Glitches in Theives Guild & Mage Guild

Well, I recently just rememberd I had Oblivion for my 360 so....I got addicted again ^.^ But I had this thing happen to me awhile ago, all of a sudden for no reason I got two messages from the theives guild (I was on the first or second quest) and one from the mages guild saying I stole from a member. It also said that if it happened again I would be booted from the mages guild. Now, the only problem with this is that I can't get any mages guild appprentices to foolow me anymore, despite the fact that I broght him the 40 flowers. Can anyone help with this?

Oh, and another one, almost forgot . When I was working on the third (I think) theives guild quest, where you have to wait for armand (or w/e his name is) to return the next midnight, he didn't come back. it's been over 3 weeks in game time and he hasn't show up. Can anyone help?

The first question:

If you steal from a fellow member, I think you have to go to the imperial city and talk to the highest of the wizzard's in arcane university. There you pay the "fines". Try to do that.

The last question:

Are you sure that you have complete the mission? One of the missions you are supose to help armand so he can show up again, because the bounty on him is so high.

Well, I got the mage thing to work. But for the theives guild quest, I have finished the quest (it directs me to the garden where armand usually is after I put the statue in the cabinet) but he is not there. Any ideas/help?

A glitch methinks. I get this message from time to time, even when I slay random bandits. As far as I'm aware there are no people in Oblivion who are in more than one Guild, much less recognised as that, so the possibility of stealing/killing a Thief-and-Mage is unlikely. I think it's just a glitch. You're best reverting to a previous save rather than going through the rigmarole of restoring your place (especially as it's such a pain).

Have you checked his shack? You're not limited to meeting him at midnight to complete missions, you can do it anywhere. It's strange that he hasn't turned up though.

This is the only quest I can see that may cause conflicting interests betwrrn the Thieves and Mages Guilds.

Have wondered myself how exactly this scenario would play out?

From my own experience, and from dozens of threads I've read, the Thieves Guild questline is extremely buggy, particularly regarding Independent Thievery and waiting for various characters to show up. I'm stuck at the 500/600 gold mark - I don't get the message I'm supposed to get at 600 fenced about the Gray Fox coming, and even selling 700, 800 doesn't fix it. I know I need to go back to an earlier save, but I need to know where.
