I wouldnt consider myself religious but ive read it, and you are right. Dave begat bill, bill begat greg, greg begat vivvec, so on and so forth.

Everyone should read it, not only is it amazing literature, it has good values in it if your christian or not. I could actually go on for a while promoting it. Despite all that, would you believe me if i told you i wasnt christian? (If im taking it too far let me know mods ill delete this)

I read the bible too. It was sort of entertaining, but I read it more in an "know thine enemy" way.

There should be no reason to lock this... It is all just comments on a book, Er... well books...

I've took alot from the Bible, Solomons writing is very insightful, and you can take alot away from his books. His story is also a great one. Even the wisest man can fall into temptation.

Now all this is just comments on a book. NOT THE RELIGION. So there should be no reason for a lock.

I'll refer from commenting anymore on the subject then, if it is against rules.

My lifes philosophy is: "If the vikings didnt do it, it aint worth doing".

Edit:

Yeah me too! Thats what I bring at parties! Good for clobbering people too, at least before you and your friends have had a grisly feast and theres only bones left.

You have a slight obsession with vikings dont you? Not that theres anything wrong with that, thats like saying you have an obsession with awesomeness.

You should taste! Its great!

Hmm yes I suppose I do. My girlfriend does aswell, as does most of our friends. Our apartment is full of viking art, pictures and weapons and at parties we always play viking style metal and folk music. But hey, we're proud of our cultural heritage and should be allowed to be

I believe I've read somewhere that the horned helmets are historically inaccurate....
but I could be wrong
You are very correct. Horned helmets are a product of "romanticism" in modern times as well as christian drawings showning them with horns becaus they wanted them to look like devils. Considering they wrecked their churches and so on.

Few vikings actually had helmets at all, because they werent cheap to make. Chainmails were more common actually.

Edit: I dont know why my signature has horns, but I think its awesome enough to pass, even with them. Would be way better without though.
This made me change my signature. Cant have historic inaccuracies from me! At least not concerning vikings!

Hes not the strongest, hes the best. Strength has little to do with fighters when it comes to fighting as a sport.

Wrestling is a fantastic sport. I took it in high school also. What weight class are you in?

Wrestling is by far the most physically demanding sport ive ever endured. Ive played football, soccer, ive been taking kung fu for years now and obviously wrestling. When it comes to physical demand, wrestling is in a league of its own. You said once before you were chubby, this sport will give you a six pack. You shouldnt wrestle for that reason though, you should wrestle cause you enjoy it.

You should keep up the wrestling and boxing. You can be an awesome fighter one day, just takes time and practice. If you quit one of them id say quit the boxing and take up a martial art.

Nice, traditions and heritage are important. You still havent answered the question about what believes those people didnt like which you have, but if you prefer not to I understand. You should keep up the fighting too, one day the time will come when you'll really need it.
WolfGang IceEye wrote:We are the valley central VIKINGS.
You know, many scholars believe that when the viking chieftain Rurik took control of the city of Novgorod in 862 A.D. (without any bloodshed btw, he was chosen), he "founded" Russia by keeping the various people in west-Russia from fighting each other. So yea, valley central vikings! :)

I'd comment that this thread is straying a bit off topic, but that would be stating what's been obvious for a long time

Wow, I realize it's been a dreadfully long time since you actually posted this... but every time I think to recommend something... I'm either at school, the library, a concert, etc.... so.... sorry ...

Anyway! I highly recommend these songs:

Tiny Dancer
Rocket Man
Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know if we've done this yet, but how about favourite movies?

My all time favourite movie is Reign Over Me, and these are some runner-ups [in order of best to worst]:

The Dark Knight
LoTR movies
Batman Begins
Green Street Hooligans
Sweeney Todd
Eight Crazy Nights
Star Wars Movies

And a few more things about me:
- I once stayed up for two whole days without feeling tired at all... But during the second half of that period, I had an unquenchable hunger [....for blood :P]
- I have a crazy math teacher, who likes to throw spears at us....
- I have a crazy chemistry teacher (Mr. Garner says, "Only 1 mole fits in the mole hole"), who.... well.... is just plain crazy....
- I have begun to paint again. I was "hired" by my Latin teacher [by hired, I mean of course that I have to do it on my own time, with my own paint, and I'm not getting paid.... but I get the credit!] to re-paint one of the Roman Gods. Specifically Pluto [Hades]. It's not quite done yet [as it obvious], and the camera doesn't do it justice [as it's a cruddy camera], but I think it's turning out quite nicely

Actually Deandra, I completely agree with what you're saying only because it is in the rules; however, this thread has taken on an interesting ability: It can change subjects without actually being considered "spam" in the common sense of the term. I shall coin the term "Dynamic Thread", a thread that has the unique ability to hold one different topic after another without falling into a spam-inundated state. As I coin that term I would like to advocate for the continuation of this thread for as long as possible. As long as it keeps up the smooth transitions into different topics, even if loosely grounded by the origional, I believe this thread to be forum-worthy.

However, the fact remains that you are the mod and you shall do whatever you see fit.

On a lighter note: Mrs. T (pause for laughs), I noticed you say you collect avatars. Have you collected mine? I'd be so honored if you said yes; even if you didn't mean it!

Vargon: I really want to get to know you... more and more things in common are found every day and I swear your personality is just like mine. I even like walking on my toes, too. Weird, huh? (Actually it's kind of creepy that we have that in common).

although i don't really think this thread is that bad, and that any mods have seriously considering closing it (correct me if i'm wrong) i'd just like to point out:
all the things we've been talking about, music, films etc... we could have (and in most cases have had) loads of different threads starting with "What's your favourite..." or the like. but i think it's better to keep things all nice and tidy in one thread, so this thread might actually be seen as an improvement.

so, fave films:
LotR, PotC, Gladiator, Troy, Kind Arthur, Secret Garden, Pride and Prejudice, and i quite like harry potter too...
