Well really this is a DLC issue, but mostly SI.
I bought Oblivion back when it first came out and have played it for years, modded it up how I like it. However, I never got any of the DLC until much later, when I bought the GOTY edition on Steam.
I haven't really touched the Steam version, since my original install is using Wyre Bash, OBSE and everything. But I'd like to be able to use the DLC I bought in Steam with the original install, and Bethesda doesn't seem to want to sell digital copies anymore, it just links to Steam.
I thought about copying the DLC files from my Steam version to the original folder but are there other files I'm going to need or are those esp files self-contained?

Re: Shivering Isles issue
Shivering Isles isn't an .esm or .esp. Instead, I believe it's integrated into the vanilla game by the original installer CD. You're gonna have a very tough time manually migrating the necessary files, so your old install will probably have to be scrapped unless you wanna buy the disk.
If re-installs are an issue for you, I strongly recommend you get the Digital Deluxe edition on Steam if you haven't already, rather than proceeding with the regular SI+KotN GotY combo. It's the only way to legally obtain the Fighter's Stronghold DLC nowadays. Worth it if you can catch it in a sale.

Re: Shivering Isles issue
I wouldn't bother with this. I tried to use the DLC from steam and my original disc copy together and it just didn't work. It was full of tears and a lot of work, but I just reinstalled all my mods and stuff into the steam folder and restarted all my characters.
