Just for attributes and the spellmaker being cut out of the game, the Dragonborn deserves to be the weakest of TES PCs. Because he's a goddamn casual!

If you're going down that route, every PC on the PC versions has access to the comsole, making them equally unbeatable.

Hey, Vivec has access to the Construction Set, why not?MARS wrote:If you're going down that route, every PC on the PC versions has access to the comsole, making them equally unbeatable.

I've always utterly detested that interpretation. It's not at all what was intended. If used as a metaphor for CHIM, it's useful as a starting point, but people take it way too literally.legoless wrote:Hey, Vivec has access to the Construction Set, why not?MARS wrote:If you're going down that route, every PC on the PC versions has access to the comsole, making them equally unbeatable.
And, if we're gonna talk about attributes, it's worth pointing out that the attributes work as differently between the first four entries in the series as they do between Oblivion and Skyrim. Doesn't really have anything to do with an in-universe battle. I'm sure the centaur language and thaumaturgy still exist in TES at the time of Skyrim, for instance. Just because your dude in the video game can't use them doesn't mean nobody can or they they ceased to exist. Same with attributes. Only question is would the Thu'um be enough to beat the strongest possible versions of previous champions, especially if we assume they have Artifacts? I'm guessing no, especially in the case of the Nerevarine.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I don't subscribe to it either, but it's funny to think about.

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
What do you think of the idea that Thu'um can't harm Nerevarine because Nerevarine is immune to the effects of Time? That would remove the Dragonborn's primary offensive and defensive weapon and level the playing field, and IMO the Nerevarine has access to stronger weapons if that's the case.

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
Dunno about you, but my Nerevarine didn't take too kindly to getting hit with fireballs to the face, corprus or not. As far as I'm concerned, the source of the destruction - generic magicka vs divine projection of self - is irrelevant. The Nerevarine won't have time to argue semantics when he gets shouted off the side of a mountain by the Dovahkiin's dragon mount. Keening is also pretty trash tier during that time period for whatever reason, so in my mind it's down to raw mystical power, and let's face it: with his prophecy fulfilled, the Nerevarine hasn't too much going for him other than his strange disease and Daedric patronage.

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
Nerevarine can levitate - another thing that pesky casuals cannot do - and making others fly at crawl speeds. He also has Speed, which he can fortify to increase his movement speed. Dovahkiin cannot fortify his movement speed enough, and thus his Slow Time would slow him relatively less than it would slow Nerevarine, but due to the latter moving at extreme speeds, he would win by having a better absolute speed score.
Thus, using Slow Time versus Nerevarine is counter-productive, as a difference between, say, 90 and 100 movement speed is more noticeable than the difference between 65536 and 8192 if even the latter is enough to run through entire province in a minute or two.

Nerevar Reborn has access to several other powerful pieces of weapons, armor and magic items the LDB does not, though. Not just main quest related stuff. Eilidon's Ward, Skullcrusher, the 100% fire resist Dragonbone Cuirass from Morrowind, Lord's Mail, Chrysamere, the list goes on and on.
Also, if the Thu'um is simple magic and can be blocked by effects that block magic, and your Nerevarine has defeated all the Dagoth brothers, the artifacts they drop completely nullify all magical attacks then worn together. I used them to beat the powerful Lich enemies in the Tribunal expansion, whose attacks did literally nothing when they were all activated. If the Nerevarine's immunity to Time wouldn't stop a voice based attack, the Hearth artifacts of House Dagoth surely would.

Didn't he sell most of those?
But fine, if we're taking 100% magic resist into account then maybe the thu'um isn't great (even though those seem more like game mechanics to me).

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
Well for me, the weakest is the Dragonborn, why? Because without shouts he or she´s weaker than the Champion of Cyrodiil and the Nerevarine and he or she has not attributes. The Nerevarine killed 3 or 2 mortal gods (Almalexia and Dagoth Ur or even Vivec), fighted against the corprus, the Sixth House and Dagoth Ur´s blight creatures, became immune to the diseases, he/she cannot get older and he/she defeated Hircine a Daedric Prince while the Hero of Kvatch killed Umaril the Unfeathered an ayleid king, sorcerer and demi-god, Jyggalag the most powerful Daedric Prince, closed a lot of Oblivion Gates, fighted against Dagon´s daedric armies and killed Mankar the leader of the Mythic Dawn destroying that cult too and became Sheogorath, the Dovahkiin fighted against the dragons (a lot of them), stormcloaks/imperials, vampires and Mora´s daedric armies, killed the first dragonborn Miraak, killed the leader of the Volkihar vampires Harkon, destroyed a dragon-god named Alduin, can be capable of using the Thu´um, can be capable to mount dragons and killed the Emperor Titus Mede II but his/her fate is unknow (for know), but comparing that with Oblivion or Morrowind, there´s no such a great fate or reward for our hero ´cause he/she did not get the immortality. I mean he/she didn´t get the enough recognizement of the NPCs, he/she did not get a statue, etc. He/she doesn´t know how to fight with the fists just as good like the Nerevarine or Cyrodiil´s Champion and without his/her shouts he or she´s dead, he/she´s not so fast, not so strong, etc, well that´s my opinion, but still, he/she is very powerful too.
