Help me build a Gaming PC

Post by Maxrebo »

I am sorry to have to ask this again but the other times sadly I wasn't able to follow through for various reasons. But now this time I gonna finally be able to get dream gaming pc without a doubt.

Some quick info before posting a link to my idea for a build
I am in the US,I plan on having my PC built since I just don't confident in doing that myself and I much rather pay the extra to not have worry about that.I thinking of buying from NCIXUS thought any advice will be appreciated.

I looking to build a really strong PC for playing the latest games with mods.I not gonna be doing Animation or Movie Making though I am considering maybe trying to do some LP's

Here is my planned Build

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/maxrebo2/ ... iew=sdbXLk any tips, advice,or improvements that could help or save cost is appreciated. The only thing I know for sure is I am not building it myself.

Here's one that's along the same lines, although it only has 8GB of RAM, and a different GPU.

Whatever way you go, I suggest picking up a 240 GB SSD (they're about 50$). I store my OS on it and whatever game I'm playing at the moment, and the boot and load times are much better, at least for me (30 second boot baby, solves all ya problems 8) ).

Thanks for the help,I also asked a similar question on Tom's Hardware. Some one there suggested an alternate build that looks very interesting. Here's a link.

You can't go wrong with either build really. Both have good upgrade paths, and are SLI capable, so if you need to upgrade at some point you'll have no problems. If it was my choice, I'd go with the 1080 build; it should perfom slightly better overall.

If you can, I suggest changing the monitor to something more like this one. With a top-level graphics card like those, a higher refresh rate on the monitor should make everything look smoother.

I am thinking of going with the second build with the 1080 and obviously an SSD and the new monitor you suggested. But before I purchase it and lock it in I have a few quick questions.

1.Can that rig play Skyrim Regular and Special Edition,Fallout 4,The Witcher 3 and the upcoming System Shock Remake at max settings including with mods ? Plus is it reasonably future proof ? I can always upgrade when needed but will this last me a while ?

2.So I don't need sound card at all ? I thought for some reason that if I didn't get one that I would either have no sound or it be the awful sounding PC Speaker like you had as choice on old dos games that I have played.

3.I planning I buying from NCIXUS and making use of their build it function ? Maybe later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. But I feel the need to ask are they're any worthwhile rigs on Amazon just asking since I have Prime so the I wouldn't mind taking that fast shipping ? But I also don't get a bad rig or any unnecessary risk of getting screwed.

Thanks for the advice so far,and I will be sure to post when I make my purchase.

1. Depends on the mods, but if it can't run it then nothing can; same thing for Fallout 4. TW3 shouldn't have any issues, unless you plan to play on Ultra at 4K. For System Shock I don't even know if they list recommended specs yet, but the 1080 is the most powerful modern card, so it will be fine.

As far as future proofing, you should be more than fine for several years. The motherboard supports SLI (If down the road you want to put another 1080 in), supports 64GB of RAM (I don't know a game that uses over 16GB), and the i5 is a very serviceable CPU, albiet not absolute top of the line

2. I've never used a soundcard, but I'm not an audiophile so I can't say whether that's bad or not. Here's a video explaining the differences between onboard sound, a soundcard, and a DAC:

3. You might take a look at this one: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtr ... s=GTX+1080. It only has 8GB of RAM, doesn't come with an SSD, and I have no idea if the MOBO supports SLI, but it has an i7 going for it.

Everything looks cool to me. You might look up videos about how to get the OS, SSD, MOBO and Hard Drive to work together, because you might have to edit something in the UEFI, but everything should be fine regardless.

I don't have to worry about that since I am having NCIX build it so they will take care off all that.

So when this computer comes in I will be able to play all the games.Regardless of exclusivity.
