I just started the DB questline and whilst I've been able to complete the other 2 targets, for some reason I can't kill Beitild without the Dawnstar guards going hostile.
I make sure I'm sneaked and hidden. I kill Beitild with one bolt, and the miners around her don't see me. Then as I walk up to her body nearby guards start attacking.
What am I doing wrong? I used the same technique for the other 2 targets.

Not sure why that's happening, but you could always try waiting til she goes back to her house at midnight, and kill her in her sleep, and see if the guards are still hostile.

Could you simply refrain from blowing your cover and not walk up to [&@%!] on the corpse?PandaPo wrote:... Then as I walk up to her body nearby guards start attacking.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I did that with Narfi and Whasisname, no hostile reaction from the people around. Admittedly no guards there though.
Besides if no one saw me do the deed, why would they go hostile? Walking up to a corpse does not necessarily mean I'm the killer.

Just checking: they don't go hostile if you approach them BEFORE you shoot her?

Iirc, chickens actually report murder (never tested it myself)! Maybe there were domestic animals nearby?

Could be, I didn't check for snitch poultry. I did as Dark Spark said and walked away from the body immediately after doing the hit. I made my way out of Dawnstar without any issues.
