It's a bright yellow ball of fire that floats in the sky. Probably belongs to the French.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

In the life of Dovah, he may be volunteering soon. Got 4 options. Well, 3 as one is more office management and the last person i managed wanted to punch me repeatly. It was me that managed me. I kinda had no managers for a few months during my apprenticeship and like to joke about me managing myself. Going to volunteer for the NHS or try to. NHS will be a damn good thing to have on the CV and should assist with my neverending, soul crushing, self loathing filling, self doubt rising search for jobs. ......

Being jobless sucks, kids. Sure, you have a lot of free time but no cash, no sense of purpose, frustration and being viewed as scum by yourself, society, yourself, society is also there. Hopefully, it won't cost me that much on travel. I have little to no cash nowadays but have (barely) managed to sort out a healtier weekly diet. Well, by that, i mean all me weekly meals. Annoyingly, because i want them, no-where in my [&@%!] town sells cooking apples! ONLY WANT THEM FOR THE SIZE! Want to decore them, cook with dried fruit inside as soup deserts. Y U NO LET ME TOWN!? *sulks*

Bought that computer I gathered thoughts on in January.
Hidden:
CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.70 GHz

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150M-DS3H

RAM: Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR4 (I got dual channel DDR4 ram 8) )

Storage: WD Blue 1TB Hard Drive and PNY 240GB SSD (Hopefully the SSD will lower my boot time significantly)

GPU: (Haven't upgraded this yet, still running a GTX 750. Next card will either be a R7 370 or an AMD 480)

PSU: (Didn't get one of these either, I have another PSU lying around so I'm gonna use that)

Case: (Hopefully it all fits in the Vostro's case, but if it doesn't I plan to get a HTPC case like the Silverstone ML05B or the Fractal Design Node 202

Controller: Steam Controller. As much as I hate Steam, they have excellent linux support, and I couldn't give up the opportunity to try such a wacked-looking controller. I'm using an open-source controller manager (SC-Controller) and I have to say I'm impressed: Gyro, Dual Stage triggers, Dual trackpads, two extra triggers on the back, highly recommend.

OS: I've gone with MX Linux. Beautiful little distro, I have a dock that holds all my games, Playonlinux installation was painless, my controller manager starts at start up, it's great. If you have a spare harddrive that's not doing anything, you should definitely give it a spin (If you're dual booting, never, ever, under any circumstances, try to touch any of the files on your Windows harddrive. That's how I bricked the Windows XP that was on the Vostro. Better to just unplug your main Windows drive while you try MX)
It's in the mail right now, and hopefully I can put this all together and it will work.

What has the Dovah been up to of late?

Realised some life stuff. Changing self as a person, very close to volunteering with the NHS(Admin)wise, erm... keeping an offline journal to release my thoughts in a bid to deal with my life issues. Nothing major but stuff that i do not intend to share on here beyond those that i've spoken to. Discovered that Chat is viable on my 6gb data cap! :D Discovered brambley apples are awful. That's about it. Oh and nearing the 1 year anniversay of me finishing my apprenticeship. Kinda a massive downer due to me being jobless. May have to get the world's tiniest volin for that date.

Today I was able to get into a place on Planetside 1 (on the old Offline Training. Not the now defunct live server) that we weren't able to get to during all my time of playing and even before (due a bug Daybreak/SOE never fixed). The community's modding tools for the Offline mode where a huge boon for my ability to carry out for what I did. I also was able to copy someone else's script code to provide a really good base to get things where I needed them. This has little bearing on the Planetside Forever project, but since we weren't able to really see these areas for a long time, it's a big deal for the community.

Just made some breakfast since I cant sleep anyways <_< shared it with the birds

Eggs mixed with peppers, onion, cumin spiced ham, and a side of roasted cherry tomatoes

Tell me, why do both pick up a tomato and promptly throw it out so that they can get to the 'good stuff' =___= Fine! I'll eat em then!

Um...so...there's a wildfire raging two ridges away from our house. 850 acres so far and the fire department has called in reinforcements from out of state. They're not trying to contain the fire...not sure what's going on. The mountain valley we live in is covered in smoke. It's pretty stinky...and scary. We have family in town should things go haywire but I'm not ready to see our cabin in the woods burn down anytime soon. The news doesn't have much to say about it, but we all have our packs ready to go. The unfortunate thing is that my in-laws are staying with us so it's 5 of us, plus 2 cats, that we need to get out of here. And our computer. So far, the authorities haven't evacuated the valley next to ours but fires can move swiftly and change course. A friend of ours climbed up on the ridge next to ours and took a video of the fire...our house was in the distance. We're worried...plus it's hard to freaking breathe right now. Sigh. Of all the things...

Could be a potential controlled bush fire? I know some places do that to reduce the risk of potentially cataclysmic forest fires. Human intervention (both good & bad) sort of undermines the fact many forest fires are natural.. and typically small scale(since kindling never builds up enough)

I hope that's what it is :( and is in fact under controlled (wished I could say the same for the smoke)

I hope they can ensure it doesn't spread any further along and hope you'll be ok. I can't even imagine how scary it would be to just be within viewing distance of it along with the smoke. :( Just hope you'll be safe.

In Dovah news, i'm so close to volunteering again. Discovered that Sugar is key to making brambley apples taste excellent. Without it, it was the worst thing ever. Discovered Konami took down the Extras Server in MGS4 and didn't bother to inform anyone. Or at least, didn't bother alerting the gaming media. Annoying as it had 13 in game songs to download and some were iconic songs. :(

A big storm came last night. I got 4 hours of sleep. Power went out for 12 hours. 3 trees hit the house (only cosmetic damage).

I'm gonna take a nap now.

No such thing. "Land managers" like to pretend that wildfires (either naturally-caused or deliberately set) can be controlled and directed to where they want them to go, but I've seen way too many "controlled" fires go out of control to believe that for one second.

Good luck, Dohva. I'm hoping for the best for you.

I went on a stroll to catch some Pokémon and helped a hedgehog that was stuck inside a plastic bag. I'm fairly sure curling into a prickly ball is an expression of gratitude.

I introduced our 8 yr old to gangster rap today. Some might call me a bad mother, but the good sign is that he laughed. "Moooom! Why you listen to dis?" Especially when I reminded him that I'm part black and that's why I like rap music.

Gotta have a sense of humor with these kids.

Ash from the Sand Fire is getting everywhere. On the bright side, it's a sweet-smelling smoke, not acrid at all.

I almost incinerated a lil mousy :<

^ Not to get off topic but I've been trying to find veggie breakfast ideas but not motivated enough to search for more than 5 min. Part of the problem is the fact that I avoid carbs and a lot of veggie breakfasts are carb heavy. I'm not trying to go full on vegetarian but it would be nice to space out breakfasts with more veggies. I'm always looking for way to get different veggies in my diet as well.

I think come winter I will grow spinach. I dunno. I also could do swiss chard again, I think it has superior health benefits but the flavor isn't really breakfast flavor.

Today is the start of an entirely new Dovah(again). No longer am I allowing self loathing, doubt busy my mind and make me the miserable, grumpy Dovah that I've been for a while. Instead, I am going to try to prevent losing more self-esteem, sense of self-worth and try to be more positive. Instead of "I am nothing, ignore me.", it shall be "I AM THE SHEODOVAH! HEAR.ME.ROAR!" approach to things. Need to stop putting myself down so much, stop myself from instantly attacking myself when I think of what i'm good at and delete the part of me that ignores advice because it hates me. It basically means, Dovah is going to try to improve himself, become the old happy Dovah, find a decent balance between silliness(which, to be fair, I kinda have) and seriousness and Be more social.

I recalled my £20 a month for charity shops budget today and got Lord of the Rings:Return of the King's soundtrack for 50p! :D Picked up Jackson 5 and Highlights of Robert Wagner as well. Picked up the complete series of Akiba and ate out. Well, i say ate out, more grab random stuff from TEscos because I had a spare fiver. Oh and I will start on my return to fan fiction soon.

TL:DR, Dovah is ditching being miserable and grumpy. He is going to focus on improving his overall mood and find stuff to do. ALso, Dovah is a handsome chap. If he shaved off his beard, he would be very handsome.
