I didn't start it. She did by telling me to shut up. Roger thought, upon hearing Rin's excuses.

Mausier's hand on his shoulder made him jump slightly, though it did not make him fearful.
He stared at the man's blood red eyes in fascination, waiting for him to say something. However, no words came, and Roger was rather disappointed.
The only reprimand given by the child's guardian was a stern look - one of warning. Roger held Mausier's gaze until he removed his hand from the gentleman's shoulder and moved away.

He turned and watched as the silent man and Rin engaged in a playful game, and the child's apology was met with a pleasant smile.

"Well, I thank you for your apology, young lady. I too, must apologize for my comment." Even though it was true. "It's been a very trying morning, and after late trains, robbers, and that frightful issue with the crash, I may have vented my emotions in a rather overzealous manner."

He smiled politely at Rin and Mausier and gave them a nod of greeting.
"My name is Roger Spenceworth. You may have heard of me by way of my splendid timepieces." He introduced himself to all but the absent Cornelia.

Rin & Mausier

She tilted her head to one side, acting coy and cheeky, with a large smile to boast. She spoke in a rather light hearted, playful manner "R-o-g-e-r. S-p-e-n-c-e-w-o-r-t-h?" No matter how cute she said it, she was still being a runt "Nev'r heard of ya." She kept this facade of a smile, a clear aim to bruise a fellow's ego

She was not however completely without manners. Mausier shifted his stance, placing everyone in clear view. In a rather formal poise, Rin crossed her heart and made some manner of a noble bow, an impressive feat when hanging by the end of her collar "I am Rin Eli, the one and only" She followed this courtly display next by gesturing to her guardian, who hardly ever blinked "And this here is my loyal Mausier. Keith's thee name!" She gave a short giggle, clearly working up some charm

Before she could say anything more, she seemed to have been interrupted by something. "Oh! My friend here want'd to know somethin." Again she tried to act in some fashion, acting tough like some detective would "Wh'ts dis this talk of theives 'n bombs?" She really didn't process the repeat in due time, as if coming to some revelation "Wha??! You don' think this has somethin' to do with tha' mask'd fellow!!" She couldn't have said it any faster, though unbeknownst she was one a different page than everybody else, even her companion

"Alistair Wolfram." offered the Pyrate with an absent minded wave. "You can call me Wolf, Alistair, Mr. Wolfram... just don't call me 'Al'. Now, if you'll pardon me, I'm going to take myself and my controversial way of life out of the room to go figure out where we are."

With that he departed to follow Cornelia out of the room. Best to stick with the familiar in this case, and the boisterous little girl was a bit too loud for his tastes considering his pounding headache.

"No, I don't suppose you would have." Roger replied to Rin, "However, a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Eli." He looked up at Mausier, "Keith." He said with a nod of greeting and a sly grin.

When Alistair gave his name, Roger made a mental note of it, though it was sure to be some made up alias.

"Thieves and bombs?" He repeated to Rin, slightly perplexed by the fact that the only other person who seemed to have an interest in events was a small child.

"Yes, the two people that have left - though I doubt it is due to being riddled with guilt - were robbing our train. They wielded guns, swords and an incendiary device on their person, and they said that they had 'rigged' the train with explosives too. Yes, the masked man and woman are most definitely to blame for this. Perhaps not for that purple flash - that was likely someone else, but the explosion I suspect them of indeed."

Although he knew that the planted explosives were non-existent, he wanted to add more reason for the criminals to be scorned and punished. Roger also thought that when Rin spoke of the 'masked man', that she was speaking of Alistair.

Monad climbed out of bed and stood up. "Monad." said Monad, giving only his first name to introduce himself. Alistair may or may not have heard him. He walked over to the baseball and looked at it without picking it up. He leaned against the table and looked over at the other patients, Roger having just mentioned the possible cause of the explosion.

"I heard something on the roof but I'm pretty sure the light and the explosion are connected. If this was all the result of a train robbery gone wrong, we wouldn't be here, we'd be in a regular hospital room." said Monad, trying to make sense of the situation. "For all we know there could have been dozens of explosions, half the city could be in ruins right now." He turned his head in the direction of the door, he was ready to go with the others to see this 'Uncle.'

Considering his 'minute' to be up, Holman hauled himself out of bed, wincing but ultimately able to overcome the fading pain. "I certainly hope that's not the case," he said in reply to Monad, "But you're right: something strange is up. This was planned, and I'll bet those two thieves had nothing to do with it." He made for the door to go upstairs as well, not wanting to be out-investigated by a pair of criminals.

Victoria Vario

"Victoria Vario." The mage told everyone as she stretched and let out a soft groan as she felt some bruising alert her of their mere existence. "I happened to catch a glimpse at the explosion and it was of a magical origin." She told the group as she walked towards the door. "I do not feel that it is part of anyone's escape plan to destroy the train they are on if they were robbing it and as Alistair said, the city could be in ruins. The mere fact that we are alive with only minor injuries is just dumb luck. The people behind the cause wanted to make a statement and leaving no survivors would make for a scary message." She hoped this wasn't an Inquisition building otherwise, she was rather screwed. "But come, let's find out who rescued us from what i can only assume to be the burning train and find out their motivations." With that, she departed for the office.

Rin & Mausier

Rin tossed her head about, looking at everybody as one by one, they were leaving. "Hey, hey? Why all ta uproar? Wher' ya lot goin'?" She fumbled a bit, andmanaged to release herself from the hanging grip. Landing upon her feet, she quickly dusted off her clothes before giving everybody a word or two "We aint piec'd together no picture yet, wha't ya? Especially thos' two!"

She was not content. Like an investigator in one of those novels, the case needed to be solved. Rin quickly scampered off behind Mausier, climbing up his back like some weasel. Plotting her seat right behind his neck, she guided her steed with a steady arm forward "We can't let 'em lot get away! I've yet ta giv' eithr a piece of my mind for wha't they did! Bringin bombs on a train! An' that mask'd fellow! Wha't giv's?"

She paused for a moment, a fire letf to burn. Mausier however seemed to have better grasp than she, even if he knew less of the aftermax. Gladly, he chose to persue answers

The Strange Room and Beyond

The survivors departed the room one by one and at different times, but they all eventually met up with each other. Following the twin's directions, they walked through stone, undecorated hallways and ascended a stone staircase. As they approached the stairs, they saw a stained glass window emblazoned with several stars. However, they were not able to see through it.

They all arrived at a simple wooden and iron door that was placed in an alcove before the top of the stairs. To their left and right were two other hallways, but their destination was within the room and to reach it, they proceeded inwards.

The Office

As they entered the office, the three occupants of the room stopped talking. Standing in front of the desk were the twins, Antoine and Amelia, who smiled at them as they entered, as well as nine chairs. Upon these chairs were plates with mugs of coffee and some bread and honey, except for one chair where the cofee had been substituted for milk. Behind the mahogany desk was a man with a calm but hard face. He wore a crimson and white coat with a golden medallion of the sun around his neck and several golden stars pinned to his breast. Behind this man was a red tapestry with a cross in the approximate shape of a sword over a brilliant sun: the symbol of the Inquisition.

"You may go." he spoke in a deep and commanding voice to the twins, "Return to your studies."

"Yes, Uncle Godric." They quietly exited the room, leaving their uncle alone with the strangers.

High-Inquisitor Godric Godwinson gestured for them to sit down and slid a piece of paper, a quill, and an inkpot across the table to them, saying, "Write your names upon that, if you please. It is to my understanding that you were all present aboard the 7:00 train this morning, so I'll be needing an account of the incident. Orally."

Throughout all this, he continued reading from another piece of paper, not taking his eyes off of it even to speak to them.

"Oh, [&@%!]." Alistair mumbled plainly. He knew the High-Inquisitor by name, as did most of the others without a doubt, and immediately became uncomfortable upon the revelation of their benefactor's identity. Granted, the Inquisition was the anti-magic branch of the law, but that didn't mean that Alistair traipsing about as a pirate was bound to be on the High-Inquisitor's list of favorite things.

That being said, Godric (and his odd niblings) did rescue the motley crew of survivors from the wreckage, and they were being kept around. That spelled momentary safety for Alistair, and for the moment, that was enough. Still, he saw no reason to reveal his name nor his criminal alias and occupation; not yet at least. No doubt the foppish buffoon from earlier will take care of that bit of information...

In the end, Alistair elected to stand by and wait for one of the others to make the first move and either speak of the events or write their names down.

Rin & Mausier

The whole way there, Rin never let go of what she'll do to the mask'd man once Mausier can gets his hands on him. Much to Wolfram's displeasure or confusion to hear her say "Oh h'w I can torment thee. Let us count te ways? Shall we?" She certainly can be a devil when she wants to be

Much to either's surprise, was whom this 'uncle' was as the door opened "Oy? Wh'ts with tha' old chap by ta desk? An'..." She really didn't get to finish her comment, Mausier made sure of that. He snapped his fingers, hushing his friend, alerting her to just how serious this must be. While she was clueless after they entered the door way, Mausier grew even more stiff and alert, as to be expected. His look said it all for Rin, this was both a high ranking individual and one of enormous threat to her wellbeing.

Rin crawled down off his shouders, instead taking refuge by his leg and coat, holding him dearly. She seemed more fazed by Mausier's aura, than by the High-Inquisitor, and like a child, this scared her. However, Rin's security aside, Mausier seemed oddly accustomed to these encounters.

Electing himself to act first, Mausier walked over to the desk, with Rin close behind. From his strde to even his eventual stance, his military past was evident. As requested, he wrote down both names, Rin could only help by peaking her head over the desk to watch, unable to actually reach the pen herself

Once finished, he stepped aside, and took his seat nearest to the desk, with Rin taking liberty of the next. "Ooooo, a tea part'y? And th'y said dis just child's play. Good on ya!" Much from the expected, Rin gleefully held the cup of coffee not the milk, going so far as to even add the honey to it. Mausier however idly held his cup, permitting Rin to take whatever else she wished. She seemed pretty content 'nomming' down on that bread

Morgan's eyes widened in surprise. He truly was in the belly of the beast. Slowly he forced himself to calm, trying to, and succeeding for the most part, to maintain this façade. His gaze focused on the inkpot and quill. "Well first thing you should know is that it was late beyond the realms of rudeness." He muttered simply as he took a seat. "What did you do with our belongings?" He had documents in his bag, he had to bring those in today of all things. He took a cup of coffee, a slight tremble in his holding one that was swiftly suppressed. Calm calm.. He thought to himself. Looking into it as he swirled it gently.

Roger felt a churn in his stomach at the sight of the sign of the Inquisition - and an even bigger one, at the presence of the High Inquisitor himself.
Despite his alarm, he did not let it show on his face, instead maintaining an exterior display of calm interest.

"Certainly, your eminence. I'd be happy to assist with your inquiries." Roger replied with compliance, adding his name to the list, as instructed.

"May I take a seat?" He asked, although the presence of food and drink clearly implied that he could.

The Office

The High-Inquisitor did not acknowledge Alistair's audible expletive, and neither did he answer Morgan's question. His eyes remained locked firmly on the paper, but he nodded to Roger when asked if he could sit down.

He raised a fist to his mouth and coughed, patiently waiting for the rest to add their signatures. He seemed quite prepared to wait there all day; he certainly had enough papers strewn across his desk to keep him occupied for some time.

With permission received, Roger sat down on one of the chairs, placing his hat on the table.

He hasn't looked up from those papers. It appears the Inquisition's manners are just as appalling as their beliefs.

Picking up the cup of coffee, he gazed at it with a mild suspicion, then decided to hold off on the drinking of it for now - despite his desire for a nice hot beverage.

Victoria Vario in the worst place on earth.

Victoria almost uttered a phrase often associated with oh crap upon finding out that this was an Inquisition building. She often avoided them when she could out of respect and a preference of being free instead of locked up for being a mage. "The origin of the blast that derailed our train or so I assume that it derailed our train was of a magical origin. It was purple if that is a helpful element for identifying the spell used or the device used." She informed the High Inquisitor. She sat down on one of the spare seats and helped herself to a cuppa. "As others have stated, the train was running late and I would hazard to assume that it was part of their plan to make their strong message to the city." She grabbed a slice of bread and applied honey to it. "Attacking a train with magic, or for the time being, I will assume it is magic, is a certain way to spread a message to the city."

After Roger made his move without accusing Alistair and Cornelia of anything (Not yet, anyway...), Alistair made his way over to sign the paper.

He debated on how to sign it for a moment. To use his given name, or his chosen name? "Orpheus" was certainly out of the question. Perhaps it would aid his anonymity if he used his old name...

As he pondered these thoughts quietly, he found himself already signing the paper as 'Alistair Wolfram' despite himself. Once he was done, he sat down at an empty chair a few spaces away from either Roger or Victoria, and began sipping on his coffee.

Monad could feel the anger bubble inside himself as he entered the room and saw High Inquisitor Godwinson. This man lead The Inquisition, they were the ones who hunted down mages and stomped out worship of The Trickster, forcing his followers to venerate their teacher in secret. It was them from whom he'd hidden since childhood and they were the ones who dragged his mother away to one of their towers. There were few, possibly no people, Monad held in great contempt than Godric Godwinson, the man was the antithesis of Monad's values and The Trickster's teachings.

But Monad kept his resentment to himself, a career in retail had given him experience in putting on a polite outward appearance to people who irritated him. He approached the paper and picked up the quill. He thought it over in his mind, if he should use his birth name or an alias but decided to write down his birth name, 'Monad Flynn.' He didn't want to be caught lying about his name, it would likely just make things worse. And Monad was careful, other than his mother, nobody knew he was a mage so there was little reason to suspect him. If it comes to it I can still change my form and flee the city. Could always move to Atoll. Once he was done he put down the quill and sat in one of the chairs.

Monad was sitting in the chair next to Rin, he actually hadn't started drinking the coffee yet. "Just nervous. Had a, um, friend who had a bad experience with the Inquisition you see." said Monad in a quiet tone so people wouldn't overhear him. He didn't want to be locked up for something he didn't do. Or something he did do. He gestured his head in the direction of Rin's silent guardian. "How long have you been together, Mausier and you?" Monad asked, both out of curiosity and in an attempt to turn the topic of conversation away from his own suspicious behavior.

It took a moment for the identity of the man to register with Holman, but once it did, his heart skipped a beat. The High Inquisitor himself! The man who had the supreme power to end Holman's life as a free man if he found out about his tiny little secret. Okay, cool it, there's nothing to worry about, he told himself. The only thing he had to hide was an ability that he had control over, so all he had to do was just not use that ability. He was still in control of the situation.

He walked over and signed his name, then took a seat. He took a sip from the mug and a bite of his bread after settling into the chair; he felt confident that as long as the Inquisition did not outright suspect them of being mages, there was nothing to fear from accepting their hospitality.

Rin & Mausier

"Inquisitors? Where?!" She said, tossing her head from side to side. The only thing that broke her from this act was the 2nd comment. "Oh? Me n' Maus'y? Mmmm.." She paused to think about it, placing a finger near her cheek. Mausier likewise seemed to have paid little notice, still sitting still with the cup of coffee in hand. From his stirn posture, he certainly looks like he's having a great time. "I don' kno? It seems like fore'er"

Cornelia felt a rush of emotion coming over her as she looked upon the High-Inquisitor. She had the same conflict as Alistair did, when it came to signing her name, but seeing that he had signed his true name, Cornelia did the same.

She did, however, attempt some subterfuge with her choice of seating. Avoiding Victoria, as she didn't want to be associated with knowledge of magic, and also avoiding Orpheus, not wanting so clear a link between them to be established, she sat herself down right beside Roger. Cornelia gently sipped on her coffee, and waited patiently.

The High-Inquisitor glanced up from his papers for the first time, locking his blue eyes on Victoria's matching set. Those eyes told a story that a thousand words could only dream of matching.

Victoria Vario expects the Inquisitor's questions.

"I am not but I have never heard of a purple explosive device during my travels and I am working off the assumption it was caused by magic. It would be easier for the fiends behind it to hide their evidence whilst making a strong statement and play on the fear of magic whilst creating a convient scapegoat for the public to attack." Victoria told the Inquisitor whilst maintaining her locked eyes with his. She knew a thing or two about lying about her status as a mage and was rather allergic to being locked up. It was highly unlikely anyone else in the group of survivors were aware of her being a mage thus she knew she could get away with bending the truth slightly unless a situation called for magic.
