Demiprince, that's a thing
So thats a thing now, huh? I know we have talked and discussed similar things, even in regards to a vestige, but now their is an official demiprince >_>
My thoughts on the manner mirror questions others have asked. What exactly qualifies? Must they be done by unity with a mortal, or can other daedra qualify? What exactly does this mean with Daedra and their capabilities to breed? And new properties does a demiprince or half breed daedra present? Likewise must they be a natural born being or a corruption of a pre existing one?
Likewise, begs the question who else may qualify as a demiprince. Aside from being a direct offspring or a realm to call their own, just how 'mortal' must they be and why havent we heard much about them till now. I also wouldnt be too surprise for daedric princes to adopt lesser entities as their own, which originally I thought was to compensate for their lack of breeding
Also to discuss, what motives some of the possible suspects play at, and their overall significance to their.. parent. And if at all they can act against their will or bound by some nature(i.e fear of punishment).
The actual presence of demiprinces an offspring truly add new insight, more so than some mere vestige grnted privileges or a being 'born' from change/corruption

Re: Demiprince, that's a thing
I think the main thing is that an entity must have domain over a small sphere to become a demiprince. The 'breeding' or whatever isn't all that relevant, especially now that Morihaus has had his demiprince status revoked. It's definitely a reworked concept for ESO, whereas before it was some obscure MK thing, which is why we heard so little about them. I guess it allows for a lot more pocket realms, since they ran out of actual Princes with the Shivering Isles expansion and it seems like ESO wants to reserve the Princes for future storylines rather than involving their realms in throw-away quests like Dragonstar Arena.

Read this. He's now a "demigod", not a demiprince.

Re: Demiprince, that's a thing
I still love at the very end him saying "Trust me, Im a Daedra" XD But ya, after reading that it only raises another question on the topic.. what qualifies for a demigod or is the title itself misleading due to mortal whims? I mean cant accended mortals/entities be dubbed demigods, or would it be exclusive to spawn of the Aedra
Personally I find the title of Demi to be misleading by standards.. Aside from those sired by a Daedra n granted dominion hence the 'prince' part, the rest seem far less defined.. I mean at best shouldnt Mori be called a demi-aedra or demi-et'ada(demi-ada for short)? What of the other children of the et'ada? Alduin or the spawn of Aedra? What of lesser Aedra or the earthbones themselves? What constitutes for demi(god) and doesnt? I doubt there will be clear answers <_< but I do hope they explore a bit more into this 'demi tier' within the mythos, maybe with shrouded hints or a new book in the next instalment or storyline

Re: Demiprince, that's a thing
Aedra as a term is rarely ever used. They're called the Gods, so their progeny would quite sensibly be called demigods.

Re: Demiprince, that's a thing
Aedra is an old Aldmeris term meaning "Our Ancestors" or "Greatest Stars". Hence, it refers to a very narrow pantheon of Elven deities, including Trinimac, Auriel and their kin. It can't rightly be applied to Imperial or Nordic gods.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I saw the term "Aedra" as being applied to the spirits that took part in creating Mundus.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:Aedra is an old Aldmeris term meaning "Our Ancestors" or "Greatest Stars". "Aedra" and "Daedra" are not relative terms. They are Elvish and exact. Azura is a Daedra both in Skyrim and Morrowind. "Aedra" is usually translated as "ancestor," which is as close as Cyrodilic can come to this Elven concept. "Daedra" means, roughly, "not our ancestors." This distinction was crucial to the Dunmer, whose fundamental split in ideology is represented in their mythical genealogy.

So Leckan is right, too
And additionally, Auriel and Akatosh (and some say also Alduin) are just aspects of the same, aedric, being. And even these et-ada (original spirits) that are not directly worshipped by the altmer may still be aedra-ancestors to the world. "ancestors" is just a rough translation and not an exact term, as there is no such a thing in cyrodilic. Also ancestor-like beings not worthy of reverence by the altmer could be refered to by this title.

Re: Demiprince, that's a thing
It should be noted that while, yes, Daedra are Daedra everything, the word itself is not exact. In Altmeris, Daedra is "not our ancestors." However, the same word in Dunmeris means "our stronger, better ancestors."

Re: Demiprince, that's a thing
Whilst I feel it could be viable, Daedra are known liars and it could easily be any of the princes deciding to pose as a one just because it amuses them. Sheogorath would do it for any number of reasons. Sanguine uses it as an excuse to get more mortals drunk etc...
But it is an interesting concept and Bethesda never did say that there were no more then the existing ones. There is room for more to be revealed and they have a lot of wiggle room. It is a shame Zenimax either wasn't able to use existing princes for a single quest or felt it wasn't worth thus the reworking of a demiprince concept, it seems interesting. The Last Dragonborn could easily become a Demiprince due to the sheer power he/she possesses. Vile implies that they have more then enough power thus not wanting to grant them the wish of more power. It could be viable that Akatosh decided to give the provebal middle finger to all the princes by turning the Dragonborn into a Demi-Aedra Prince and given a small sphere to control or put in charge of Sovngarde.
But if they have retconned it, it is interesting to see why they did and if they had any further plans or not.
