It's simple, we clone an army of junkies for the sheer purpose of acting and hope that no-one secretly inputs an order to turn them against us for their own goals thus wiping us out and giving rise to one of the most evil villians the world has ever seen.

Then we order the order of other actors to be purged and establish an empire that is somehow overthrown via small teddy bears that somehow destroy giant walking robots with logs and arrows.

Memento is being remade. Without Christopher Nolan.
Off the top of my head, I can only think of two good remakes, so I don't have high hopes.

Re: General Discussion
I think it's techincally a remake but has literally nothing to do with the original film.
Remakes often suck nowadays and i just can't wait for the day where remakes become either very rare or not used. 80s films seem to be a prime target for remakes and they tend to suck. Nightmare on Elm Street, the remake sucked. Total Recall, i've heard it's so so and it looks very generic due to the Mars setting being changed to generic earth and well, without the cheesy Ahrnold factor, it is nothing new. Robocop took the utter mick and we ended up with Batcop. Seriously, it's Robocop. Just a robot that is slow to move but puts the oh crap into criminals once they realise that this cop is immune to their bullets. That and it looks crap. Better then Robocop 3 though. I suspect Star Wars will be rema.... oh, right, Lucas tried to do that several times by editing the films.
I need to punch a wall now.

I once had the pleasure of try to talk to a customer about The Thing (1982). He didn't know directors, so John Carpenter meant nothing to him, and I just reverted to calling it The Thing. After about 10 minutes of him looking at me like I'm crazy I gave up.

Re: General Discussion
Just wait until they remake The Sixth Sense, and everyone bends over backwards waiting to see the twist upon the twist because we already know whas going to happen because its a remake. Then we see it and the movie delivers the same exact twist as the original and everyone walks out saying "There should have been some sort of twist to the old twist, but the twist was the old twist all along. I wasn't expecting that. That must have been the twist!"
Then we finish off the last sip of our Brawndo and leave the theater.

And then, the iconic slasher is reduced to [&@%!] puns, no suspense and basically I HATE THE REMAKE OF ELM STREET! I mean, by god, it is beyond [&@%!]. Freddy is a joke and comes off as too hard to be freddy. The original was cheesy but he clearly enjoyed being the killer and was very creative. He also took his time. New freddy? Nah, screw subtly, let's make him come off as a person trying too hard and just crap. Oh and let's put it on double speed so that we can........
See this is how to do it. Not the slow paced original scene that was creepy(at the time) and gave way to the Freddy Kruger we all know. Screw that guy, our Freddy, he is so much better!

Re: General Discussion
I don't think a remake (in 2016 anyway) would do much to improve on the design of the game and any new content would probably be rather minimal. I don't think it would be a worse game, but I don't think it would look significantly better and I'm sure there are already a lot of mods which improve Skyrim aesthetically that PC people could use. And also mods which improve poor design decision like the User Interface on PC. I really hated how crafting was handled in Skyrim, something a remake could fix. I don't care if I can use smithing to make amazing armour, I don't want to spend hours grinding out millions of daggers and then face level scaled enemies that I'm not strong enough to fight because I leveled smithing instead of One-Handed and Heavy Armour. Personally I wouldn't write off the possibility of Bethesda releasing something like the Dishonored Definitive Edition, so basically a re-release as opposed to a full on remake.
There are video game remakes which I think are better than the original game and there are mods which make games better. Like I feel I would have enjoyed Thief 3 a lot less if I hadn't installed a mod to improve things like the FOV. The Resident Evil Remake is so much better than the original Resident Evil and I also like Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green more than Red and Blue.
Oblivion is 10 years old in 3 months.

Weirder still if it's on the south side of the house.

Re: General Discussion
I think it's weirder that the kitchen in my apartment has a carpeted floor (it's kind of a hard carpet, not fluffy, but still).
Did the person who installed it never cook or bake anything in their life? Spills and dropped crumbs are inevitable. I'm always afraid that I'll drop something that I won't be able to clean out. (The worst so far was when I stumbled and upended a pizza, getting a large circle of sauce and cheese into the carpet; fortunately I was able to shampoo that out.)

I have so many questions that they all just lock up because I can't get them all out at once. But here's one: was this a rich person?Argonanza wrote:I just visited someone who had their kitchen on the second floor. Weird. At least, I think it's weird?
The only positive I can see from this is that you don't have to step on cold tile when it's freezing out.Alarra wrote:I think it's weirder that the kitchen in my apartment has a carpeted floor (it's kind of a hard carpet, not fluffy, but still).
I know I keep bringing it up but I never get used to these winters. It's been in the 70-80s for so long now that the season is betting a bit out of whack, mosquitoes and bugs are back. I think it's affecting the plants as well.

Nah not rich, he's just a guy my dad knows. I think he built a lot of the house interior himself.

Is it a house where the ground floor is basically a basement/garage and the upstairs is the main house?Argonanza wrote:Nah not rich, he's just a guy my dad knows. I think he built a lot of the house interior himself.
Or you could use vinyl/lino Flooring. It isn't as cold as tile, it isn't as strange as having carpet in your kitchen and you probably don't have to worry about cracking your skull on it if you fall.leroybrown wrote:The only positive I can see from this is that you don't have to step on cold tile when it's freezing out.

1. You just described the house of my childhood.
2. I keep telling people this! We have tile on our kitchen floor right now, and it keeps peeling up and shanking my feet.

Re: General Discussion
So game plan has been adjusted and it should be less than 3 months till I get a project car (conservative estimate). This sucks because it's 3 months away and I want it now. Also I'm going to have to adjust my spending habits and by that I mean basically be a shut in, go out as rare as possible and not buy anything so that I can get the car faster.
There's also other issues like maintaining my daily driver. I can fix lots myself but the only way to fix balding tires is by spending hundreds. Thanks a lot OBAMA! i'm joking calm down

Just 24.5 hours left until 2016 for us Brits!
And we will be determined to hate it. We hated 2015, we hated 2014. We hated every year that wasn't brewed in the UK. What? We are proud of our own years and are a petty people. That and we hate monday for existing. We will not rest until Monday is destroyed.

The second movie is actually a prequel to the 1982 one. Both are great, imo. Scary asf.Knight Captain Kerr wrote: Is The Thing (1982) a remake or is it just a different adaptation of the same source material?
Regarding Memento...now, why would they go and ruin a good thing? It's perfect the way that it is.
