Imperial Constitution
After seeing heavy success in my Imperial Soldier Types post and getting a lot of types of soldiers, I have decided to ask you people to create a set of rules for the Empire. Please don't write something stupid in it.

Re: Imperial Constitution
Maybe you should ask here where this will lead to...Vilhelm Valhalla wrote:Would any laws prohibiting magic be permissible (provided if the Mage's Guild still exists)?
Or you could ask this guy about his success regarding outlawing death, results will be the same. Magic is a too common occurency in tamriel to be effectively regulated.

Re: Imperial Constitution
I just hope it doesn't start with "We, the people of Tamriel...."

Re: Imperial Constitution
The constitution of the Empire would have very little magic-related acts and such details (slavery etc.) because for different provinces it should be different regulation norms. That's what keeps the old style Empire from falling apart. Instead, since it's constitution, it should grant some basic rights and stuff which applies to the entire Empire.
I'm the feared Marisa Kirisame, known as Marisa Kurwa, bane of the hldm .cz, where my mere name is a curse, user of the exploits and a stalking crossbowwoman, hidden in the shadows, striking from the back.

Re: Imperial Constitution
Let us mix-up the Constitutions of England, America and India and select the best laws. Maybe India will do it all.

Re: Imperial Constitution
The Empire in the 4th era regulates magic use by promoting its own Imperial guilds, the Synod and College of Whispers, which they can control more effectively than they did the Mages Guild, which originated in Summerset and was only ever a chartered guild and not an actual government institution.
As for the topic in general, I'm against the idea of an Imperial constitution. It doesn't really fit well with established lore. The Empire is big on common sense laws like don't steal from your neighbors or start fights, and obeying the Commands of the Divines. If you can manage that, and pay your Imperial taxes, that's about it. As for personal freedoms/rights, the Empire is fairly egalitarian and meritocratic, but this varies from Kingdom to Kingdom, Province to Province, based on the local leadership and cultural norms.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

There should be in all cases an imperial senate.
