Rigurt decided to grab freshly uncovered paper along with others lying on the floor. He put all of those between his book's pages and started reading them.

Rigurt: The piece of paper under the rug read:

Do not feed the dog!

The scattered papers that Rigurt picked up from the floor showed odd pictures of pirates walking the plank.

Kirito looked at the couch, sizing it up to see if he moved it it would bridge the gap in the floor to the chest.
Hidden:
I guess I didn't make it clear enough last time? He was looking to see if anything was big enough to create a bridge to the chest. I guess I was expecting an answer of "the couch looked long enough to bridge the gap" or "nothing looked like it was big enough to span the gap". Sorry if what I wrote was confusing.

No, you were fine -I got what you meant, I just didn't want to give too much away about what items would be big enough to bridge the gap, in case you hadn't thought of using it.
Kirito: The couch looked like it was probably long enough to bridge the gap.

Ah. Gotcha. ;)
Kirito went over to the couch and tried to lift one edge, testing the weight. He didn't know if he would be able to slide it across the gap on his own, or if he would need help.

Kirito: The couch was light enough for Kirito to heave it across the floor by himself. Once at the gap, the couch's length did indeed reach across to the other side. It's width, however, was a bit too large for the amount of floor available by the chest. The back leg sat firmly on the ground, but the front leg was mostly over the gap.

Though precariously placed, the couch looked like it would probably support someone's weight if they crawled across.

"Hey!" Kirito called out. "Can one of you come over and hold the couch while I crawl across?" he asked the other two in the room.

"No, my friend." said Rigurt as he sat at the corner of the couch, firmly placing enormous counterweight of his body - "You are no snake, gods gave you two legs to walk.
Just keep to the right edge, that's one reinforced couch"

Fluffy walked over to the couch and held it. "Stop ye excuses before we... hang on, if both of ye are going across, how will I get across? I don't do jumping across big gaps as I prefer not to brown my pants if I miss the landing." He said to the other two.

Fluffy and Rigurt did a good job of stabilising the couch, and Kirito was able to walk across safely. He disturbed the seat cushions on his way across, revealing a few coins and a packet of chewing gum.

The chest in the corner was unlocked and Kirito found it contained a key and a length of rope, as well as another red hint stone.

Kirito took the contents of the chest and made his way back across the couch, picking up the items under the couch cushions on the way.

Kirito made it back safely. Looking around, it seemed like the adventurers had nothing more to find in this room. The only exit, other than the way they came in, was the door at the back of the room that they had noticed when they came in.

Kirito put the couch in his pocket, as it could prove useful later. :P
"Guess we should continue," Kirito said, feeling like he was the only one taking the mission seriously. "Those villagers are counting on us."

He went to the exit door and attempted to open it.

Yep, I felt the 'of feasible size' was necessary for the wackier members of the group. :P

SUCCESS!

The key unlocked the door and the three adventurers were able to exit the room.

You are now one step closer to finding the crystal and delivering it to the woman, allowing her to rid her village of the evil spirit.

Kirito has earned 1 brain point for figuring out a way to safely cross the gap to the chest.

Beyond the exit door, Rigurt, Fluffy and Kirito walked down another passage and soon found themselves with another decision to make.

They could go LEFT or RIGHT.

Kirito took a coin out of his pocket and looked at his companions. "Flip a coin to decide?" he asked. "Heads go left, Tails go right?"

Rigurt carefully took the snowglobe and tossed it to get his own answer.

"It landed on my left hand, so it is meant that the left side is the right side."

He then slid it back to his pocket, and finished reading about Cats and their uses while waiting for the others to decide.

Kirito shrugged and figured that was the closest thing to a real answer he was going to get. "I guess we go left, then," he said, casting the deciding vote.

He walked into the left-hand corridor.

Following Rigurt's unique decision making method, the group chose the left path. The passageway was long and empty, until it turned to the right. Up ahead, they could see what appeared to be a dead end, but there was a large box sitting on the ground by the wall.

Kirito was tired of taking all the initiative, so he waited for one of the idiots to notice the box.
