Nordic relations with 'traditional' Dwarves (not Dwemer)

Post by Starfang »

How do you think the Nords of Skyrim would get along with traditional/standard RPG Dwarves such as Tolkien's Dwarves or the Dwarves of Orzammar from Dragon Age? Personally I think they would get along well with the latter, with those Dwarves more or less being smaller versions of Nords; big beards, frothy mugs of grog, big battleaxes, heavy armor, Ancestor worship, distrust of magic, and an appreciation for smithing. It should also be mentioned that Dwarves tend to have 'hair-trigger' tempers, something that most Nords can relate to

Well I don't know. Hard to imagine them together. I'll ask x-over god to give me a vision in my sleep.

The Nords and Orcs of TES sort of share the traditional DnD/Tolkienesque Dwarven traits, so they'd get along well enough with either. More with the Nords, I suspect. If you suddenly transplanted Gimli or someone into Tamriel he'd probably draw his axe on the first Orsimer he saw, but mistake a Nord for a man of Rohan.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

But he's less fat and hairy than most Dwarven women.

Gimli would recognize the elder by his partial baldness and slimness. Being old is little good for your health.
