So what has the Dovah been up to? Nothing. Still not getting interviews. Still getting bloody rejected, still getting my arse kicked by laziness, still fighting the darn snooze button. In fact, if i ever find the person who invented the snooze function, I will throw pies at them and not the good pies, the Fay Bentos pies after making them spend hours to open it. Or I just really hate snooze and want it to be eliminated. But the pie version is more amusing. Right?

Anyway, nothing worth mentioning in my life. Really hoping to get employed this month as I do not want to reach 24 and be jobless. Tis bad enough i've spent all my adult life either jobless or in further education and am at the point where I need to start my career which is holding me back in terms of starting my life properly. THat and having some bloody cash for my birthday without worrying abut will I end up screwing myself over if i spend it would be nice.

I'm doing a First Aid level 2 course on Thursday. Should be fun. Annoyingly, it is on the day where I run out of food and unless I do some creative fudging with my food budget(which, I probably could squeeze out a few quid), it is best I use £5 to eat that day. Usually, I use the change from my bus fair for lunch along with a sandwich. What? That change isn't much and in a way, keeps me happy.

Tis a mystery to why I can't break through the interview stage. Literally every service I've been referred to have said this.

That and there are some signs that there is an incredibly low chance of me slipping down the path I went on last year. Tis the struggling to wake up part. Stupid body. Let me wake up and stop the snoozebutton! AARGH!

But yeah, the endless quest for a job continues!

TLDR: Dovah is doing first aid(*insert terrorified at the mere prospect of Dovah doing first aid joke here*), Dovah still can't get bloody interviews. Dovah hates laziness and snooze button.

I'm back in college for my last semester, and three things happened.

1. I found out that your fitness takes a severe hit if you don't exercise for 2 months at a time. I can still run a kilometer in less than 5 minutes, but then I basically just want to die afterwards.

2. I started taking some maths classes in the maths school and just, Jesus. I'm not sure if this is usual, but the professor doesn't put workings up, ever. Literally just jots down the form with the belief that figuring out the workings is the simple part. The actual maths majors also don't take notes either. Whilst I'm furiously jotting down every single piece of insight there is, they're just sitting there - some of them don't even seem to be paying attention. It's led to the obvious conclusion that they're mutants, [&@%!] mutants.

3. I have also spent 4 hours this morning, and about 3 hours last night, working to manually reassign a number of outdated codes from a BLS data product to the standard on the American Community Survey. Not for fun or anything - I have to do this. I'm having a difficult time finding the words to describe out terribly boring it is.

I've had the pleasure of interacting with a lot of "math people" in my short but colorful life and I can confirm that they (or at least quite a few of them) have some kind of freaky mental powers; you kind of have to if you want to do mathematics full-time as a career. It puts being a computer science major in a whole new light when you can spend hours trying to figure out an algorithm that a math major can compute within a couple of minutes. I think these are the same kind of people who interpret "this system can not be hacked, cracked, or modified" as a challenge.

Re: Maths stuff. I took a Maths module at University and had the same problem. First assignment I did came back with an A4's worth of working circled with 'You should be able to do this in your head' written next to it. But then when I re-trained into IT I had to redo school and college-level Maths and discovered I had picked up (or been taught) the basic stuff in a weird way. Which wouldn't have helped. :/

Everything around me is breaking it seems. My mind, my laptop, life in general, people around me, our equipment, my car, etc. I watch as everything decays around and inside me. It sucks.

In other news, I'm seriously considering going off antidepressants entirely and just dealing with depression or using more natural, less shady, less damaging alternatives. I met with my general practitioner doctor and he doesn't seem at all hostile to the idea. I'm not very trusting of corrupt companies. I'm also finally seeing a psychiatrist tomorrow. My schedule is packed.

For the past 3 days, I've been doing a mentorship placement at my local museum (all grade 11's have to do a mentorship, at my school). It was super fun, and I think that it's going to be helpful when I have to choose what program I want to go into after high school. Museum curator/ archivist remain high on my list of job possibilities.

Also, unrelated but just as important: I put my hair in pigtails for the first time since dying it, and this has got to be the most anime-worthy I've ever felt in my life. It's a beautiful thing. Now all I need is a magical girl outfit, and I'll be good to go.

It's purple. So I'm not going to be cosplaying as Madoka anytime soon, but I think that I could pull off "generic magical girl".

My hair is more this colour. And I've got blue eyes, too. So hey, it's basically me in anime form (but like, a 100x prettier version of me).

So, Life has decided to kick me whilst i'm down. I have 4 months to find a new place to live on top of finding a job. Just great. If I can't get a job, well, I am [&@%!] and will end up on the streets and if that occurs, I am likely to just flat out give up. Just [&@%!] my life. God, I hope I get a job by the end of this month.

Hopefully. The way I see it, something is bound to turn up soon as it seems for every crap load of bad stuff that happens, one good thing occurs and hopefully, that will be a job by the end of this month. It'll be fairly easy(i mean, I don't mind living on £400 a month after rent) to get a place but the whole job aspect is something that can really [&@%!] me over.

EDIT: I can live on what would be left over. Just need a full time job by the end of next month ideally. I hope i'm right and I am employed then.

Today I learned how to use git. Basically. No sooner did I put up a backup repository online than someone asked me for the link and started tearing apart my code. It's good fun. I like having online backups for my code.

Today, I had a darn good opportunity passed to me and the site that it was on decided to be dr [&@%!]. As in, refusing to work properly and if it just cost me an entire hour's work, all of England will hear me roar with rage. Took me a bloody hour. ONE. HOUR. I do not want to redo it because the site played up. My stress levels may go through the roof if that occurs. Only thing I can do is wait for a damn confirmation of application email.

That sucks, man. If you don't get the confirmation definitely redo it today though. The number of times I've seen a job listing and gone 'that's cool, I'll do that tomorrow' and just got 'this position is no longer available' the next day...

Stiff upper lip, old bean. Back to Blighty by Christmas, and all that.

-----

And oh yeah, "Valentine's Day." Well I spent all evening on the xbox - so does that make my Dark Souls character my waifu?? If so then I must apologise, mio amore, for mis-timing that jump onto the aqueduct (oops) ... and also for getting sat on by the Demon Firesage (eek) ... and also for trying to block the Centipede Demon's power attack (oo, lava) ... and uh, Bed of Chaos ... oh dear ...
