A Faith for an Elementalist ?
Hi. As a relief from my "Sithis" / Daedric worshipper, I'm thinking of ideas for an Elementalist, walking on the Lightish side.
These are my thoughts, please correct me I'm missing the mark. (Her views are allowed to be wrong, but I still want them to be believable in the culture chosen)
Through a conduit ( herself, rituals, totem object, staff, or...) majick releases the power bound in the bones of the earth, or the elements of fire water air earth.
This leads me to Y'ffre. However the worship of him seems to be focused on the laws that lifted life from the slime. Bosmer and Forsworn worship is too dark for my present taste, and besides, I want to focus on the slow cycling life found in geology and climate.
Is it appropriate to worship Y'ffre with offerings of alchemical ingredients, leaving out human hearts and Nord flesh?
Are there other gods, or role models in the Lore that would fit an Elementalist of Nature, rather than Destruction or Light?
I'm planning her to be a Reachman Breton, but that's not set in stone.

Worship the Earthbones. They're all about keeping harmony and protecting spriggans and such. Perhaps an ex-wyress who now studies the School of Destruction?

Remember that Y'ffre (or Jephre as many Bretons know him/her/it) isn't necessarily a singular individual, but can also represent the Wyrd, or the secret invisible magickal knots that tie Mundus together. Sources differ, of course, because that's how lore in TES is always presented. It's self-contradictory by design. Your Elementalist could easily be a Wyress who venerates the Earthbones.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: A Faith for an Elementalist ?
Thanks. It's led me to read about the Spinners again. Slowly.
Interesting she uses Silence.
Pilaf, thank you, that will help me a lot. Must dig into Wyrd, ES.
Thoughts on "venerating the Earthbones"......
-Partly by walking the right path, (though I don't know how a season of Reach soldiers blood tribute as part payment for a sisters death in the Mine, a mothers lifetime existence in the Warrens, the death of countless cousins in the rocky wilds, how that lines up.
But we are all man or mer,so it needn't at this stage of the story, and she is channelling the elemental powers she has unlocked, if that's the right word. For good or bad.)
So the right path so far, is anti-necromage and shunning of the Deadric
-Also worship rituals, snow berries is all that comes to mind.
-Witches seem very much about guardianship.
- I will send her to the skaal to study more shamanism at first hand.

Don't mix up the wyrd and the reachmen/forsworn, they're pretty different (although some ignorants may see them both as uncivilised shamanistic cults)

The Foresworn worship Daedra? Or include nemocracy? Though the Glamoril (?) witches do too. I do see her sometime association with the Forsworn as a black mark against her. I see other non-mer witches as more akin to Bosmer or maybe ashlanders?

Forsworn are a political movement, not a people. The Reachmen do worship the Daedra, but not exclusively.

Re: A Faith for an Elementalist ?
I understood that all forsworn clans had sold their souls aka RedEagle through the Briarhearts, through the hagraven?
I must confess here, I am not a "deep" reader, but just dance over the surface.

Re: A Faith for an Elementalist ?
Forsworn is a Fourth Era term. It's specifically talking about a movement to reclaim the Reach from the Nords.
I don't think all Reachmen clans sell their souls to hagravens. Some of them worship the hagravens, but that's more of a "respect your elders" attitude than anything. Briarhearts are actually the fruit of a tree, imbued with the souls of sacrificed victims using evil nature magic. Probably related to souls, but not those of the living - Briarheart trees are grown atop corpses.

The Forsworn are a political movement of the Fourth Era. Specifically, they were created by ultra-nationalists in the Reach in reaction to "The Markarth Incident", wherein Ulfric Stormcloak and his followers drove the Reachmen out of Markarth and supposedly committed multiple war crimes.
The actual ethnic group/race/nationality would be called Reachmen, but it's a varied group of people. Imagine Native Americans as a comparison. Lots of different tribes with their own beliefs and customs. The Reachmen have been around for a very long time. Probably since the late Merethic Era, in some form.
Since there are so many tribes, there's a lot of different beliefs. Shamanism and witchcraft are common, of course. Hagravens are powerful in several tribes. Some worship Hircine, but not all. Namira is also very popular. They also venerate other Daedra and primitive versions of the Divines. The Briarheart ceremony seems to depict Lorkhan, or some aspect of Lorkhan. It's complicated.
