Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
If all your main characters from all the Elder Scrolls games you've played would have to fight each other, who would win? How would the others fare? And why?
For me, the worst would be the Daggerfall guy, as he just manage to finish the main quest and doesn't posess any significant magic equipment. The second last was the ESO one. He is an average DD/Heal/Support Magicka DK, but "average" is not good enough in this league of heroes. The Skyrim and Morrowind chars would have a close fight for the second rank. While the Skyrim one uses a sword that absorbs health and magicka, and a healing spell to restore stamina along with some destruction magic, the one from Morrowind could, with his high speed, outrun his foes. Combined with a constant Enchantment to regenerate health and stamina, and a health absorbing scimitar, this would give him great chances. The first place, however, would go to my Oblivion Character. The ability to choose between apparel sets of 100% chameleon and 100% reflect damage with a high percentage of reflect spell makes him nearly untouchable.

Hands down my morrowind character. I mean with potions of fortify strength, HP, and other stats by thousands of points for several in game days at a time, he'd be pretty hard to kill. Next would be my skyrim character, who was fairly insanely strong with dual casting destruction spells for auto stagger. And last would be my oblivion character, he never had anything stupidly overpowered going for him.

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
There's a lot of ways to answer this question.
I'd say, lore-wise, probably maybe my Oblivion character. The biggest reason for that, as mentioned already, is them being a freakin' Daedric Prince.
Gameplay-wise, it's a toss-up. It'd be a fight over who's got the best exploits available to them. The Oblivion character has 100% chameleon and stuff, but the Skyrim character can enchant equipment with stat and damage boosts to the moon and back. However, I can say that the other characters probably wouldn't stand a chance in any case, because they have a habit of missing targets right in front of their face.

I mean, if we're talking lore, it's the Champion of Cyrdoiil, hands down. Dude is an actual Daedric Prince.

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
This discussion was had before (Lore General?), but it bears repeating.
The only correct answer for this is the Soulless One. A doom-driven hero with powers of immortality that rivals even a Daedric Prince. None of the others even compare in terms of resilience. Maybe the Champion of Cyrodiil would have equal power within the Shivering Isles, but considering the Soulless One's track record against the Daedra I'd say he could defeat old Sheo even without home advantage.

I must strongly disagree on the grounds that immortality won't win a fight for you. Also, you pretty much single-handedly defeat all the powers of Oblivion as the Champion of Cyrodiil, except for ol' plot device Martin Septim fighting Mehrunes Dagon. I'm sorry, but I don't see what you're getting at. Maybe you can expand on that thought.legoless wrote:This discussion was had before (Lore General?), but it bears repeating.

I believe it's related to the law of truly large numbers, and the monkey-typewriter theory. In a nutshell, you can kill a souless one millions of times, but he only has to kill you once. Even if his chance of killing you is 0.00001, after enough tries the odds of him managing to kill you at least once approaches 1.0.Tingz0r wrote:I must strongly disagree on the grounds that immortality won't win a fight for you. On a non-lore/semi-lore side: Definitely my Skyrim character. Even though my Morrowind character has Indoril Armour and the Royal Signet Ring, my Skyrim character. No amount of health regeneration can cope with an angry vampire lord throwing you off a cliff. (No mention of my Arena, Daggerfall, and Oblivion characters; on account that they suck

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
It's partially a monkey-typewriter situation, but the Soulless One will kick your ass in a traditional fight. What has the CoC actually done? Dagon's banishment wasn't him; the most powerful beings he defeated are Umaril and Jyggy, and only with immense divine aid.MetaCthulhu wrote:I believe it's related to the law of truly large numbers, and the monkey-typewriter theory. The Soulless One is a literal time traveller with the ability to teleport across time and space. Maybe *your* ESO character is a mediocre tank who never became Emperor and spends his days crafting junk in Davon's Watch, but from a lore perspective the Soulless One's achievements are already far greater than the CoC's and only continue to grow. Nevermind taking on Daedric Princes, the SO has already wiped the floor with the Constellations themselves, and repeatedly plumbs the world's most dangerous dungeons for a laugh. He's a hero thrice-made, an impossible Padomaic paragon who's well on his way to CHIM.
To relate it back to the OP a little, my ESO main would most certainly win against my other characters without game exploits. Facing a self-sustaining build with eternal respawns just wouldn't be a good time for any of the other heroes, whose story in the Elder Scroll ends when they die.

I was not talking about their power in lore, but rather in from a gameplay perespective. And for fairness reasons, each one has just one life

But you only may count him in if you have played dawnstar and aquired the Starfrost
(I propably should have put a "your" into the topic...)

Weeellllll I can neither confirm nor deny that statement. But from a purely gameplay point of view, you can't actually die in Dawnstar or Stormhold anyway.

I have to pop back into lore for a second: If you steal The Soulless One's money (so he can't fast travel) and chain him to a rock, would he be able to get away?

Depends if he has a Ravage Health potion on him or not.MetaCthulhu wrote:I have to pop back into lore for a second: If you steal The Soulless One's money (so he can't fast travel) and chain him to a rock, would he be able to get away?
Edit: Nevermind, I think he can teleport to Cyrodiil for free. Doubt there's any lore justification for that but whatever, not like there's any lore reason he needs a couple gold coins to cast a teleport spell anyway.

As for my own characters, it would easily be my Dovahkiin on PS3. Haven't booted him up in a while, but I platinumed the game with him and seem to remember dealing immense amounts of damage with his legendary daedric warhammer.

Ugh, hard to choose between someone who's literally a walking rocket launcher who only needs to shoot at his legs and powerful, but savegame corrupting magic items and someone whose stats are fortified to insane numbers so she can deal over 65536 damage in one hit with a rusty dagger and who has a magic top-RPM minigun tower shield, as well as means to destroy the entire world. The one that shouts can get something fortified too, but his magic is too slow and he has no strength, no agility, no endurance, no personality, no intelligence, no willpower, no luck, no speed.

The Nerevarine can eat diamonds. Just saying.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

This is actually difficult for me to say as I love all 3 of my main chars and they are all pretty powerful in their own respects. The Nerevarine can't die of disease or old age, The Champion becomes a Daedric Prince, the Dragonborn can shout people, mobs and dragons to pieces with his voice. I guess I will go with my Champion for sentimentality's sake and for the fact that a Daedric is probably more powerful than an immortal or a dragonborn.

Re: Strongest Main Char from all ES Games?
The Dovahkiin on account of the Thu'um. The heroes from the first two games wouldn't stand a chance. Hell, the Hero of Daggerfall died at the end due to a giant dwemer construct falling on them. Most heroes survive in TES. Granted, they are sent on a bus. Seriously, where is the Neveraine and what did he get up?
The Dovahkiin just shouts stuff to pieces. Killed Alduin, the first Dragonborn, an ancient vampire and countless other threats. The COC? killed an ancient god, become a prince and fetched a lot of stuff. Oh and was crap if one built him the wrong way.
The Soul-less one, to me, sounds like the TES answer to the Chosen Undead from Dark Souls. Both can't die. They possess an iron will and avoid going insane.
The Nevaraine is immortal and can just wait it out if he chose to. Could beat the hero of Arena and possibly the COC pre-Sheogorath. No chance against the Dovahkiin due to the Thu'um.

I really doubt the idea of a damned warrior fighting to regain his soul or at least some closure or comfort can be attributed to either set of games. This archetype is nearly as old as stories themselves. It's being very generous to give credit to either Bethesda or From Software for that. It's age-old.

Well, Thu'um or no Thu'um, if you have no attributes (which you can't also fortify with extreme-numbered potions), you suck.

But if we're using crazy potions than the Dragonborn can have 0 shout-cooldown, and that means he can chain-shout Slow Time, Marked for Death, and Elemental Fury. No matter what attributes the CoC fortifies, the Thu'um allows the Dragonborn to keep up.Marisa Kirisame wrote:Well, Thu'um or no Thu'um, if you have no attributes (which you can't also fortify with extreme-numbered potions), you suck.

Fortify magic and elemental resists (to 100%) and two of those shouts are useless. Add in 100% Reflect and they're also harmful for the user. Slow Time only matters if you have no Speed to fortify, like the Dragonborn.MetaCthulhu wrote:But if we're using crazy potions than the Dragonborn can have 0 shout-cooldown, and that means he can chain-shout Slow Time, Marked for Death, and Elemental Fury. What I'm saying is, Bethesda has removed attributes starting Skyrim. Attributes damn it! It's a large chunk of the role system of the game! They brought magic down to some [&@%!] long animations, little effects and no spellmaker. Just for attributes and the spellmaker being cut out of the game, the Dragonborn deserves to be the weakest of TES PCs. Because he's a goddamn casual!
