Competition Of The Month- October Halloween Edition!

[Dohva.]

Hi, my fellow UESP users! Apologies from the moderating staff about the lateness of our contest, but it should be a fun one so we hope you enjoy it.

Welcome one and all to the Competition of the Month

These monthly competitions are a chance for you to demonstrate your creativity and talents while getting a chance to know your fellow members and have a little fun. Each month is going to have a different theme and a different talent – and maybe a surprise or two! But only one member can wear the purple coins and fancy title of CotM Winner! Remember that the winner and second place participant(s) will receive UESPoints. Do you have what it takes?

The basic rules are as follows:

Spoiler:

» Members can contribute pieces based on the talent (writing, art, screenshots, etc.) and theme during the submission period, after which no further entries will be accepted. Then we will vote via a poll to see who gets to wear that month’s winner’s badge!

» If you are posting artwork, please post a link from an off-forum website such as Photobucket; if you are posting a written piece, please hide it under a spoiler when creating a new post. This is to ensure that posts are not too long and the thread appears orderly for everyone. If you are unsure how to do either of these, don’t be afraid to ask!

» Be respectful and polite about your fellow members’ work. Anyone who says anything rude about another’s work will be hearing from a member of the Mod Squad and may not be allowed to participate in the next competition. There is no such thing as “good” or “bad,” and everyone has a unique way of demonstrating his or her talents. Enjoy the variety!

» All members are welcome to join, including moderators. Don’t forget that we’re members, too!

CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN Write a creepy, TES themed poem that has 1-2 stanzas with four lines. A stanza is four lines together. Your poem can rhyme or not; this is your choice. For example:

She lathers her ebony blade
With the honeyed scent of a Deathbell glaze
Her demon horse to Riften she takes
And leaves a corpse in Autumn's haze

*That'd be one stanza. Only one poem per entry is allowed, otherwise it shall be removed. If you'd like to share more than one poem, please save them for the end of the competition and place them here in this thread for everyone to enjoy.

Our schedule for the [MONTH] October event is as follows:
[DATE RANGE]: October 7 - 28: Competition begins! Start planning and send in those submissions!
[DATE RANGE]: October 29-31: Voting period – vote for your favorites!
[DATE]: November 1: Our winner is announced!
Please note that all times are determined by me, Dohva, and therefore will run according to AST -Alaska Standard Time. (Click here if you’re unsure when, exactly, that is!)

Remember that the CotM is not possible without you, so please participate, contribute, discuss, and vote!

As an aside, if anyone would like to join the street team to help plan and set up the CotM, please send me a PM Until then, have fun and good luck!

(This fun event is hosted by yours truly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them within this thread or by sending me a PM by selecting the appropriate button below my signature. Have some suggestions on what you'd like to see? Head over to the ideas thread and join in on the discussion!)

Spoiler:

Upon seeing the grave her face became white,
run you brave girl for it's worse than a draugr wight.
She ran from dusk until dawn,
stars winked as she pranced like a fawn.

Hours past her lungs stung from the chill of winter,
hold fast you're beyond the land of hinter.
For at last epiphany deprived her lungs of wind,
helm firmly placed this battle she would win.

[Dohva.]

Nice work, all_freed! Now we just need other folks to join in here. Come on...you know those UESPoints are enticing.

[Dirty Spaceman]

Be warned: this poem is not for the faint of heart. Read if you dare.

Hidden:

To take care of these guys is easy
If one kills you, you must be a newbie
But they give me a fright, every day and each night,
Oh those skeletons are just #2spooky

[Aarah]

Downward Spiral -A depressing ES poem.

Hidden:

With good intentions, I took her life,
Curiousity led me to their depths,
Faces in the crowd, I took their lives,
What demon have I become?

From rotten corpse, she calls to me,
More souls do I collect,
Where does it stop, the blackest deaths,
Has blood become my vice?

[Elderbrand]

Years ago I met a man in the woods who changed my life.

Spoiler:

The hour of the moon is upon me,
I must let the beast inside free,
A horror to the people of my city,
I can feel the change beginning...

A bloody sun rose this morn,
With the city all in mourn,
Tattered clothes drape my body,
This night again I have killed somebody.

Ballad of the Heartbroken Hunt. Officially edited for entry.

Hidden:

I saw him standing, on yonder hill,
As claw met bone, undying thrill,
He watched in horror, his blood did spill,
The taste of flesh, of Hircine's will.

Bloodsoaked sheets, what have I done?
Tasted flesh of my own son,
Silver bullet, load the gun,
Drown the pain, now it's done.

Goodbye...

Edit: I seriously missed the "1-2 stanzas", but it should be acceptable now:)

Omens

Hidden:

Night wind blowing,
Chill mist flowing,
Distant howling
Silence breaks.

Dark eyes glowing,
Fear-bestowing.
Bloodmoon rises,
Evil wakes.

Edit, After further reading I once again feel quite foolish, but what are you gonna do? Missed the announcement lol.

[Aarah]

Congrats, Wolfborn! Great poem! I liked em' all, especially Scitzo_Doom's.

I didn't notice the four cities, all_freed. Very cool!

[Scitzo_Doom]

Why thank you lol, yours was quite nice as well.

Grats Wolfborn!

Also, now that the ballot is in:

Ballad of the Heartbroken Hunt (Unedited)

I saw him standing, on yonder hill,
As claw met bone, undying thrill,
He watched in horror, his blood did spill,
The taste of flesh, of Hircine's will.

Lunar madness, a crimson rain,
Primal pleasure, inflicting pain,
Sanguine nectar, hands are stained,
I could not help but kill again...

Bloodsoaked sheets, what have I done?
Lost control, such mindless fun,
This time I've nowhere to run,
Tasted flesh of my own son...

Trapped within my mind's embrace,
I know this pain I can't erase,
Lost my boy, but loved the taste,
A silver blade my saving grace...

Goodbye...

[Wolfborn]

Woot! I'm tickled pink purple!

Thanks to all for the votes and the kind words. I loved everyone's entries--they're all quite different, unique and enjoyable. And it's nice to see the full Ballad up again, Scitzo.

[Scitzo_Doom]

Why thank you! Congrats again, and excellent choice in color:) Purple is superior.
