Post by The SheoDovah »

Just adding my opinon here. This has been an adult conversation. Kinda confused to why it is deemed otherwise?

I love New Vegas and do believe it should be the standard quality for all modern Fallout titles but I will agree, the Mojave Wasteland isn't for everyone and it could have been done better. But that said, it's amazing that Obsidian got the game out and ready within a year. It's also [&@%!] that Bethesda gave them a year, knowing full well how long it takes to do RPGs. I do feel NV has the strongest plot but i can see why it doesn't appeal to some people and it is a bit clichéd. But it is a lot more varied then 3's Find ye dad, get the chip and that is what I seek in a Fallout game. Granted, Fallout 1 was just as linear with it's plot but I think that has the justification of being the first game. Fallout 2 is quite fluid in it's plot and it is very hard to exceed the 13 year time limit. Unlike, Fallout 1's 500 day one.

Regarding the board game again, if it's using Chris Avellone's work, it could be interesting. Ooo, what if it's Van Buren? That could be really interesting, though, a bit confusing and could screw with continiuty unless it's not canon. Hmm, i was about to say that i can't see it working but then it just occured to me that it is very close or should be close to how Fallout 1 and 2 did Turn based combat.

Also, no bugs! Unless Bethesda manages to mess up a board game. Which, let's face it, wouldn't be surprising if it was a buggy mess.

Fallout 4's Creation Club content has been very naff. The worst offender that i feel is a massive insult to everyone is...

The HORSE POWER ARMOUR! For an entire five dollars. Sure, you get a standard fetch quest but come on, really? It's 2017 and they make a joke item for $5 and as part of the launch day content. *facepalms* The Pitboy skins seem to be filler and 50 BSP each is too much imo. The furniture pack is a joke and apparently, Creation Club is no longer about new quests, locations etc... due to armour sets taking up most of the slot. An entire armour set takes up an entire or most of a single slot.

Worse, Bethesda could have done a far better job. Heck, even if it was something like the old Oblivion house add-ons. Yes, it would be a bit meh but having a few different ones at low prices, a few unique weapon packs(not retextures) and a few quests should have been that. Not a few armours, a lot of retextures, a single gun and a furniture pack.

love New Vegas and do believe it should be the standard quality
I mean, Fallout: New Vegas is my favorite game ever so expecting every game to be as good as it is a tad unreasonable.

But I'm very curious how you feel the plot or structure of Fallout: New Vegas is cliche. I can understand other people not liking it as much as me, but cliche? Just, it has Western and Post-Apocalyptic Tropes? There aren't really many games with that kind of plot or 3 way conflict between NCR/Legion/House and how it interconnects with various other smaller factions. Or do you just mean it has elements of earlier entries in the series (so NCR, Enclave, The Followers, BoS, Super Mutants, etc.) Because none or those returning elements are presented as being unchanged. I just can't think of any game which is like Fallout: New Vegas so I'm not sure how it's cliche. Anyway, I'm like 90% sure Obsidian are making a World of Darkness game which I hope they are, so that's cool. It doesn't matter if Obsidian don't get to make another Fallout game, what matters is that they got to make New Vegas in the first place, that's a better take away. New Vegas doesn't not exist anymore.

---

There isn't a second time limit in Fallout 1, not anymore. I'm almost certain it's been long patched out, time will still impact the epilogues you get and the water chip has a 150 time limit, but that's it. And it isn't that linear, it's shorter I guess if that's what you mean. Which is a benefit in my eyes. I like Fallout 1 more than Fallout 2 and overall I think Fallout 2 goes on a bit too long (which I think about a lot of isometric RPGs, particularly Baldur's Gate and Pillars of Eternity,) by the time I'm in San Fran I'm ready for the game to end, I want to be done with it, I don't want to do those the optional military bases (in part because combat isn't the high point and those are basically monster dungeons.)

Fallout 1 is about 18-22 hours, something like that, which is a super nice length. The best isometric RPG to come out this decade is Shadowrun: Dragonfall which is about the same.

Phil, just for a frame of reference and not to call you out or anything; if you feel that Fallout's general plot quality is mid-to-low quality, what's an example of a game that you deem to have a good story?

It just seems like you've either got a really high standard or I have a really low one, because when I go into fiction I'm usually not expecting the next Lord of the Rings or anything, I just don't like when stories betray their own themes (ATLUS' Catherine), have incredibly vague and un-approachable plot or lore (Destiny, Bloodborne) or present immediately evident contradictions in story events (too many things to add). I feel like most Fallout stories pass that threshold which is why I've always enjoyed them.

I disagree, Kerr. I believe that by having New Vegas as something that Bethesda should attempt to meet the standard with is fairly reasonable. Imagine if Fallout 4 had all the options that NV did in it's main plot. Regarding the cliched stuff, the finding the man who shot you and killing him is a bit cliched but it works for New Vegas and is more or less an excuse to allow the player to roam however they please. Admittly, Cazadors and Deathclaws flat out block the shortway way to New Vegas but i feel that it works because it shows the danger of living in a wasteland. Though, [&@%!]. Cazadors.

The issue I have with BOS in 3 and 4 is that they are there for the sake of it. New Vegas, they are a minor faction and are shown in a different light. They know they are going to go extinct but just can't change their ways. Veronica is an excellent insight into how the Western BOS operates. BOS in 3 seems to be a bit generic and just the token big army good guys in power armour. Outcasts were interesting and really should have been expanded on further along with playing a part in the Enclave. The Enclave are there because erm..... because they are. I do believe it is viable for them to have a secret base with enough men to be a threat but they really missed the chance to do an original organisation that could have been more of a grey area. E.g. Wanting to establish a government but takes harsh actions for the greater good. New Vegas did factions better in terms of morality. Caeser's Legion had good intentions but Caeser himself got the worst parts of Rome and really failed in his goal to restore humanity. The NCR is corrupt but is often regarded as the good faction.

I think they extended the 400 days to 500 days but i'm not sure. I kinda dislike being on time limits in RPGs as it limits exploration but i admit, that is a bit nitpicky.

I feel that Fallout does do plots well(aside from 3 and POS) and it is a wonderful display of how to mix plot with an open world sandbox. Not many games can do that without it damaging the plot.

I would love to see Fallout 5 not feature a Vault PC or a PC that is even involved with a vault. The Courier was an excellent way to handle it with players having the choice to establish facts via dialogue though admittly, i would have preferred if it could be established during the intro just as background info.

Ghouls need to be shown better by Bethesda. Just stop showing them as mostly feral beings.

Originally getting water from the water merchants increased the first timer (for the water chip) by 100 days and reduced the second timer (Super Mutants find the Vault) by 100 days. That might be what you're talking about.

Also it's pretty obvious you haven't played Fallout 4 because if you had you probably wouldn't have made those comments about the Brotherhood of Steel. They're maybe as interesting in Fallout 4 by taking a new direction as they were in New Vegas by keeping the old one. They're not like the Lyons Brotherhood anymore, they're Fascists now. Like full on 'Hail Victory,' ethnic purity, 'We must ensure the existence of our people,' heavy use of historical iconography, expansionist military dictatorship Fascists. If you join they'll even subject you to questions like "Have you had sex with any subhumans?" They're genuinely awful. Which is a good thing, it's an interesting direction to take (even if their more amendment supporters online kind of creep me out. How anyone could come away from their time with Nick thinking 'Synths aren't people' is beyond me.)

Spoilers:
Spoiler:
The mission where they attack the Railroad and then the next one where you blow up their airship were fantastic.

And while unfortunately you have to work with them to get it, Danse has a really interesting personal quest. Which just makes him more like Buzz Lightyear.
You can talk about Fallout 4 without playing it, but at least know what you're talking about.

Agreed. I don't understand the point in complaining about a game you haven't played yet. Playing the game provides you with intimate knowledge that you don't get from not playing. If you've played and hate it then that's your prerogative. It just makes any arguments you have null and void in my mind, but I digress. Expecting it to be the same or better than NV is unrealistic. The games aren't even made by the same company. They are two entirely different games with unique pros and cons. Neither one is perfect, neither one is better than the other. At least to me.

Granted, I grew up playing Nintendo and old school games where the luxuries of quicksaves and reloads didn't exist. It's why I don't understand the complaining. Games are far more advanced than they used to be.

@Kerr I think your pov is valid and I get it. You weren't the one I was referring to. I'm bowing out now to go play some Fallout 4 lol. Ps Fallout radio on Youtube is the bomb.

You need to qualify your statements a little better than just dropping an opinion casually and running off. I disagree with the notion that 3 had a crappy story. "The only family you've ever known is missing, go find 'em" is simple, but don't mistake simple for bad. It's more effective than most in giving you a push in the right direction. --And Fallout BOS' plot moves as its gameplay necessitates; linearly.

A Fallout game with a PC being at least vaguely associated with a vault is something of a tradition. Do you also gripe about TES PCs starting as a prisoner? ...With any story (whether a game or not), what is far more important is what you do with your time, the deeds that you do now. Not your past. That stuff ain't even playable. (Usually.)

----Anyway. More info about the Fallout boardgame...neat stuff. You've got SPECIAL and some starting abilities for your survivor...Ooh, Vaults sound like a big thing. They have their own encounter deck, and it sounds like a good opportunity for narrative. Difficult decisions to be made, rewards to be reaped or consequences to be suffered.

Interestingly, it sounds like you're trying to advance your character's agenda more than anything. If a faction achieves all their goals, no character wins. I almost see it/interpret it as like...you're trying to become a legend, like the Lone Wanderer. If the Railroad just sweeps in and liberates the Commonwealth on their own, well, you're going to be kinda overshadowed, and not have much more to do, there. So you have to balance cooperation with other players and whichever factions are in the scenario...while also seeing to your own needs.

Crap, one thing I forgot: for those of you who think a ghoul child surviving in a fridge for 200 years doesn't make sense tell me, does the NV courier surviving 2 gunshots to the head make sense?

There are countless examples in the Fallout games of things not making sense: teleportation, people thriving in a nuclear war zone, synthetic humans, Super Mutants, Brahmin, etc. But we susped disbelief long enough to remember it's Science Fiction baby!

As much as I liked a good deal of what Fallout 4 did, the ghoul kid was one of my pet peeves. I don't care if any of it can be justified with in-universe lore plug-ins, it just felt off and left so many things to be considered. What does this mean to how ghouls regulate their body temperature, their metabolism? Do they need to eat at all? Why didn't he grow or develop any significant muscular dystrophy in that fridge, or why didn't he just go [&@%!] nuts? Like, do you know how long 200 years is? No human alive can possibly comprehend it.

Could it work in the Fallout Universe? Of course, there's always a ton of weird things going on in there that defy science. The FEV is the prime example of that; but a lot of these take the fringe elements or consequences into consideration. That's the prime component of good writing, in my mind; taking the ramifications of something into account. I don't feel the ghoul-in-a-fridge quest did that at all and that's a pretty big reason I avoid it when I play FO4.

Contrast the Courier getting shot in the head? People survive that all the time in the real world, it's implied to be miraculous in the Courier's case. Have you ever heard of Malala Yousafzai? She took a bullet to the head (and her shoulder iirc) and made it out fine, and she's not the first.

I wish they would bring it into account more often (like how Snake's shrapnel horn in Metal Gear Solid V pushes on his cerebral cortex and causes hallucinations, misinterpretation of light, etc), but it's one of the best ways I've seen a game make a player character both very blank to allow player identification while simultaneously giving them a very unique trait.

I like a lot of things FO4 did, but I'll never enjoy the Fridge Kid. Todd Howard owes me a drink for that.

This cannot be stated enough. TSD, entering a topic and replying to every single thread of conversation that has cropped up since your last visit is not discussion. Threads are conversations, not bullet point lists, and it's just... really jarring.

Honestly, the fridge kid [&@%!] me off. Only because he was whiney and annoying. I sold him to Bullet then killed Bullet. Chloe needed caps. Her partner(s) didn't like that so much but hey, she has a kid and 20+ settlements to support.

Speaking of bullets to the head, with the Dual Survivors mod Nate survived to find Shaun with Chloe. :D

Dohva. wrote:Crap, one thing I forgot: for those of you who think a ghoul child surviving in a fridge for 200 years doesn't make sense tell me, does the NV courier surviving 2 gunshots to the head make sense?
Well, people can survive being shot in the head, people can't survive 200 years without food. I don't think being shot in the head and not dying is unreasonable given that it happens in real life. But that doesn't matter, not really. See the argument (for me at least) is typically one of internal consistency and working within the rules of the universe, not that things are impossible in the real world. Now if it's a matter of ghouls entering some kind of coma where they survive on radiation alone, cool, I wouldn't have an issue with that. And it makes sense given how often you seem to just find them passed out doing nothing until you show up.

But if it's just 'ghouls don't need water to live' then it flies in the face of everything about what made the ghouls in Fallout 1 good. It would invalidate the entire reason Necropolis is such a good part of that game. Recap for anyone who hasn't played it, in Fallout 1 your home Vault 13 is running out of drinking water and you need to find a new water chip to save them. So eventually you head to Bakersfield, California and find Vault 12 which has a functioning water chip. However the Vault already has residents, mutated ghouls, who need this water chip to survive as the old pump they used in the past is broken and in order to fix it they'd need to eliminate the dangerous Super Mutants who've just shown up. So now you have two options, you can take the water chip and leave thus ensuring that an entire community of people, who while not human, have just as much right to survive as you do will die out. Or you can go out of your way and put yourself in danger to try and repair the water pump for them for very little benefit to yourself (outside of XP that is.)

The entire point of ghouls is that these mutants look like monsters, but they aren't. They're people, people who need that water chip to survive just as much as your people do. If you take that water chip without replacing it you're going to damn them all to death and for a lot of people getting that ending slide is a real gut punch and possible realization of the awful thing they've done. But if that fridge kid is right and ghouls don't need water, the whole choice is meaningless, ghouls don't need water so they don't need the water chip or water pump. It makes me think that Bethesda either doesn't understand or doesn't care about why ghouls in Fallout 1 were so memorable in the first place. As though that thematic meaning didn't matter.

So if you wanted to know why I don't like the fridge kid, there you go.

---

Anyway, speaking of ghouls, I wish your spouse had become a ghoul instead of dying. I really, really do. Like they're already playing the PC, it's not like they aren't already recording a bunch of dialogue. It sort of happens with the Vault representative, but it would be even better with your actual spouse meeting them again 210 years later in Goodneighbour. That time gap leads to so many possibilities for drama. How much have they changed as a person? Maybe they have new spouse who've they've been married to for like 50 years. There's so many possibilities. Having them die feels like a missed opportunity.

Ugh, that's another thing that bugged me, the Vault-Tec rep. Did he seriously not change over 220 years? He never changed clothes, personality, literally the only thing dragging him out of a drug den was seeing some dude/lady from, and once again I reiterate how freakishly long ago this is, two-hundred-and-twenty years. Why didn't he look like a druggie, why didn't he take up a trade? Seriously, what did he DO for 220 years? Nope, he just pops up for a quick joke. I like quick jokes, but... I feel like that should be a Wild Wasteland thing more than anything.

____________

Fallout 4's theme seems to be the juxtaposition of the old world and the new, hence why it opens with your life in the idyllic pre-war America. Your character is a man/woman out of time in a world entirely foreign to them. Thus, I feel like a better antagonist or foil to the character of the Sole Survivor would have been the spouse, having existed in the nuclear world as a ghoul. The juxtaposition exists there; one who was allowed to be spared the horrors of two-hundred years of decay and post-apocalyptic horror, and one who had to live it. The world passed them by in different ways... And I think that would have been a great way to approach it.
Spoiler:
Sure, keep Shaun in there, but make him tertiary, make the spouse want something different than the protagonist.

I actually think a ghoul spouse would've been really interesting. It's a shame they didn't live...it's why I love the Dual Survivor mod so much because it really adds a different dimension to the game. Sole Survivor + spouse entering the new world where they have to search for their kidnapped child. The mod took 1 1/2 years to make from what I read and they did a fabulous job with the spouse's dialogue. Nate/Nora even has affinity that rises or falls like the other followers and you have discussions with him/her about the whole ordeal with Shaun throughout the main quest.

I wish it would have been a scenario like where you decide whether they live or die once you're unfrozen. Like in the Mayor McDonough quest in Dimond City, where you decide whether Danny Sullivan lives or dies.

A spouse already living would have added major conflict. What if you find them after you've already hooked up with another follower? Or if you're no longer in love with them? (an option given in the Dual Survivor mod) Having the spouse die was a wasted opportunity, I agree, even though your grief is a major part of the plot. As a married woman and mother, it was hella difficult making it through the main quest having to talk about what happened. With the mod, it feels like Nate SHOULD be with her, and he is, so it's awesome and I don't think I can ever play without it again. Although now Chloe keeps having to reject MacCready's options for romance and it's getting annoying. "I said 'no', damn it!"

I think it would also allow for a really natural way to add in parts of your character's life from before the war too which doesn't force things on the player, because you could be the one to bring them up and in doing so decide what happened because you remember them more clearly. So you could bring up how you met, a date you went on together, what your wedding was like. For you all the stuff was a few years ago, not a couple of centuries, so it could be a really sweet way to reminisce.

Um...they're not though. Ghouls in 4 are not just feral. They show up as settlers on your settlements, you find a cluster of them in Goodneighbor or around the Commonwealth on your daily adventures. The Vault-Tec rep is also a ghoul you can send to one of your settlements. The mayor of Goodneighbor is a ghoul who also doubles as a follower/romance partner. The world is inhabited by ghouls that aren't feral. So Idk what you're talking about.

And this is why I tend to dismiss your comments, TSD. Not because I want to be rude but because you haven't played the game and make statements that are untrue, then argue in favor of your misleading comments. It's annoying.

I love this. I really do wish they would have done this but then again, a lot of folks complained they were even married pre-war so Bethesda approached this the way they do TES games of 'prisoner but your past doesn't matter'. One of my favorite conversations pre-war is between the protagonist and their spouse, when you find out Shaun was conceived in a park. :D It's little things like that which add to the flavor of your protagonist and the heaviness of what they've lost.

Also:
Spoiler:
I just recently finished the MQ again and this time, had something interesting happened. During the final conversation between Chloe and Shaun, she chose the option (only because Nate was there) of offering to protect and help the Institute survivors. Almost immediately after the explosion at C.I.T., Preston sends her to meet with a group of Institute survivors and she had the option of helping them or not. At the time, she was with her ghoul follower (I always forget his name). She rejected the offer of helping them at first, but then went back and eventually created a poppy settlement for them because of her promise to Shaun. One of the scientists mentions how he lost everything. EVERYTHING? What about her entire family? SMH

Heads up that Fallout 1 is free on Steam at the moment. It's also better than Fallout 2, fight me fellow classic Fallout fans.

I already have it on GOG, so I'm good, but some of yous might not so now's a good time to nab it.

Fallout 2's tutorial is kinda one of the worst tutorials in existence because it really limited to one or two builds. It stands out from the rest of the game and according to the trivia page on it's tropes page, it was a last minute thing. Also, you get to prank call the Enclave. What other RPG allows you to [&@%!] off the US goverment by prank calling them? Granted, it is a bad idea if you have the restoration patch as they will find you and kill you. Stuff like that is kinda missing from Fallout nowadays. I hope Fallout 5 allows pure dumb dumb behaviour like the originals. I'm talking being as dumb as a super mutant and the game being really challenging because you literally can't form a sentence. New Vegas did it to a degree but i can see why it's not in the games fully. I mean, 1 intellegience characters are likely to be viewed as rarely used and not worth the effort.

There's seem to be little to no reports about Fallout VR though from the trailers, it seems to be the same gimmicky floating guns stuff instead of actually managing to do an entire RPG without much modification on VR.

I'm surprised(come to think of it) that there isn't an IOS port of the originals. (that i'm aware of)

It's surprising to me technically speaking, we've already made mobile ports of way more complicated games than that (KotOR comes to mind). As for as the HUD goes though, I'm not sure how they could fit that much information onto one screen that's only like 4-6 inches long. I think that may be what's holding it back.

Plus, I don't think anyone holds the reproduction rights of the originals like BeamDog holds the repro-rights of Baldur's Gate, which is why Baldur's Gate and the sequel got iOS ports; those were tablet exclusive though, because there's just not enough room on a phone screen to fit all the information you need to play the game.

I always looked at 1-intelligence characters as more of an easter egg than anything. It can be a little weird, little immersion breaking.

I agree, i mean, GTA San Andreas managed to get an IOS port(which, i think, was recieved well, barring the change of songs due to licensing issues) yet Fallout originals, which, in theory, would be easy to port over with a few minor modifications for a touch control scheme, hasn't. I think, Bethesda owns everything Fallout due to Interplay losing the big law suit and with the recent rise of Skyrim ports, Fallout would work. On a phone, it wouldn't unless one fancies really having a small screen with hard to read text but tablets, it would work. Isn't the average size of a tablet a lot bigger then that nowadays?

I hope we never get remakes of the originals because i can see it being forced into the current style and for me, I feel the originals are best left in their CRPG format.

What would make for an interesting Fallout film/Game is a TLOU style one. Linear, yes but a heavy narrative that makes you get invested in the main character, emotions etc.. would be interesting. The closet film to Fallout is The Road. Heck, if they did that for Fallout 3, that would be interesting. Sadly, i think it would be deemed too different to be accepted.

Well GTA is a bit simpler, it requires some simple touchpad controls. San Andreas required like 6 buttons or so to play effectively. Plus the view is behind CJ, so having a full 360 view of your surroundings isn't always critical. Most of the gameplay is forward-driven, like driving or shooting.

Fallout needs detailed HuD elements. Targeting body parts, inventory system, the pip boy that takes up 80% of the screen, and all of this has to be presented from far away enough on the isometric view to give you an adequate idea of what is surrounding you. That just doesn't fit well on a phone, I don't think. So I do believe a tablet would be the way to go, as long as it's sufficiently large.

I dunno, I wouldn't mind a re-hash of the original Fallout in the style of FO3/NV/4/whatever. It wouldn't make the originals cease to exist, and I like how the 3D Fallouts play.

It does and i think the pipboy could be reduced without causing much issues. I mean, it's just part of the hud and whilst it is nice, i wouldn't mind sacrificing the size for a tablet port. I kinda feel that a lot of modern day elements would end up in a potential Fallout remake. E.g. Regeneration of health, microtransactions etc...It would be interesting to see how they would handle it though, i think a lot of padding would be required in terms of location due to the small amount of settlements and travelling would be a bit dull. But I will admit, i would fear that it would be heavily action oriented for most quests where violence is the only option. Skyrim tended to require a lot of violence to resolve it and i feel that there should be a lot of options that use the player's skillset. Fallout 1 and 2 allows that though Frank Horrigan doesn't tolerate it but that's Frank [&@%!] Horrigan. Dude is a walking tank!

That said, I rather see new games then remakes of the originals. I could see Bethesda porting the originals over to the consoles. It wouldn't require much aside from modifying them to run on it, changing control schemes etc..

Somebody hasn't seen Mad Max, A Boy and his Dog or Six String Samurai. Not that you should watch the middle one, it's not very good.

My stance remains Fallout 1 & 2 remakes in the style of 3/New Vegas/4 is an awful idea. You're better off making a different game than trying to put that square peg into that circular hole, realistically you'd be making so many compromises both in remaining true and trying to change it. Fallout 1 & 2 remakes in the style of Shadowrun: Returns however is a fantastic idea and could be to Fallout 1 & 2 what REmake is to Resident Evil 1. REmake updates and improves upon a lot of the design (and visuals) of the original while staying true to the core making a game which is better in basically every way. I wouldn't have wanted a Resident Evil 1 remake that plays like Resident Evil 4 (even if it wasn't made yet.) REmake doesn't need to be Resident Evil 4 and Fallout 1 doesn't need to be Fallout 3. Also if it was made like that you could actually zoom in and out on the isometric cavalier oblique view, that would be pretty sweet, no more squinting to see the ammo in a radscorpion cave.

Have you played Fallout 1 and/or 2 TSD? Because the UI ain't great, it's not Wasteland or anything but it could be way better. Yeah, put items I pick up at the bottom of my inventory, that's convenient Fallout 1.

Fallout Operation is now a thing by the way. Another interesting media thing Fallout could do (other than make a PnP RPG already) is comics. Know Chris Avellone would be chomping at the bit to write them (which would garner fan interest and by fan interest I mean my interest) and he has been posting Vault Boys on his facebook recently so he might be doing something Fallout wise (hopefully not writing quests for Fallout Shelter.)
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

Yeah, i've not seen Mad Max because I've never been able to get BEYOND THUNDERDOME! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

*Sits in the corner* I know what I did.

I've played and enjoyed the originals but kinda dislike doing so on my laptop due to life. I'm partially open to remakes in the style of NV/3 but i could see some things being cut out due to age rating reasons. I mean, Fallout 2 allows you to murder kids, become a hooker and that's just off the top of my head. I doubt Bethesda would allow Fallout 2 to retain it. I do agree that a REmake approach is far better and it could even improve on the originals. E.g. Fallout 1 gets a lot more settlements, a larger time limit etc...

I do hope that Bethesda doesn't decide to tackle the west coast or if they do, avoid the NCR controlled areas. I feel that it's best for them to focus on new content in terms of factions. New Vegas was done by Obsidian and had people who worked on the originals, i think. It may have been a semi-sequel to 2 whilst being it's own thing. I would love to see another Obsidian Fallout though, Bethesda the publisher needs to not use metacritic. Obsidian were foolish for agreeing to it and Bethesda doing that was a bit dodgy. But i think Obsidian has found it's own little niché position in the industry and may be comfortable with focusing on their own stuff.

I wonder if Bethesda will allow Zenimax to do a Fallout MMO?

Oh and Fallout vault onesies and hoodies? Really? I forgot that they were a thing. Just no. It's tacky. I mean, why not do actual jumpsuits that can be used for causal wear? A fallout onesie is just awful looking. Everytime I go into my local Game store, they seem to always have it and erugh. Admittly, a Vault Boy mug is something I would pay for. Same with decent models of Fallout characters.

EDIT: Also, Shame on Obsidian and Bethesda. They did not do an Arch Dornan despite all three games having miltaries. Put in a nasty hammy drill sargenant!

If you don't want the merch, then don't... get... them...?

What do you mean, 'use metacritic'? No one chooses to be on metacritic, it's literally an aggregate site.

Apparently, as part of a condition for receiving bonuses, Bethesda tied it into Metacritic and Fallout New Vegas was short of the target by one point.

I'll see if i can dig out any sources about it.
