Oblivion Backwards Compatible on Xbox One
Do you have a copy of Oblivion for the Xbox 360, and a Xbox One? Well, they are now backwards compatible. A nice midweek treat for console players.

Nice! Maybe that'll give me a reason to take my Xbone back out of its box (where it's been sitting since I took it home from school with me 3.5 months ago) and set it up again before my copy of Dishonored 2 arrives.
Start the groove.

Re: Oblivion Backwards Compatible on Xbox One
From the rumours I've read online - if you copy your saves onto your Xbox 360 'Cloud' space then the XB1 is supposed to pick it up. Apparently though you need XBL Gold, there's a limited amount of space on the X360 Cloud (512 Mb?) and this save might never permanently move onto your XB1 hard drive.Imbalance wrote:Do saves transfer?
Now I can't personally confirm any of that but it sounds worth a try.

I know it's possible, I've never done it before, though. Basically upload your last save to the Cloud, then fire up the game on your Xbox One, and access the Cloud.

I've an Xbox 360 disc that was cutting out, with Xbox One does it load from the disc like on a 360 or does it only need to disc to verify the game?

If you can install the disc onto your Xbox One, you should be good (it only uses the disc to verify then). If you can't, then your disc itself is bad, a casualty of an issue with the Xbox 360's design that was prone to cause damage to the disc just from use.

Thanks, that's just the reply I needed to clear it up. Will give it a go tonight. Re: Oblivion Backwards Compatible on Xbox One
Was so happy they finally made it backwards compatible. The moment I found out, I immediately put it on and started a new playthrough. I had deliberately not played it for years so that when I finally started a new game it would feel more exciting (lmao, yeah, I'm sad like that).
Now, if only they could get Morrowind onto the Xbox One! Or better yet, get all the older games on there! Would love to be able to play Arena and Daggerfall on my Xbox One.
I was happy, at least, when they made the original Xbox version of Morrowind compatible with Xbox 360, though now I am hoping against hope that they'll either make it compatible or simply made a downloadable version of it available on Xbox One.

Re: Oblivion Backwards Compatible on Xbox One
I have the Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition for the xbox 360, but I'm getting an error message when I put the disc in the Xbox One.
Is only the classic base game backwards compatible, and not the 5th anniversary edition?
Edit:
So the main game and two expansions have installed from the store, but above where it says 'install' it says 'you can play this game for now, or buy it to own forever'.
What does this mean?
If I take the disc out and try to play the (now installed) game, it asks for the disc, so this is fine, I just don't get the 'play this game for now' part.

Just bad UI text. Sounds like the store version is just using your disk to verify that you own it.Aarah wrote: So the main game and two expansions have installed from the store, but above where it says 'install' it says 'you can play this game for now, or buy it to own forever'.

Re: Oblivion Backwards Compatible on Xbox One
^Ah, I see. That makes sense. Play it for now (while you have the disc in) or buy it digitally so it's permanently on your account.
Thanks for clarifying!
