Steam Skyrim Special Edition Launcher
I am having a problem with Steam's Skyrim Special Edition Launcher. Whenever I try to launch the game, all it does and reload the launcher. I haven't played it for a while, so I don't know when this problem could have started because I have been playing ESO quite a bit lately. Does anyone know what might be causing this to happen?
PS: I am also having problems with another of my Steam Games, Saints Row IV. The game is acting like I don't have a save device selected, but I don't have the option of choosing a save location. Not to mention my previous save files no longer show up. I will try playing some of my other games to see if they have problems as well.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. Does the launcher appear?dragonfett wrote:Whenever I try to launch the game, all it does and reload the launcher.

I have since tried playing another game on Steam, Call of Duty: Ghosts and it works just fine.

then backup your saves, they are in "user"/ducuments/my games/skyrim (if saved on computer, if on steam cloud then you only need to backup your mods and write down you mod order) then delete local files of skyrim and re-download. or your script extender or other hard change to game gone bad (if you have one). i don't .i only get very rare ctd when alt-tabbing back to game. lots of mods = lots of problems.

Sorry to hear about your troubles brother.
Question. Do you have both SSE and the original Skyrim both installed?

It's been a while since I really did anything on my pc, given its non-working state, but I think it's possible that having those two versions of Skyrim on your computer may be a source of confusion for your machine.
Does Original Skyrim work just fine or is that having the same issue?

Re: Steam Skyrim Special Edition Launcher
AFAIK, it's supposed to be a completely different game, built to be on a PC alongside with the original release.

Re: Steam Skyrim Special Edition Launcher
The SSE files are probably in their own folder (I wouldn't know, I don't play it). Deleting them will have the game replace them with the default versions, which may allow it to load if any of the values were causing problems.dragonfett wrote:No, I did not.Tingz0r wrote:Did you try deleting the Skyrim and SkyrimPrefs files in Documents -> My games -> Skyrim?dragonfett wrote:Ok, so I tried uninstalling and re-installing the game and it didn't work. Re: Steam Skyrim Special Edition Launcher
The original does still run fine, more or less (I stopped playing when I found myself trapped on Solstheim, stuck in a loading screen that never went away if I tried to leave the island). Granted, I don't know if my other characters have been affected.Secret Magic User wrote:It's been a while since I really did anything on my pc, given its non-working state, but I think it's possible that having those two versions of Skyrim on your computer may be a source of confusion for your machine.

Re: Steam Skyrim Special Edition Launcher
Alright, so I finally figured out how to get Skyrim Special Edition to run on my computer. I decided to open Nexus Mod Manager thinking it was a problem with some mods (only to realize that I had uninstalled all mods through it), I noticed and remembered that I can launch the game from NMM, so I decided on whim to give it a try. NMM launched the SSE launcher, and this time when I hit Play, it actually started the game!
