Got into a wee little trouble with quest
Repairing the Phial. After picking up a Briar Heart, it doesn't update. I have the remaining components. I tried going to the designated spot for the componenet and taking it from the boss, doesn't update either...probably becasue I have the Red Eagle quest active too.
So....does anyone know how to fix this, preferably not using console?

Have you any mods active? Have you tried retrying from an old save?Sarin wrote:Repairing the Phial. After picking up a Briar Heart, it doesn't update. I have the remaining components. Mods...most of it is just the usual stuff. SkyUI, Unofficial patches...the only two other mods are Cloaks and Buffed Candlelight.
And for older save...the saves in which I don't have either of Red Eagle or Repairing the Phial quest active are damn old. So I don't really want to go there.

i presume that you have tried to turn it off and then back on again?Sarin wrote:Mods...most of it is just the usual stuff. SkyUI, Unofficial patches...the only two other mods are Cloaks and Buffed Candlelight.

Re: Got into a wee little trouble with quest
Have you tried going to a different Forsworn camp, killing the boss there and taking his heart?
If you have tried that, and your Skyrim has all the patches, then I think you may be into console territory. Sorry.

Does this sound like the issue:
UESP wrote:If you have initiated the quest to find Red Eagle's sword, the same Forsworn Briarheart might be the target of both quests. It will carry both Red Eagle's sword and a briar heart. However, even if you pick up both, it will only complete the Red Eagle quest. You will need to find a different Forsworn camp to complete the briar heart part of this quest.

It does, however I think such issue would also be fixed by picking up a loose Briar Heart I had in my alchemy stash back at Lakeview. It didn't.MetaCthulhu wrote:Does this sound like the issue:

Re: Got into a wee little trouble with quest
This could have been your issue.UESP Wiki wrote:After you have started the quest, when you pick up a briar heart, the quest may not update, and no option to turn it in will appear when talking to Quintus. This can be caused by already having a briar heart in your inventory when you start this quest.
Regarding MetaCthulhu's post, try finding another Briarheart to take from. That will likely fix the issue, and if not, I do urge you to use this console command, even though I know you said you'd prefer not to. I know a lot of people have a problem with console use, thinking of it as "cheating", but when you have an unavoidable problem like this, sometimes it's your only solution.

Taking a Briar Heart from another Briarheart didn't work. I had to use console...oh well, doesn't matter. I got it fair and square.
