esc button on PC

The esc button in oblivion pulls up the pause menu. For me on my vista laptop it used to work well when i first started on my laptop but now when i press it nothing will happen, i have to hold it for many minutes and i might get the pause menu up. It doesnt seem to work well or oblivion recognize it anymore.

Do you have any background programs that have the ESC key assigned for some function? I've found that, occasionally, I'll be running one program, but that certain keystroke combos will "jump" out and activate something in a different program. It's not often, but that's the only thing I can think of.

do you mean if i have other windows open? i sometimes have a couple folders open but thats all usually. Im not sure, Is that what you are talking about? I think somewhere I downloaded a mod or something but im not sure.

Sort of. An example of what I mean is when my friend is playing games on his comp, he is usually also using programs to download music, just running "underneath" the game he is playing. I don't know why any mods would affect the ESC key, but it's possible. As I said, I'm really not sure what to tell you other than what I already have.

nah the most i have open are a few files that have something to do with obblivion like a readme for a new mod i download or something... thanks for trying
