Role playing in Vanilla Morrowind
New Year, so naturally a new Morrowind Playthrough. This time though I'm not using any mods, no unofficial patches, and no expansions. Also, for the first time, I'm trying my best at a serious Role play. My character is a Redguard named Yorfeth Sight-seer. Playing as a custom class, that's warrior focused. I'm probably going to join the Legion and try to be a good doer, right wrongs and such. I just wanted to hear about everyone's current role play characters, specifically people playing fresh out of the box Morrowind.

Well, I love going minimal on patches and content, but I can't speak enough for the unofficial patches, it really does fix up a lot of issues and bugs, and if you wanted to run with only one mod, I'd recommend that one at the very least since it's so good.
Anyway, the last roleplay I did was for an Imperial Agent as the first time I used a generic class. It was actually a really fun game, and I went for a smooth talker and someone who'd either go the nonviolent way or would just stab you in the back if he had to get his hands dirty. I had the Lady birthsign, because it was the one that corresponds to my real life birth month, and it has the happy coincidence of also providing a personality boost in addition to the class boost, so I started with 85 personality and with the good Speech and Mercantilism right out of the gate, it really made a difference for me being able to use a more persuasive character to change it up.
So, he was an Imperial agent, a specialist in the behind the scenes stuff, and he was a loyal Blades agent. He also got in tight with the Hlaalu as a means of making in-roads towards good relations with the Dunmer, and the way I had it in my mind and "story", he was fairly surprised that the Emperor was sending him to fulfill the Nerevarine Prophecy and actually become a hero instead of just being an agent of the Blades who happened to be gathering the intel for his superiors.
I'd like to imagine that he took the job quite seriously, though, and came to embrace that maybe he was supposed to be the true Nerevarine. Or, at least he was convincing in the role since he was such a great and charismatic person. Of course, it's definitely an adjustment to going from jail to having to embrace a foreign culture and become the leader of a religion he didn't initially believe in.

I always try to get in some minor roleplaying in games like these. Don't run and jump too much, avoid grinding skills, sleep at nighttime if convenient, use gear appropriate to your character concept, maybe eat and drink something every 24 hours.
Join only appropriate factions is a given, but I also try to avoid random quests who wouldn't seem interesting to my character, even if I know the rewards are useful.

I got to thinking... maybe I'm the Prince of Destruction, and I just don't know it yet.
