Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
There was an episode of Space:Above and Beyond where aliens did use Morse Code. And they were bad at it: the navy officers who got the message said whoever sent it was very rusty or an amateur at Morse, so it couldn't have been a human sending it.
Incidentally, the episode happened at Christmas.
By the way: a trained Morse operator can 'feel' how a message is sent. The signal is transmitted by an analog key, after all: hammering down on the key or squeezing it between your fingers produces a noticeable difference to the tone that's transmitted.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

I continued to try my hand at modding Fallout 3 today. To recap, here's xkcd:Just replace "Python" with "Mod Organiser". In fact, I was so high on power I decided to mod Battlefront II as well (not with organiser though, just some executable files). Kinda glad I switched to this whole PC thing.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
This happened on the 22nd, so my birthday, but I figured I might as well post it here. My dog Patches got out and I ended up having to chase her down. Luckily she didn't get very far, but it was one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me. I love that dog and I would have been crushed if anything happened to her.
As for today, my uncle leaves for Florida in a bit, so I won't see him again until next November/December. It always sucks when he has to leave.

Not today (we only halfway through after all), but yesterday got some revision done, and did some code on a couple of games that I'm working on. Other than that, quite a chilled and relaxed day.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I went downhill skiing for the first time in 10 years (and I've only done it twice before.) A lot more difficult than I remember, but I only fell once, the first time down the hill. Came away with a really nasty bruise from the tow rope, though. It was also VERY COLD, at -5F (-21C) with a windchill of -20F (-29C); a definite change from our very mild winter so far. I had a lot of fun, though.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So erm...... i realised i am currently depressed today. Didn't realise i was until my mother spoke to me out of concern about it and now, i know about it, i can try to slowly get out of it. One bit at a time. It is a relief, in a way as it means i'm not a lazy person. Just someone that is depressed and explains why i spent 80% of my days sleeping. I intend to set myself small little things to aim every day and try to keep my mind occupied. Hopefully, the upcoming work placement i'll be doing will give me a major boost

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
That sounds like a good plan. It's really easy to get in the rut of being fed up and feeling like stuff in your life is out of your control.
If the body feels like it's got nothing much to get up for, then might as well not get up - like you say, it looks like laziness, when really it's your mind feeling like it's got no motivation or reason to do anything.
That's great that you've got a work placement coming up! Is it something in admin?
Hope you feel better and not so forlorn. You definitely sound more positive, now that you're not beating yourself up for sleeping the days away, so I'm sure old jolly Dovah will soon make a comeback!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Yes. Because i worked for the county council, it's going to be in a back office for benefits and not many people are allowed to do a work placement there for various reasons. I've proven that i'm trustworthy, reliable, suitable etc..
I am glad that it is not laziness and now, that i know it's depression, i can hit back. Along with stopping being so hard on myself and focusing on the positive aspects of my life.
Setting myself a few aims every day instead of telling myself to do it as a part of my plan to break out of the depression and if i fail to get my aim done, oh well. Unlike a goal, where i could go "[&@%!]" afterwards. Treating myself to a big bottle of Dr Pepper tomorrow and hopefully, the insane, silly, smexy, ego filled, Aarah eating, Mars bashing, Alarra Annoying, UESP GOD will make a full return.
If this offends anyone, go Sheo yourself. Wait, I'm Sheo. So, am i telling you to me yourself or you to me you? :O

Been feeling down for a few days already, it took a turn for worse today at work (part time, I work weekends). Had to call in sick for tomorrow, now I'm sitting here with 38 degree fever, in a nest of pillows and whatever to keep warm and listening to music. Feel like watching something, just don't know what...

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
We had a freaking earthquake last night...7.1...that caused power outages and blew up a home down south on the point. It was...terrifying. I've lived up here all of my life and am used to getting the occasional shakes but this one was the strongest that I've felt. Our house was a mess from items that fell on the floor, luckily nothing important broke though. We tried going back to bed about an hour later and were laying in bed when a smaller one started to shake. Ugh...we've been having a lot of small shakes lately...hopefully this isn't a repeat of '64.

Finally starting some testing to see what the [&@%!] is wrong with me. Before, I only had my therapist. Afterwards...... I'll still only have my therapist.... but I'll know what metal illnesses I have. Which is a start.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today, i purchased for the first time in my life, fresh fish! Ok, it's wrapped in a plastic package but it seems to be fresh from the supermarket's fish counter. I found out more about me upcoming 2 week workplacement and will be glad to have a [&@%!] routine again and having work. Granted, it is a work placement with 0% possibility of a job but it will go up to the whole 6 month barrier, go "Oh, you think you're stopping the Dovah?" then kick it in it's nuts before slam dunking that git into the very depths of hell.
Also intending on reading a book for an hour(ish) every night before i sleep to try to help me sleep better. So far, it seems to have a 90% success rate and last night, i went to sleep before 2am!
Looks like i'm slowly climbing my way out of the depression pit and back into the terrority of "ARGH! DOVAH!" aka, Silly Dovah incorperated. There may be ritual sacrifices involved.

Hopefully, it boost my chances of getting a job.
Today, my town was hit by Far Right and Far Left protests. It turned nasty and it seems that most of the town's police had to break out the riot gear. Apparently, some of the scum used some local school grounds to elude the police and it got bad enough that the police had to tell the train operators to cancel all. I [&@%!] hate it when they use the town to protest. It is usually racist thugs looking to fight. Basically, [&@%!] protests! [&@%!] THEM ALL! Just because we're literally opposite france and 2 hours away does not give them the right to be collossal dicks.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I hope the work placement works out for you TSD. Personally (not just today but in general for the last while, hope that's alright) I've been looking for work since last August and yeah, hasn't been going well. Doesn't help that I'm living in a town that while not small by Irish standards by virtue of being Ireland's biggest town (I think there's about about 35,000 in the town and surrounding areas) isn't massive when you compare it to countries which are larger than Ireland. Things are crappy anyway but being in that whole "need job to get experience, need experience to get job" catch 22 doesn't help. So getting a full time job is all but impossible because all full time jobs want experience, so I've been looking at internships which are also pretty competitive. (Of course the whole JobsBridge internment scheme just comes across as the government skewing unemployment figures. A company gets a free full time employee and the government gives said employee €50 extra in their dole money, then the government can say that individual is no longer unemployed. )
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?
