I guess that depends on how accurate you think an anonymous note in a ruined fort is going to be... 
Also as a matter of curiosity how are you getting the 1/8?
My math is a little rusty but I've had a quick mess around and keep getting 1/5.5 miles or thereabouts for each rectangle.
