This weekend has been an X-Files marathon of Season 2 for us. One thing I've noticed is that Scully is always getting beat up in every episode. You'd think she'd be too traumatized to continue working haha.

X-Files will always have the magic for me.

Watched the new series of Top Gear last Sunday. Er... it's kinda bad. Chris Evans IS SHOUTING FOR NO REASON and SEEMS TO HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VOLUME OF HIS VOICE! Matt Leblanc is surprisingly good. Seems to be nervous with the presenter bits but in the films? He comes off as natural and being himself whilst occassionally playing up the American bit. Chris? STOP SHOUTING! Two forced gags in the first few minutes. One was to do with catering because erm.... it was impossible to not make the point about the wing on the car? The other was erm.... i forget.

The films made no sense for existing. One was basically "It's our first film together." One was cars with missile locks. One was Reliant Robins to Blackpool. They ditched the news segment for some reason. Ok, they haven't got rid of it entirely, just sodding put it on Extra Gear, which is annoying as i can't watch EG due to data limits. No car reviews at all on Top Gear. I repeat, no reviews on a car show. Hope it's just a case of the first episode not having a car to review. But it seems that the car bits that are important are locked behind Extra Gear on the Iplayer.

Oh and Evans is trying to be Clarkson instead of Evans. [&@%!] this show! Only, i would be lying if i said that. Annoyingly, it's still watchable and naturally, i will be giving it more chances.

Watched Castaway last night. Excellent film and not many people can carry an entire film by themselves! Nor make many people cry about a volleyball. WILSON! WILSON! I'm SORRY!

Naturally, i do expect Hollywood to [&@%!] all over it with a crap remake at some point.

I'm watching The X-Files and I can't believe that FBI agent Dana Scully just tried to arrest the real Grim Reaper.

Spoiler:
I think so. Okay I haven't seen the 2016 series but there are lots of other hints at Scully being immortal through the show, not just that episode where she is clearly said to be immortal. Like the guy who could predict how people die, when Scully asked how she died his answer was "you don't." There is an episode where people are stuck in a time loop, no explanation is ever given for how it is happening but one could be that Scully can't die, so things have to reset until she doesn't.

Unless the 2016 series changes thing I'm pretty confident that Scully is immortal.

I watched Ze Terminator and it is still wonderful. Sure, some of the effects are obvious but impressive. Such as the Terminator cutting his eye open to repair it and i do believe that the claymation terminator is really after them. Unlike certain films that rely too much on CGI. Remains one of my favourite films to this day. Terminator 2 is excellent and is the best of the franchise. If Predator didn't make Da Arhnold's career as an actor, the Terminator did. :D Shame that Terminator 4 sucked and T5 is said to be er.... meh. Tis a bit odd that Emila Clarke is Sarah Connor in 5. 3 was ok for a Terminator film. It's just there. For a film, it's very good.

Watched South Park:The Bigger,Longer and Uncut. It's a massive parody of musicals and Blame Canada should be a policy we adopt here. :P

Knew about the show since it premiered. Didn't start watching it until a few weeks ago. Now, I've watched most of the episodes available on Netflix. Love it.

Haven't watched much of anything lately. I did watch Chinatown for the first time ever a week or so ago thanks to Far Harbor (Detective elements got me enthused).

And...I absolutely loved it! Nicholson as Gittes was great, he pulled off the detective look wonderfully, while still being a good character to watch and root for. Poor guy barely gets a break. And I felt horrid for him at the end, being unable to prevent that death.

Story kept me enthralled, never got bored (Which is easy for me sometimes), the sets were great and dripped atmosphere (especially at night when Gittes is by himself).

I might watch it again in some months to a year.

I recently watched Black Mirror which is a Sci-Fi anthology show by Charlie Brooker (think The Twilight Zone) and it was really good. There's 7 episodes of it and I think it's worth checking out. Quality varies as it does with anthologies but even at its worst it wasn't bad.

I am currently enjoying the animated series of The Mummy.
It's good fun, though I'm not sure why they changed all the characters' hair colour from brown to red, but hey ho.

Watched The Hobbit films. Well, part one and two. It isn't as great as the LOTR trilogy and there is far, far too much CGI.
Spoiler:
I feel that the not show but tell rule could have improve Azog as a villian and lead to tension about the white orc being alive or not until the reveal at the end. Instead, it comes off as filler. Combat seems to be odd in the Hobbit along with the laws of physics. I mean, dwarves may be tougher but falling hundreds of feet? I'm sure that it would have killed them. But An Unexpected Journey was excellent despite Azog and a few nit picky stuff.
Spoiler:
Desolation of Smaug is erm... CGI heavy and a lot of combat scenes seem to have CGI there for no real reason. Tauriel is dangerously close to a mary sue. I mean, she seems to have no trouble killing stuff. That said, they seemed to have made all elves overpowered. The love plot between Tauriel and Killi starts off well but it just turns to crap due to well, there being virtually nothing to make them fall for each other beyond Killi wanting her for her looks and vice versa. At least, that is how it appears to me. Too much CGI in this film. It feels a bit lazy and Legolas seems to have no trouble killing stuff and invincible until Bolg. Granted, he was overpowered in the trilogy of LOTR but at least, it felt like he was actually fighting and going all out. Here? Not much effort. Tauriel is just meh. She literally serves no purpose for the overall plot and they do an Arwen/Frodo. They also kinda ruin the first dwarf/elf relationship in a long time between Legola and Gimli due to relationships being bad because this happens. And well, Tauriel is just a shallow character. No real development. Seems to just appear to save people or kill stuff or save people or stuff. The CGI is very odd. It can look good to the point where I can't tell if it's an actual actor protraying that or CGI to blantant CGI. Seriously, why CGI them at random? Still, a good film. Doesn't disappoint but Tauriel is out of place. Feels forced and thrown in.
Should watch the disappointing Battle of the Five Armies. I kinda don't want to due to how lacklustre it is. Also, how did DOS get rated 12!? It has disembered deer in it! Quite detailed as well. Ratings are weird.

Watched both Avengers films. First one is excellent. Second one is also excellent but Marvel has made a mistake with the other MCU films. I mean, the way the film starts, it kinda brings up the question "So this is a cause for the Avengers. Instead of..." events of Iron Man 3, Captain America etc... At least, Ant-Man made fun of it. But yeah, Marvel needs to try to address why the Avengers aren't getting involved during the films. Just to get it out of the way. Also, there needs to be a new Hulk film. There won't be as i think, Universal still has the rights to all Hulk films whilst Marvel has the right to using the character in different films. Hope Spiderman joins the Avengers for the third film and we get to see what a really angry Hulk is like. I don't feel that we've seen what he is really like when he gets really, really angry.
Spoiler:
Granted,

Tony Stark did succeed in [&@%!] him off in their fight but that doesn't seem to be pure anger and well, it is more forced anger due to Scarlet Witch forcing him to Hulk out.

Watched Battle of the Five Armies and it is somehow more disappointing then it was before. I watched it with no expectations and yet, it still managed to disappoint. It comes off as rushed, trying to be cool and just forgets what the first and second films did right.
Spoiler:
I find Tauriel to be just meh. She seems to have two modes. Badass she-elf because she is a badass, trust us, she is badass guys. She look how she kicked their arses, mode. And "I love Filli." There is no character development and the romance is badly done. There is less then 5-6 scenes of them interacting in total and whilst it started off well, it kinda devolved into forced shipping. Did they really need to do the Arwen/Frodo scene? Did they really need to have her save the dwarves repeatly? She is just forced into the film and it shows. I have heard that she is meant to be the unnamed captain of the guard and that is fair enough. Problem is, they took her outside of that role and just made her meh. It also contradicts the no known good relationships between dwarves and elves lore. Thus Gimli and Legolas being a major step to the relationships of both races being fixed. Only mentioning it because she is a major character. Also, she disappears. Not addressing that? no? That's annoying, film.

The battle of Five(four) armies is underwhelming and seems to be wanting to get it out of the way. It is rather jarring how quick it proceeds and there are some parts that does make one go "Did they cut that scene out?" Too much CGI is used in the battle and it results in a lacklustre battle. Dain Ironfoot is completely CGI and whilst it is understandable due to Sean Connelly having Parkinsons, it's sticks out like a sore thumb. Couldn't they have gone the Darth Vader route? Another person plays the physical role but Connelly voices Dain? Also, not a single volley.

Smaug's death is handled well but the way Bard used the blackarrow kinda is odd. ERm... wouldn't a destroyed bow result in a destroyed bow string and i thought black arrows required a certain thing to fire? They showed us it in the previous film yet they didn't use it? Did Smaug destroy it? Did they forget about it?

Big worms. No. Just no. It's.... no. That is...... no. Just no.

The battle is just underwhelming.

Legolas seems to have the "Physics immunity" perk as he abuses it. The bit with the sword was cool and whilst i doubt a bow could fire it, it's cool.

Azog's and Thorin's fight did start off well but Azog seemed to have grabbed another weapon out of nowhere and well, it kinda begs the question why the pale orc thought that a makeshift fail would be better then his mace. Did he lose it? Did he get cocky? Feels like they cut out a scene that showed it. Filli and Killi's death should have been a last stand and could have been used to get Thorin an opening.

Thorin's death was stupid. Just stupid. I mean, getting himself stabbed just to stab him back? It comes off as "Er.... he lets Azog stab him and um..... he then stabs him back. I don't care. I finish in a minute. It's done."

I liked the Dragon Sickness scene despite the whole dragon sickness angle being a bit poor. It seems that they went with "He got better."

The battle in general is too clean. I mean, where's the blood? LOTR showed orc blood and it was rated 12 over here. Heck, DOS had disembered deer in graphical detail. Is orc blood considered to be too gory?

And how did we go from too many endings to just one? Where's Thorin's funeral? Loose ends being tied up?

That said, I do think the extended edition answers most of my points and i do think it's still a good film. Just rushed and they made a big mistake by centering it around the battle. The original name was a nice touch, There and Back again. Battle of the Five Armies states the obvious and could be spoiler terrority. Imagine if they renamed Return of the King to Battle of Minas Tirith?

But I do like the film and i have heard that Peter Jackson admitted it was rushed and the Extended Edition is considered to be what he wanted to make. Damn executive meddling.

I thought Tauriel was okay because she is a very tall elf in love with a very short and son to be very hairy dwarf. their loves is for each other is not skin deep only. yeah it could be cheesy sometimes but i like it.

they shouldn't had added legolas as a third love interest tho because it was weird. instead he should be a big brother figure to tauriel all the time.

I'm halfway through Stranger Things at the moment and I'm really liking it. I think I mentioned before that'd I'd love to see more 80s inspired horror and stuff just be 80s period pieces, because the 80s is a really interesting decade (not one I'd like to live in but fun to travel to) and the show is a period piece set in 1983 and feels like something from the 80s made in 2016 (that soundtrack.) But yeah, good so far. Winona Ryder is in it, she plays a single mom who's son has gone missing. She was also in the best "teen" film which is Heathers. If you haven't seen Heathers watch it right now. Don't look up what it's about, just go watch it.

Although casting fireball on Demogorgon? What was Will thinking? He's a demon lord, he's going to be fire resistant. The protection spell would have been a better call.

Saw the Evil Dead remake last night. As far as remakes go, it is rather good. It's not Evil Dead 2 in terms of atmosphere but it goes with what it knows it can do and it is very good. Tis horror although, it is a bit close to Saw levels of Gore. Fortunately, unlike Saw, the gore is justified. Decent selection of actors and a well done remake.

That makes this the first remake i've seen that I like and not comparing it to the original, well, Evil Dead 2 on account of Evil Dead 2 more or less being the film that made ED a thing. But it is nice that I can praise it. This is how remakes work, people! Not PG 13 Robocop that tries to be something it's not or PG Total Recall that takes away the Mars setting. Evil Dead 2013 is worth seeing.

Just discovered a gem on youtube.. how have I not subscribed to you in all my life? How the [&@%!] have I not seen you! It's.. it's.. it's like if Yatzee from Zero Punctuation had a baby with IHE that then went on to have another baby with GradeAunderA. I mean [&@%!] hell, it's comedy gold, rightly crude adult humor gold mate!

Be warned, serious insults and strong language in use. This is not for children or the easily offended

Also total segway. Check out Tears of Grace too. Been a long time fan over the year, truly one of the few genuinely good gaming channels. Plus, his editing and meming kills me everytime... but not as bad as them bad puns

I mean hell, not only do I love the topics and jokes, but his minimal animation and icon as a [&@%!] mug of ale has a bit of charm dont ya say?

So ya, excuse me rightly so, cause I know what I'm watching for my whole day off of work
