I fall pretty firmly on the Vans side of the Vans/Converse divide, but that's just because I prefer slip ons. Although my only pairs are black and light blue, I need to get a new pair at some point in the future, probably go red.

Re: Fashion Discussion Thread
I'm mostly a jeans and trousers guy. The fact that I only own them has nothing to do with it. That and there isn't really much choice. There's trousers, jeans, tracksuit bottoms(which, I admit, I used to wear when I was younger) and shorts. Not fond of shorts because of how hairy my legs are and can't pull the look off. Granted, swimming shorts are the only ones I will tolerate because swimming reasons.
I do intend to get black coats in the future. Namely long ones that are more business then causal as I kinda like them. They tend to be just above the knee length and I love having tons of pockets. I currently only own two blazers and a grey jacket. I literally own one pair of shoes and they are smart black ones with tips.
I think I can pull off the Fedora look as well.

Mod green, probably? They're like...felt. Like a pool table. They're also kinda pointy. This makes them sound really dumb, but they're nice, I swear. I'd take a picture if my floor weren't a mess.Cassandra wrote:Hello, Mars' green shoes. What shade of green are you?

Re: Fashion Discussion Thread
Green felt shoes with pointy toes? Those sound like shoes my father would appreciate.
I don't think that I have a side. I didn't even know that there were sides, actually. I just wear whatever I get as hand-me-downs. Which is, at this point, red Converse. They're pretty nice. I would appreciate a pair of light blue shoes, though.Kerr wrote:I fall pretty firmly on the Vans side of the Vans/Converse divide, but that's just because I prefer slip ons. Re: Fashion Discussion Thread
I love Vans a lot, but I do a lot of walking at school so I need more arch support than that. So maybe once I graduate and stop having to walk around so much, I'll get another good pair.
My favorite pair of shoes I've ever had were my checkerboard converse. I love checkerboard patterns on pretty much anything. Plus my fashion aesthetic is "buys flannel from second hand shops because he's a poor hipster" and checkerboard goes nicely with that.

I'd never heard of Vans, but now I've looked them up, this is good because there is a type of shoe I've been wanting to get, but didn't know what to search for, but they are the ones like the SK8-Hi ones.

If you're going to learn about shoe brands, you should check out heelies.
You can use them to escape your feelies.

It's 2017, at this point all the shopping malls have forgotten to put up signs banning heelies. There's never been a better time.
I somehow didn't wear flannel until I was in my 20s. How? It's so good. I'd been missing out all my life.Unionhack wrote:I love checkerboard patterns on pretty much anything. I very much appreciate the secondhand shop aesthetic. When done correctly, it's really nice.

This thread is going to die without our dear Cassandra. Now it's my duty to carry on her legacy. I got a lot of pretty pastel stuff this week. I'll post in a bit. Low battery.

Never fear.
Now that Mars has a broom, maybe we'll get a pic of those green shoes.
Or perhaps Kerr's flannel.
Or just more fashion chat.
@Union
I looked up Heelys. Wowsers. They look fun. I'm kind of more into funky, fun, kids styles now, than I was as a kid.
(Not that I own any funky, fun, kids styles, but I still like that sort of stuff).

Please tell me you're not a hipster. Hipsters have taken everything from my life and twisted it. I'll still be nice to you but will break out the voodoo doll.Unionhack wrote:Plus my fashion aesthetic is "buys flannel from second hand shops because he's a poor hipster" and checkerboard goes nicely with that.
I rock flannels all through winter, way too hot in summertime though I'd sometimes wear one back in my paintball days. And here's 1 example why flannels aren't for hipsters:

They're suuuuuuuuuuper popular in the US. Well at least around here.Aarah wrote:I'd never heard of Vans
Regarding shoes I do need to figure something out. I need a cheap pair of work shoes, a new pair of running shoes and a pair of walking shoes. Running shoes will be a pain in the butt to find. For walking shoes I just want something that slips on and looks decent. Will probably go shopping in a couple weeks for this.

Re: Fashion Discussion Thread
Flannel. Ech. I don't do flannel, but I do do (lol doodoo) plaid. Plaid overshirt, white tee underneath, roll up the sleeves of the former (unless it's cold or incredibly sunny [gotta care for that ink]). Or work shirts with a white tee.
And jeans. Always jeans. Shorts are comfy and easy to wear, but they're for inside, or barbeques. Out in the real world, they look too boyish.
Ankle socks are comfort, ankle socks are life. Unless in formal wear, obviously.
Formal wear. Well, semi-formal. Plain shirt--white or grey or something. Nothing too garish, but still attractive. Sleeves rolled neatly, of course. And a tie. Not one of those gigantic earth-shaking ones, and not one of those pencil thin ties, but a good, mid sized tie. Neat and orderly at the beginning of the evening; undone and loose by the end. Clean trousers, black leather belt. Shoes, nicely polished.
I don't do suits too well. Plus, the only suits I own are black. I'm a living funeral parlor.

What kind of self-respecting Canadian doesn't play into the lumberjack stereotype at all times?Baloth-Kul wrote:Flannel. Ech. I don't do flannel, but I do do (lol doodoo) plaid. Also, jeans. <3 I need to try a different color or something. I rocked black jeans for about a year and they looked great but I ended up outgrowing them. Some sort of radical deal like red, purple, or maroon. I have a lot of friends who make that look really good.
I wish clothes didn't cost money. It's so rude.

I think that burgundy/maroon jeans can really tie an outfit together if the top portion is mostly muted, dark colors. Maybe navy blue. I'dunno, I'm not exactly a fashion mogul, but I think this looks really nice.
