I just saw My Neighbor Totoro for the first time....Man that movie poked at me in so many ways.

The mom part especially, with her illness and close-calls in the past. I know personally what it's like to almost lose a parent twice, so that got some feels and some teary eyes from me.

And seriously, THAT is how you use your supernatural elements. Don't make them constantly felt, don't make them a climax only appearance. Give us enough to be awed at them while still retaining the impact of their appearances.

And that soundtrack is absolutely amazing! So much so I bought it while I was still watching the movie, I could hear the soul of it very early on.

Up next is....The Wind Rises, unless I get Spirited Away before that.

I just saw The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension for the very first time...

...I don't know if I need a drink-- or I already had one without realizing it.

PS: At least I found the song to use as my ringtone.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I watched Psycho for the first time. Was thoroughly creeped out, despite my having heard about the twist beforehand. It's a brilliant movie, no doubt about it. It shows that you have no need for fancy special effects or action sequences to create something quite terrifying.

Watched all 4 Pirate of the Carribean films. The third one is rather weak. It's a good film but so many wasted oppurtinities and it seems that it became all about Elizabeth and Will's romance with the pirate-y stuff in between. 4 goes back to being excellent. There are a lot of questionable stuff about Elizabeth.
Spoiler:
Why is she allowed to become captain? Pretty sure Shao Feng would have had his first mate as successor or his crew wouldn't believe Elizabeth. How did she go from being a citzen to someone that can kick arse? Since when did she know so much about sailing? Little to nothing shown in the films but I admit, i'm just nitpicking.

The main battle of 3 is decent but come on, you had two armandas! What a waste!
Watched a new series produced by the British Broadcaster, ITV. It's called Victoria and is rather interesting. It focuses on a younq queen Victoria and I'm finding myself enjoying it. Not usually one for dramas of this type but it is intriguing. Sadly, because it is on the same time as TNA IMPACT Wrestling, I am forced to put TNA as a priority due to how interesting it has became. It used to have a reputation for being pure garbage but it has slowly rebounded from it.

Watched Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares every night or most nights for the past few days and yes, I caught Amy's Baking Company. Just wow.

Really been meaning to give Akira a proper watch. May do so tuesday evening.

Watched a drama called Ellen. Twas excellent and left on a very dark cliff hanger.

I've been watching Hannibal, I'm towards the end of Series 1 at the moment. Really liking it so far, it makes fantastic of dramatic irony, so when the audience knows something the characters don't.

It's kind of something I wish they do more in adapations and remakes where the audience can be assumed to have basic knowledge of the story. Every watching would know Hannibal is a serial killer so instead of trying the hide it, the show constantly makes you privy to info the characters don't know and uses it for both drama and comedy to great effect. It's really well done.

I watched FREEEDDDDUUUUM:The movie. Sorry, just couldn't help but reminded of TF2's heavy shout of that. I watched Braveheart. Excellent film. Yes, it's inaccurate and pretends to be accurate but it is still an excellent piece. Great action, set up William Wallace very well, didn't need to flat out state the obvious and it didn't. It pretty much summed up it's version of Wallace well. Mel Gibson did an excellent job of directing it and the battles do not drag on. Some action films have a tendecy to drag out battles for the sake of action and it harms it. The Hobbit 3, it is one massive dragged out battle. Braveheart? It gets to the point, shows what battles are actually like and doesn't hold back. Think AGOT managed to match the quality of battles.

Probably watch either The Last Samuri tomorrow or Lara Croft. Trying to watch at least 3 films from my collection every week.

Watched the Transporter today. Jason Statham looks rather young in it and it was the film that put him on the map. The fights are unusual and creative. Kinda ventures into Jackie Chan terrority but instead of humour, it uses stuff most folks won't think off. Plot is good, not the best and a bit cliched but good. Action is excellent and the sequences are excellent. Does have a few questions about what the transporter would have done with two minor characters due to the law but well, the film takes care of that.

Watched 30 seconds of Marley and Me:The puppy years. No.

Just no. I deny that it exists. I deny the concept of it. I deny it because that ain't Marley and Me. How did they go from a sad but excellent film about a misbehaving dog that actually loved everyone and twas very sad due to what happens to....this?

Did someone just go "I know, we'll slap the name...." They did, didn't they? Gosh darnit, Hollywood. Stop ruining stuff!

Still denying the film. Need to find a way to erase those 30 seconds from my brain. I could make good use of it. Say, for example, look at a wall. Much better concept. Simple, does what it needs to do. 10/10. Marley and Me:The Puppy Years. 0/10. If a film makes me never want to watch it based on 30 seconds, I know it is one of those rare so bad it is actually lethal to watch. Only the live action resident evil films after 3, Cique De Freak and erm... no, that's about it share that amount of quality. That and the Resident Evil films make me go "No! Oh come on, really? Why is Alice the one to do it? Come on! stop being a mary sue! Of course, they butcher that character because Alice must do that." I have pent up fanrage about the character of Alice.

I've been pulled into watching a Japanese drama entitled "Mischievous kiss". It started out as a joke with my sister, but now I legitimately want to watch it through. I knew that the Japanese made good cartoons, but it turns out they've got some good live action as well. :)

As if I don't already have enough I want to watch.

I caught 45 minutes of Street Fighter:the Movie in total the other day and the day that occured at some point before that. It's cheesy, it's narmy, it's overacting and it is the good kind of bad. The kind of bad where you go "This sucks but I just can't help but continue to watch this. What else will they do next?" Fufills the so bad, it's good cliche. Unlike most video game films that just fufill the "You done [&@%!] up! How could.... what the?! That is supposed!? WHAT!? RRAAAGE! RAAAGE! AAARGH!" .....

I may have a few issues with Resident Evil's live action films and that may have bled into my view of video game films.

Anyway, Street Fight has an over acting M.Bison and I never knew it was him that was the cause of the "But for me, it was tuesday" trope. Kinda is a bit Mortal Kombat-y. The fights, i mean. I mean, i kinda couldn't help but use "Finish Him." "Fatality." at the end of those scenes. Why can't video game films be this kind of suck? Instead of.......

Anger inducing ones that wants you to believe it's bs and is only watched because everyone knows how bad it is, they want to see how bad it can get and yeah, basically, [&@%!] the resident evil(after 2) films and it's mary sue protagnist that must do everything at the cost of other characters from the games.

But on a much lighter note, I watched the first Lara Croft:Tomb Raider(Should have just been Tomb Raider butwhatever). Tis a solid film but the soundtrack is forgettable and it knows what it is doing. Simple plot, goes through the motions but it is enjoyable. Angelia Jolie was the perfect choice for the role of Lara Croft. It will be interesting to see how the new rebooted film will compare to it. As long as Paul W Anderson isn't involved. Seriously, he is just as bad as Uwe Boll. :(

Been watching the new series of Red Dwarf. It started off weak but I like to think it was just the show shaking off the rust due to three years of being off the air and perhaps, not having both writers involved. Episode 3 was classic dwarf and had some nice throwbacks to the original series. Either the rest of the season will be just as good as episode 3 or I am forced to become a bitter old tv viewer and parody Old Snake's war has changed monologue. What? I'm a bit bored thus being a bit silly. Oh and watched Simpsons. Well, I say watched, more like watched edited versions of them because the channel that broadcasts them edits out a lot of stuff to the point where what is usually acceptable for most shows isn't shown. Pretty sure some of our daytime tv shows show a lot more stuff then what Channel 4 assumes it mustn't show. That and it's not the pre-season 10 episodes. It's a mixture of later seasons and i think, seasons from a few years ago. Also watch Family Guy every night(most nights). When the show works, it works. Ok, it doesn't make me laugh but it amuses me and entertain me. But when it decides to not work, it really doesn't work. I mean, it reallly doesn't work. I'm not kidding when i say this, they once used a full length music video as a joke. Not a funny one, not relating to anything just a massive timewaster. And you can kinda tell where Seth Mcfarlene lost passion with the series as well, after a certain season, it kinda went downhill. However, American Dad always retained the same amount of quality at worst, at best, continues to be an excellent cartoon for entertainment.

And this has turned from what was meant to be a small post into an essay. Erm..... I'm not saying the Prince of Knowledge, Mora caused this but Mora caused this.

I finally decided to check out Stranger Things and I thought it was very well done. I hope season 2 doesn't turn out to be a letdown. I've also been binge-watching Futurama for the last few days. It's such a great show! I'm really looking forward to both the Walking Dead and RWBY premieres in the next couple days, so I'm going to be watching those soon too.

Last night I watched Making a Guitar, a documentary about a gentleman who builds custom guitars by hand. The documentary followed almost the whole process of building the guitar from wood to finished product, and it's absolutely amazing. Watching him fit and tune the strings is like watching magic happen.

The documentary is available on YouTube and I recommend you check it out if you have exactly one hour to kill and want something relaxing to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAeXskZHC2o

I gave Atari: Game Over a watch the other night after sufficient nudging from my girlfriend.

It's actually a really sobering look at the old days of the video game industry, and makes you rethink your position on the old E.T. game. The poor guy who coded it must have gone through hell after supposedly "killing the video game industry single handedly" (which he did not).

Watching Dragonheart. Tis good so far, not expecting to veer into excellent but it seems to be doing what it wants to and seems like a good plot. Heavily reminds me of Dragon's Dogma and I swear, Jarl Balgruuf's voice actor is in this film. Watched a new comedy series called Zapped on the UK channel Dave. It's hmm..... I wouldn't class it as excellent(kinda overused that and decided to be more critical with what I use instead of saying just excellent) but it's decent. It's one of those modern day transported back to the past. In this case, it's transported to another realm of fantasy. I like their take on faires. They aren't Tinkebelles. These fairies will legitmately [&@%!] you up and they are guards. Think of Imperial Guard levels of guard. That is the type they are. Only, much meaner and have a deeper voice.

Annoyingly, the show, Humans is back on this Sunday but because Impact Wrestling is also on(and likely to not exist in 2017 due to various lawsuits, debts along with never being repeated), I'll have to settle for getting it on DVD/Bluray in the future.

Stupid TV and it's shows.

I just watched Black Mirror Series 3, it's a Sci-Fi anthology show (think Twilight Zone, every episode is a different story but they're all set in the same universe) and that show continues to be fantastic. It is seriously one of the best shows in existence. I'm 4 episodes in and I've felt basically every episode this series has been getting better and better, although I can't see them top San Junipero. The change from Channel 4 to Netflix and inclusion of well, Americans, into a British show hasn't damaged the show in the slightest. If you haven't seen the Black Mirror go, go watch it now.

Also, Screen Wipe, News Wipe, Weekly Wipe and [Year here] Wipe, another show Charlie Brooker does is great. So watch that too if you like a humorous look at television and current affairs.

I've started watching The Detectorists on Netflix and have been enjoying it more and more as I watch.
There seems to be about fifteen total British actors that are in everything they do and this one features the one-eyed guy from Pirates of the Caribbean and the dead nazi scientist from The Avengers, and they are both playing enjoyable, comical, and surprisingly well developed roles in this Quixotian masterpiece.
I highly recommend it for a good laugh and a few queazy, stomach churning, embarrassing moments.
