I usually eat them with other stuff, so I don't really spice them up. Salt and pepper.

I put em between two pieces of toast, add ketchup. Maybe sliced cheese and bacon, and you've got a complete breakfast. (Err, not that you can really eat something like that right now. Sorry.)

Maybe you can incorporate them into a breakfast burrito? If that's soft enough for you?

@Cass: Overcook the pasta for the mac&cheese, do what you normally do.. But add finely minced bacon into it. Ask Ma(or Pa) to make it for you(and just you :dur: )

@Eggs: That seems a bit different than what I expect.. Then again.. I don't consider ketchup or.. Mustard(yuck) normal with eggs. But hey, people like their eggs the way they want them

Personally? I've given more than enough food for thought on the topic of eggs alone.. But for me, if I'm making scrambled.. It's either gotta be super creamy, butter goodness... Or it's essentially a shapeless omelet. Toast the inside of a croissant or do a tortilla, and I'll call it done ^_^

Btw, neat trick.. But if you wanna make a breakfast burrito.. Nothing beats using Spanish rice, veg, and chopped up tortilla. Yes, you heard me right. Tortilla on the inside AND outside. Torillaception. Nothing but greatness

@Baloth: Oh, no. I wasn't asking for myself. Just curious as to what most people consider normal.

@Beta: Oh, yes, mac n cheese with bacon is divine. My mom has this really good recipe she makes... mmm, so good.

Do people eat mustard with their eggs? Never have I ever heard of that before.

And what's so great about putting the tortilla inside and outside?

No, mustard in eggs is weird, period :wat: I just had a friend that thought it was the best.. I did not share in that sentiment

Honestly, ketchup n tobasco/hot sauce seem to be some common choices

Also.. It's not why you put the torillaception, but how :wat: Use it to soak up that juicy goodness from the vegg or rice.. So much yes

I've not heard of folks using worcestshire sauce on eggs but hey to each their own. I usually make eggs over easy with salt, pepper, tabasco, and parsley.

I'm in charge of dinner again tonight, so I just sliced some steak into thin strips and have it marinating in a sesame/soy sauce with crushed ginger and a red chile

I plan on doing a str fry since it's easier to do in bulk. Obviously doing rice with it bc I can't be helped to make a ton of noodles. Just gotta boil it up, throw in some nutmeg, soy, and a touch of crushed pineapple. Not even gonna fry it up or anything

Also got some shiitake mushrooms to go with the steak bits & just bc I can, a small block of tofu that I'm gonna cut and pan fry in the aftermath

Also gonna toss it along with snow peas, green & red pepper, spring onion, carrot peels, and chopped broccoli. Finish off with this [&@%!] sauce I bought from a nearby restaurant, and it should be done. Or at least, that's what I'm hoping :S. I hope I got enough beef. If not, I can always scramble an egg for the extra protein

I just came back from a mac & cheese festival. Who knew there were such things? Not me. Anyway, I'm feeling slightly sick right now, but gosh, they had some good mac & cheese there. The two best were this deep-fried jalapeno mac & cheese with sriracha ketchup, and this smoky bacon mac & cheese with sundried tomatoes. Oh, so good.

They also had, surprisingly, dessert mac & cheese. One was s'mores and one was apple cinnamon. Both were most interesting.

A festival for macaroni and cheese? I'm so surprised about this that I cannot think what to say.

All of those selections sound tasty indeed. Do you intend to recreate any at home?

Right? We were at church this morning, and a family friend said "Hey, we're going to the Mac & Cheese Festival for lunch, want to come?". And of course we said yes, surprised as we were, because who wouldn't want to go to a mac & cheese festival? It was pretty great. Just a bunch of booths serving mac & cheese, run by various local restaurants. You got tickets to spend at the booths, and as you left, you voted for the best. I think it was to raise money for something. Not sure what for, though.

Mac and cheese festival? I..... it's...... ok. It's an ok meal but never heard of such a thing being granted a festival. That and over here, we just have the canned stuff as the common stuff. At least, down in my part of England.

Following up on what i partly said in the WHTYT thread, I intend to revive my creativity.

I found these small cubes of potateoes in Asda and intend to have them with noodles. Not the instant kind but either egg noodles or something else noodles.

I've been having salads twice a week and making them via salad packs. So far, tis cheaper then a single salad. Ran out of ideas though and am bored of it. I may do a small hmm... not a deli style dinner but random healthy bits lunch. E.g. Corn on the cob with fruit. May do medi veggies with something else. Maybe fish though again, it's a cost issue.

Just make sure that you include some protein in your meals. It'll help you stay fuller longer.
Aarah wrote:All of those selections sound tasty indeed. Do you intend to recreate any at home?
Look! A sneaky edit!

Hmm, probably not. It's too much work. Cooking really isn't my passion. Just eating. So if someone else felt like recreating some of the dishes, I'm not going to complain.

Potato cubes? They sound like they would be good to fry and have in the salads. Are they from a tin?

@Cass

It wasn't a sneaky edit, you just replied too soon. :P

They are called something potateoes, Aarah and fairly big. Think they are the size of small potateoes.

Hmm, I'll have to look out for them.
I'm only familiar with standard potatoes (Maris Piper, etc), new/baby/charlotte potatoes, and the tinned variety.

We have festivals for all kinds of things where I come from: Bacon, Watermelon, Strawberries, Vegetarians(no we don't eat them), and Tomatoes to name a few.. We just like the excuse to drink and buy cheesy festival mementos.

A mac n cheese festival would be the perfect place to get a cheesy momento.
I'm now curious what mementos you've picked up at said festivals.

I've gotten patches of said foods, so I have watermelons, strawberries and strips of bacon on my bag in fabulous fabric form. I also have found a buddha sculpted out of what seems to be dried bacon. Whatever works I suppose.

Oh and one time I found a P.E.T.A. sticker but instead of PETA it was People Eat Tasty Animals. As a vegetarian at the time; I had to have it of course.

Some of the parts are not safe for work or well, generally stuff that most people won't eat. Even I wouldn't give it a chance and I give anything a go. Apart from human and pepsi. Pepsi continues to be foul.

Tonight, I'm having Egg Noodle with Sainsbury's chicken Paella. It's techincally meant to be microwaved but I'm saying screw that, i'm stir frying it via a wok. It's only heating it up and the worse thing that occurs is that I play the game of thrones.

I did have a nice pigs blanket bap today but i got seagulled. :( Worse, I purposely went another route to avoid that occuring.

I don't know why but ever since I woke up I've had a serious hankering for hash browns and yet that's not gonna happen today. But I mean seriously I'm like really wanting some hash browns. I would drive a nail into my eyeball for hash browns.

Haven't heard of this? Will look into it and get back to ya. Dude it's what we do. Think The Office. If it makes you feel any better Piers Morgan was a devastating blow to the US.

1) As much as I would like to talk about hash browns, I won't, for Leroy's sake

2) So instead, I'll talk Mac. But seriously tho.. I haven't made homemade Mac n Cheese since I was 17 <_< I mean.. It's not hard. Cook the pasta, add your choice of cheeses, season, then finish off in the oven for that nice golden top. And here's the funny thing, I don't even like the stuff :/

Still tho.. I believe last time all I did was add a block of three different cheddars >_> but again, I didn't do too much. It all came down to the cheeses I used

But if I had to do it again? Well then.. White cheddar and Parmesan? Smoked cheddar and M.Jack? I'm not a fan of cheeses.. But I suppose those pair nicely. Tho... Gouda on it's own wouldn't hurt.. Anyways. Cook the pasta in water touched up with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for that extra flavor. . Meat? Can't go wrong with thick cut bacon for either cheeses.. Tho, chorizo certainly could go well with the Cheddar/M.Jack. And you know what? I personally wouldn't pass up the chance of adding spinach to something when I can get away with it(Blasphemy! I know) Sprinkle in some parsley too for garnish, crushed red pepper for any extra kick.. and toast off in the oven

(Great, now I wanna go cook it)
