Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today, i went for a walk on the beach in my new sandals. Turns out they were self aware and attacked my right foot. A layer of skin was removed! :O But fortunately, twas just around the right side of the er...over the top belt?(Roof like thing). Went swimming and i made a very shocking, quite depressing discovery. I am a lot more rusty then I thought! Meaning, I can barely swim.
All these years, i presumed I could but either half of me is too heavy or for some reason, I can't get my body to float. This means that i shall have to consider doing a swimming lesson or two to try to shake off the rust.
Also quite embarrassing for me as well. However, that won't stop me from going to the beach. All it means is that I can't go too far near the sea or into the sea.
*adds body to the list of things Dovah hates* Stupid brain! You had one job! You only had to access the lessons i was taught as a kid but nooo, you done deleted it!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Was out last night and friend wanted me to hold her dog for a minute and while she was gone some gal walks up looking at the dog and says, "He's so cute!" and I replied with "Aww thanks, I feel awkward standing here holding my friends dog." Maybe sounds [censored] over the net but I'm proud of myself for thinking of that on the fly.
Also I accidentally cut myself yesterday at the joint on my thumb closest to my palm. It's a tiny nick 1/8" in length but good god did it bleed a lot. Didn't hurt at all but it was crazy how much blood there was you'd think I cut my hand off.

@Kerr & Union: It's, complicated. It's normal for parrots if their nesting and have a mate >_> not so in this case. Egg laying takes energy and nutrients.. Not to mention the mental influence
So basically, I have to wait till she loses interest in it and simply discourage nesting behavior in the future <_< if I take away the egg now, she'll just replace it or fall into a depression >_> and if she just replaces it, that's just gonna start a horrible cycle
Basically, I'm lucky there is just the one egg.. And she doesn't seem all too bounded to it either. So once she's lost interest in it, I'll toss it

I was at the beach with my friends and for the first time ever we met some cool people, babysat their dog and also made friends with a 7 year old girl, which turned out actually way cooler than I would've expected, haha. She was one of those 'little grownups' type of kids, so funny.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Where to start today.. Well.. Yesterday at work... Oh ya. *Ahem*
Gdudjdbdhdudh [&@%!] ME, RIGHT?!
Seriously, I thought [&@%!] was going to go easy and all, but NOPE, into the night [&@%!] hit the fan. Uuuuuuugghhh..... Why me ;-;
I was on the Psychiatric and Behavior unit, watching over a particular patient for the past two days. No problem. Also got to socialize a bit with some of the more friendlier bunch which really I would be all more happier if that's all it was. Right? Right? *Eye twitches*
Hahaha hahaha *Cackles into the night in crazed relief*
Seriously, not once.. Not twice, but three times MINIMUM did I have to directly step in and stop a fight between two particular patients. One that kept instigating it whenever he came into the group lobby, the other wanting to throw punches.. >__<. And ever.. Single.. God damn time I had to run inbetween the two without a moment notice before things got to bad. If it was just the instigator(whom I have experience dealing with) then sure.. Fine, I can guide him away and even if he turns violent, the situation can still be easily dealt with. (Hahaha, but get this) The other guy? Nu uh.. I am tough [&@%!] out of luck. Not only is he the one eager to throw a punch, but there is a severe difference in my ability to control the situation. Tip that off with both of them, and I'm just a glorified buffer just wishing to not get punched... And bc it's happening so fast and then is over(thanks to the RNs) boy.. My heart.. It can't handle all that.. </3
And the real issue being is, bc of how the unit is and alot of patients are actively around.. It's far worse if a known staff member doesn't immediately try to take charge of the situation than hope for other patients to try and break up the fight. Which makes since, staff arent only trained, there is that since of respect. Another patient gets involved? Things might just get worse.. Either bc someone gets hurt by accident, or good intentions lead to hasty actions.
And one of the issues I love and hate while on that unit is, as a staff member who is regularly with the patients and conveniently in proximity, I can calm or settle issues as I see them. If I know someone is a problem starter? Even if their not the one I'm suppose to watch over? I'll still step in and settle things. Someone is feeling uncomfortable bc of another patient or their inappropriate flattery? Ask for me, and sure, I'll step in between <_< People like and appreciate knowing there is that added bit of security right there. Not so good if tensions are a bit too high....
---- To sort of end on a lighter note, before things got wild really fast, but two of the patients I primarily was chatting were really cool, something my brother can agree on(bc he works on that unit). So two days of that was nice, the fact that both were cute and personally funny plays no factor into it whatsoever. But really, any positive attention or interaction you can get on that unit is worth it's own, savor it while it lasts.. Plus to them, nit to downplay my own merits or any others, but being friendly with a staff member is almost mutually beneficial. Not only do I have alot of the answers or who to ask for what.. But one could see, added security has it's perks. Still tho, it was funny with one gal being very coy today about how, well, basically "What if I wanted to hang out or talk with you outside of work?" which, to any stranger in medical field, is a loaded minefield if your not careful

I was babysitting my nieces.
The littlest copies everything her older sister says/does. It's so cute.
I was pretending that their ball pit was a boat, and waving to them whilst shouting "Ahoy there!" and my four year old niece comes out with, "Shiver me timbers!"
Lol. I was amused and surprised that she knows pirate lingo already.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Among other things, creatures stood out today.
Had a tiny butterfly land on my shoulder, then it sat on my hand for a few minutes.
Saw the usual car park Rooks, but one landed on the bonnet of my car (when I was sitting in it), and showed off a large, round, white mint it held proudly in its beak. When it flew off, I saw it hammering at it. Lol.
Had a rabbit chilling out on the front lawn all evening.
Then several slugs and snails sliming around at night (I may have caught one unintentionally with the hosepipe. I think it was fine though).
So, yes, thought I'd share the critter portion of the day.
P.S. Slugs and snails have taken the paint off of the fence (which I painted earlier in the year). Something about their slime seems to be a natural paint remover. Fence looks a mess now.

Thus Aarah realised she was the insectmaster. Which, was a rather rubbish power apart from harnessing the power of bees. Bee ware of her.
Got a microwave last week. Whoever designed the box for it is a right cur. It was awkward because the handles dig into the fingers. Why not have extra grip at the [&@%!] bottom!? WHY!? Oh and strongly believe that this is the month I get employed. That and it's now offically 2 years i've been at this [&@%!] quest. Bitter? Perhaps. Old? Perhaps. Alduin? For everything else, there's Dovahkiin. I don't know, i'm just saying random crap.
I am considering turning my beardy mcbeard of beardstone into a viking/nordic one. I won't though as chances are, i'll be forced to bravely sacrifice it at some point. *Glares at shaver*

I dead headed, pruned, sculpted and transplanted stuff. I visited a sick friend. I gave 2 cats fluids.
Now I am chilling with a Mojito in my backyard. Oh and got some money for the cats. Which I will spend on plants tomorrow.
Plus I bought 2 video games.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Last week, I shaved my month or two old beard and kinda discovered that there may have been white hairs. I'm 24 and I may be starting to get white hairs in a beard. Bugger. But could just be anything else.
Went to a mock telephone interview and [&@%!] the trains. £16.80 for an hour's journey? £12.60 for off peak time. FFS. Still focusing too much on Skyrim and still no interviews for jobs.
But writing fanfiction regulary(the latest one is just taking time due to skyrim, me needing to figure how to get it all together etc..) and waking up early most days.

Today I visited 5 thrift stores, 2 beauty supply stores, and a party shop in search of cosplay materials. I've got some Winry-ish looking items now, but alas, a proper wig couldn't be found. That means I have to order one online, which I'm very wary of. Fingers crossed that things work out. Though I suppose as long as I look faintly recognizable, I'll be happy.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
This is a few days old, but it's something I'm excited/proud/nervous about and wanted to share:
At the prodding of family, I entered the Torrid model search (my favorite clothing store). I don't expect to get anywhere with it, but that's ok. The point is that I'm trying, that I'm feeling good enough to go for it; it really is an exercise in self-confidence more than anything else.
One of the things that they ask for is a short video introducing ourselves and why we kick-ass. This stumped me for awhile, because I don't tend to think that I do. However, talking with my partners and friends, I was able to come up with something to say. Being a writer, I of course wrote it all out first:

@SM
That's a great essay. I think you'd make a great Torrid model. Good luck!
@Wolfborn
Aw, no. That is indeed a shame. Did you get it on a special occasion?

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Not really. I bought it when I moved to the town where I currently live, because I didn't have a wineglass at the time and wanted one. I got it for $2.00 at the local Dollar Store. It was glass, not crystal, but could easily have been mistaken for crystal: a very nice, plain, durable, good-sized wineglass which was perfect for "everyday" use. It served me admirably until last night, when I went to wash it and accidentally clipped the base on the counter as I brought it to the sink. *Snap* went the stem, and thus my old, faithful wineglass has been relegated to the recycling bin. Fourteen years of dedicated service brought to an end by a moment of carelessness...Aarah wrote:@Wolfborn

I do have a pair of Schott-Zweisel crystal wineglasses which I bought myself as a Christmas present two or three years ago, but I reserve those for special occasions (usually Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter) and I wouldn't feel comfortable using them in "everyday" service. I guess I'll have to go wineglass-hunting.
I second Aarah's remarks. A great essay and a wonderful attitude to have towards yourself and life.SM-Dreamer wrote:Hidden:
