Daedra worshiper view on thalmor, ritual/mages guild eye
Daedra worshiper view on thalmor, ritual/mages guild eye
Hello.
Would a dunmer or any daedra worshiper mer mind the thalmor's goals?, I assume if the thalmor succeed in escaping mundus it would affect any mer whether they like it or not.
also do you have any speculation on what could the eye symbol of the mages guild and the ritual constellation mean and whether they might be connected?, seeing that they look very similar.

It's not really clear if the Thalmor are trying to do that or not. I think, Mark Kirkbride claimed the whole escaping Mundus thing and well, he's kinda not to be trusted nowadays.

Re: Daedra worshiper view on thalmor, ritual/mages guild eye
I get the feeling the Thalmor are the "My way or the highway..." sort of villains, and Talos was merely the first piece in a long game. They went after Talos because he was the weakest, easiest target to go for. The daedra are a tougher nut to crack, but they are on the Thalmor hit-list. They just haven't made that play yet.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I suspect it's Mark Kirkbridge/bride whatever his name is. He no longer speaks for TES in regards for lore. There's a good reason for that.
*whispers* because he is a bit crap nowadays and likes to try to add sci-fi stuff into it and changes stuff that kinda comes off as fan fiction.

By this version of the tale, Thalmor see elves as sort of fallen angels who were robbed of their divinity when the world was made. To return to the gods, the world will have to be unmade. Humans are one key component to holding the world together, so they will have to be dealt with first.SarthesArai wrote:Whoa, slow down a bit...

as a Daedra Worshipper (iG and iRL) I find the thalmor arrogance yet charming, and as long as don't try to stop Daedra Worship, I'm fine with them

When they came for the criminals, I did not speak up because I was not a criminal.
When they came for the immigrants, I did not speak up because I was not an immigrant.
When they came for the teachers, I did not speak up because I was not a teacher.
When they came for the protestors, I did not speak because I saw what they do to protestors.
When they came for me, there was no one left to speak up. But that was okay, because I went all stabby-stabby instead.

Re: Daedra worshiper view on thalmor, ritual/mages guild eye
If the Thalmor as an organization are actually trying to destabilize Mundus, this would affect everyone alive, not just Mer. If it's actually possible to reset reality itself to a pre-convention state, this would undo the Oblivion planes and all the individual personalities of the Daedric Princes, since they're Reactionaries who denied Convention in the first place. No Convention, no Daedra. At least in theory.Eye5752 wrote:Hello.

That's assuming the actual leadership of the Thalmor wants this, and the Aldmeri Commentary that's available to read wasn't propaganda from some minor cult. It's not listed as official Thalmor doctrine.

My guess is the Eye of Magnus.
He wrote lore for Skyrim. He consulted with ESO's loremasters, and several of his ideas were used there as well. He'll likely be consulted for the next game, too. If his ideas are completely rubbish, Bethesda has yet to receive the memo. They seem to keep calling on the guy year in and year out, even though he's not on their payroll. If he were as awful or irrelevant as certain malcontents in the fandom make him out to be, he'd not be called on for ideas. The SheoDovah wrote:I suspect it's Mark Kirkbridge/bride whatever his name is. Also, FYI, he didn't introduce sci fi elements into TES. He was not yet a story writer when Daggerfall was released, and the main plot to that one is about recovering a magical battery for a giant stompy robot. The weird sci fi stuff has always been in TES. It's a staple of the games it was derived from, like D&D, whose worlds often contain sci fi elements, like crashed UFOs and robots, alongside typical fantasy fare.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I thought he was not to be trusted for offical lore and is barely allowed on the wiki side of UESP? Sci-fi tends to be fairly subtle in TES and well, Dwemer kinda cover it. But i thought stuff like this was not to be trusted. I am confused now.

Todd Howard's official stance is that any out of game stories are plausible as long as they're not directly contradicted. C0DA isn't used in the wiki because it's not meant to take place in the main continuity of TES. Similar stories like the Aldudagga have an OOG tag and a disclaimer with them, but they're plausible. Like I said, he actually contributes story ideas and lore during game development, still, especially in religious and social matters for the Provinces, because he's one of the top original loremasters for that stuff, and the original author for a lot of it. Of course they're gonna consult him, since he's still around and cooperative.

Wiki policy is to treat all developer texts with a pinch of salt, and we normally only use them to clarify canonical topics. Nothing to do with MK specifically, he just happens to publish a lot of texts which we have little use for and therefore exclude. The SheoDovah wrote:I thought he was not to be trusted for offical lore and is barely allowed on the wiki side of UESP?
