I don't understand how you can ask that question, when it pertains to a fantasy game set in a fantasy universe. I suppose Lord of the Rings and World of Warcraft ought to be historically accurate as well, right?
If I assume you're asking for a comparison to real history, your answer should be a very obvious "No. Not at all. Never."
How historically accurate is Skyrim?

Fantasy game or not, inspired from history at least.

Every game ever programmed, every book ever written, every painting and piece of art is based/inspired by human history, human culture and human experiences...because we're humans. Otherwise they would have been made by aliens and we wouldn't been able to comprehend them. You're questions is pure philosophy... also known as quibbling with words
It's like asking which one came first, the egg or the chicken. or when tree fells in woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Accuracy is just matter of perception.

Re: How historically accurate is Skyrim?
There is an inner meaning of the question:
Skyrim is a fantasy game made of mixing the real world with a magical world. Now, the question is that how much history inspired objects are there in Skyrim. 'Historically Accurate' is a term used to dub a game or book close to the real world. In this post, those people that are satisfied with Skyrim would answer 'no' and those who are not would say 'yes'.
So far we have learned that almost all people have said that Skyrim is a goodly made game.
I guess that although most people are older than me, they don't have show much wisdom in these fields and get confused in these posts.

Realistic, not real.ProphetDragon wrote: Skyrim is a fantasy game made of mixing the real world with a magical world.

Re: How historically accurate is Skyrim?
The historicity (or historical accuracy, as it's called) of a claim is its factual correctness. The factual correctness of Skyrim rates at about 0.1 on a scale of 10 (Dragons, magic, elves, etc,.). Even if we choose (and I do say choose mind you) to compare the Nords to vikings, there is only superficial resemblance: The styles of armour are different, the weapons are incorrect dimensions, the materials used are different (if not outright fanciful), the religion is different. I could go on for ages, but the main point is Bethesda based Nords (and even this may be conjecture) on "the viking" as seen on TV and in the arts, not on actual vikings.ProphetDragon wrote:There is an inner meaning of the question:

To paraphrase a man much brighter than I: If Skyrim was a house, why would we tear up the floorboards to see where the wood came from?

I think the opinions given thus far are pretty unanimous, and have effectively answered the topic question. Therefore locking this thread.
