the age of 17. I got many bargains throughout the years and intend to seek out more hidden gems in the future. That and it may or may not be the sole reason why my collection of books expanded.
But never.ever.underestimate. The power of charity/thrift shops! Oh yeah, I am very passionate about how one can get the unexpected bargains. Most of my clothes are from charity shops.
Heck, once I have a job, it's monthly/weekly looking around for bargains time again.
As for what happened to me recently? [&@%!].NOTHING.
14 jobs. Most rejected or nothing heard back. Frustration levels rising. Worry levels acclerating, Dovah starting to tear himself AHPART! Or frustration levels are rising a lot. God, i hope the ad i put up on a room renting site solves this [&@%!] situation of having to look for a place t live. [&@%!] lack of....arrrrrghhhh!
On a much more positive note, erm..... Red Dwarf is back nexxt thursday and i intend to watch it? Yeah, little to nothing positive is going on in the life of the Sheodovah.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Thrift stores are so great. One day I was tired of not having a personal style/fashion sense of my own besides the boring t-shirt/jeans approach, so I walk to the nearest Plato's Closet and just buy like 10 flannel shirts for like $25 USD. Now I look like a hipster lumberjack/member of Nirvana on the daily.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
One never knows what one can find in a charity/thrift shop. In the future, I'm likely to reinstate a weekly/monthly trip to every single shop for search of bargains(depending on budget etc..).
It does annoy me whenever some charity shops are more expensive then Primark. I mean, i know they have targets to meet but come on, £4 for a basic shirt? I can get that for £2 in Primark.
Anyway, during the weekend/friday, kinda felt like [&@%!] due to life. I mean, I just did not want to do anything and couldn't help but think about how [&@%!] I am. Fortunately, that mood has subsided for now. Bloody hope next week proves to be fruitful. However, I dare think that someone will contact me regarding a room soon. The advert got a few hits last week and that was behind a early contact premiun thingy(Not my choice but tis how the site works where for 7 days, users of that service get a 7 day advance to contact ads and landords.) It would be real [&@%!] nice if I get a job this month. It would be cutting it bloody close but if I had a job, it would be a lot easier to rent.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
My buddy and I went check out a potential apartment on Saturday and it was awful, so we took a hike.
While we were passing a pipe back and forth on the bench outside where he's staying now and just killing time before I headed back home, I noticed a for-rent sign on the spot literally right next door, so I called out of curiosity.
Because the spot is right down the road from my university, is in pretty good condition, is a stone's throw away from the local police station (literally, if you threw a rock hard enough you'd break the window of a police cruiser), and just generally college-student-geared, I expected it to be pretty expensive, or even taken already.
As it turns out, not only is the place open; rent is only half of what I make in a month if my friend and I split it.
So I may finally have my own place by Friday and I'm so excited!
Honestly, I haven't been this happy about life in a while. I'm getting a place of my own, which means peace and privacy to do whatever I want to do as an adult. I feel genuinely wanted for once; I have a girlfriend who loves me (for some reason haha), I have a bunch of fraternity brothers and friends with whom I had an AWESOME heart-to-heart with that made my voice and thoughts feel important, I have finally been taking care of a mental illness that had long plagued me without a name to it, and I'm almost done with school.
I forgot what it was like to be this pumped about being alive. Granted, some things still suck (looking at you, United States politics and social policies), but I'm trying to think on a small scale of just myself and the people I love. In that way, I'm set, and I'm excited about the future.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So erm... something that has never happened to me before, occured today. I. Got. A. [&@%!]. INTERVIEW!
It was from a company I applied for last month and my details was passed to the recruitment manager. It's for next thursday. I. HAVE. A [&@%!] INTERVIEW! Please let this be the [&@%!] one. I mean, it has to be a good sign that they contacted me first, right? [&@%!], now I will obsesse o... [&@%!] it, i'll take obession over nothing any day. INTERVIEW! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! And I know, some folks may think "Dude, calm down, it's an interview." but really, you don't understand. I struggle to get interviews. This could be it. I could finally look unemployment in the eyes and really tell it how much I hate it in the most british, passive aggressive way possible before kicking it in the groin. What? I really hate being jobless.
I'lll curb my enthusiam.
I mean, it has to be a good sign that they invited me based on my CV, right?
Right?
*starts to think negative things* SHUT UP, Negative Dovah! I'm just messing around here but yeah, I kinda am seeing Negative Dovah return and no-one likes that prat. Not even me.

Yey! Dovah got an interview! Good luck for next Thursday! Hope it goes great.
I bought a witch's hat for halloween. It's velvet and was only £2, so I'm pleased with that.
The fit is a little weird, but hey, it's cheap, so no bother.

You purchased Velvet and turned him into a hat!? you utter witch! No wonder the mob is forming.
I hope it goes well as well. I mean, it has to be a good sign that they want me for an interview instead of the usuall application process. Time for a montage of preperation! To the montage machine!

Poor Velvet.
I'm glad you got an interview @Dovah. I hope it goes well.
Speaking for work, I had to publish a few stories for my magazine today. I took a snapchat of one of the pictures in the magazine and joked about how bad the makeup was.
After 9 hours, I was done with everything but every time I tried to post that one particular story with the bad makeup, my browser would freeze. I had to work on the entire story about 6 times before I could post it. That too with constant saves. Gotta love karma.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So do I. I just can't take having my hopes raised then smashed.
I really hope I do get it. I mean, it's an actual face to face one and i think, they usually do phone interviews first. I may be bypassing it and have techincally gone onto the next stage(face to face) due to my CV being excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get it as that is my life. Though if i do get it, i should be able to easily get a bloody room or flat to rent.(admittly, a room is more likely due to me being first time renter, under 25 and well, kinda would be cheaper as a short term option).
Naturally, I am gonna to obessess over it and i am gonna to do everything in my power to be fully prepared for it. 45 minutes next thursday. It could be it. It could be over after 2 [&@%!] years. It probably won't be as well, life likes to toy with me. But it must be a good thing and a good sign that they contacted me and invited me instead of me applying for it. It must be.

Guess who's looking like they might just have the foremost expert in the country operating from outside his university to supervise his MSc thesis? Yep - went from pessimistic about my previous research topic imploding to super [&@%!] elated in the course of 24 hours.
(Though I also lost my laptop charger and need to re-do an entire programming assignment in case I can't get a new one sent to me before the due date. So that sucks.)

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Thanks. I do hpe it's not another one of life's cruel japes where I hve my hopes raised, it is unsuccessful and my hopes are smashed against a rock. Though, it does kinda fall within the same month as the last time I had an interview that resulted in an apprenticeship, i think. So erm... yeah. Admittly, I am kinda telling myself that I have a chance and don't have a chance. Prepping every day, obession with it and hopefully, the 45 minutes on thursday will be the last of my jjob hunt. That and to have a [&@%!] face to face interview is [&@%!] excellent. Sorry, I rarely get these and it has to be a good sign that they contacted me first, right? I mean, a part of me thinks that they won't count the lack of background in that sector against me but most of me is a bit negative about it as I am usually right about not getting it.
Regarding ye laptop, youch, that really sucks but have you considered backing it up on a USB and using the library? Even if it's for printing purposes. Or order a cheap one off amazon. I did years ago(though, admittly, i may have mistook a bit of atemperateal power socket as a dying charger) and it is still working to this very day.
*then Dovah's charger died just to be typical*
Applied for a few jobs today. Strong chances with one of them due to it being retail. I mean, 4 yearsretail and 6 months of current retail must count for something. Though, if it turns out voluntary means jack [&@%!], someone is getting a mouldy teabag lobbed at them. I mean, what's the point of voluntary work(in terms of CV) if it means nothing?
Also, apprenticeships are starting to get decent wages. Lucky [&@%!]. Back in my day, £115 was considered the standard. Nowadays, they are earning up to £200 a week.
I really should start an Ol' man Dov rants thread just for silly rants or minor stuff.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Ended up spending the previous two days sort of just, relaxing. Made myself some steak-stir fried rice, partly bc I didn't feel like ordering take-out Chinese food, but at the same time, I really wanted Chinese food. It was nice n chilly Thursday, so I ended up sitting out in the backyard and took a hour nap under the tree n cuddled with my dog Holly. So that was nice. Also ended up binging a good portion of Toradora. Which, just... It's so hard to stop watching >__< <3.
So that's how I spent my days off. Napping in the cold, eating fried rice, n watching anime(I also drank an entire bottle of sake but lets not get into that)

I went to a youth retreat with my best friend this past weekend. And you know what's not okay? Doing the Pennywise walk towards someone at night out in the woods when they're not expecting it while wearing dark clothes that obscure your face. IT'S NOT OKAY.
NOT.
OKAY.

The retreat was great!
It was my best friend. She hasn't even seen the movie, but she knows that I have. Apparently she's seen enough clips to copy his walk exactly, though.
-----
Last night I went to a Rend Collective concert! It was really super amazing. You know how sometimes you're just so happy you can't help but smile? Mhm mhm, it was a good time.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Mainly interview prep. More or less am ready. Just jotting down major things and questions to ask on a notepad later on. Ironing interview clothes and giving my shoes a good polish. Tomorrow is really, the last day I can do proper prep. Won't have time on wednesday and Thursday it occurs. Never, has an interview caused me to worry so much. I am constantly worrying about it, I know something will prevent me from being successful as life seems to dangle it just out of reach and torment me. Most times, I'm positive about my chances. This time? 80% negative about it despite me being invited without me applying for the position. :-S The job that i was positive about seems to have bene unsuccessful and it kinda is a last chance situation.
I know where it is, got the schedule for thursday, got the hairstyle i want(smart as heck because my hair is a bit long and gel makes it seem better) and got all the paperwork(CV, Email in case, paperwork they sent me as part of the interview).
Just so nervous about it. Paranoid that it is gonna to be another failure.
Oh and been having this odd feeling. Not a full on bellyache but just something that feels familiar to hunger. Tis not hunger. Probably nerves.
Darn it, i'm tearing myself AHPART!

Oh and been having this odd feeling. Not a full on bellyache but just something that feels familiar to hunger. Tis not hunger. Probably nerves.
Darn it, i'm tearing myself AHPART!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So yesterday on my way to work my car was giving me trouble again. Something broke and now my front right wheel no longer turns manually and sort of just does what it wants. In short, I'm at it's mercy. Can't make it a few meters before it puts me to a stop. Luckily, it happened just as I was leaving the subway my friend works at, so after some trial and error, I managed to safely park it. Obviously bc I had to get to work, I ended up walking my way to the hospital. Getting there was fine, just down the road from where I broke down. Getting back tho? If it wasn't for my brother working that night, I would have had to walk the way.. Which takes half an hour by car anyways >_> can't imagine how long it would have taken on foot..
Anyways, I guess it just keeps reminding me on why I need a new car, and just when I was getting ready to lease one
