Re: The Molag Bal Game XVIII
The conversation had gone too fast for Bal Evey to follow coherently, although he definitely heard the voice of Molag Bal, and enough of the bickering to know what his fellow townspeople were deciding upon.
The fact that Breloth accused him of being a killer almost instantly finally sunk in, but by the time his old slow mind had processed a response, Breloth had changed his mind, two or three more times.
Bal took a deep breath, both to calm his fear in the face of what happened, and to lower his anger at Breloth.
"The Daedra said followers, yes?" He noted, in his usual louder-than-appropriate way.
"So that means there's more than one person who... who did this.." Bal pointed in the direction of the mutilated mayor as he spoke.
He turned back to the others, and continued speaking, "So far I am suspicious of both Breloth and Vercel. They have shown what could pass as some kind of teamwork in trying to kill others.. But it's not enough yet for me to believe either one of them is a killer... Even if one of them was quick to accuse me."
He frowned darkly at Breloth, before continuing, "I need to think about this some more.. You folks are all so hasty."

Rainbow Faux wiped off his mouth with a silky handkerchief. Eyes darting between those present, well who.. Who could it be? "This is the most.. Unnatural of affairs, not something one could easily forge no.." He murmured, pale skin with a sheen of sweat across it. "..logic.. Will help yes. Find the few that surely must be responsible for this heinous offence.." He breathed out. His mind set, who ever it would be? "Suspicions, many of thos."

Nicolae awoke to much commotion outside. He wasn't used to being awoken so early, much less so rudely. "Commoners," he thought, "guess they don't have anything better to do."
Nicolae joined the crowd surrounding the dead body. He had never seen one before and wasn't sure about the proper etiquette on reacting to one. He kept his quiet as the locals squabbled among themselves making mental notes of who he should avoid.

Re: The Molag Bal Game XVIII
Ahchor had been out for his daily run when he the commotion had started. He stood among the group, not particularly fazed by the killing, and it showed in his demeanor. "If we are to vote, I vote for Vercel. Not that it particularly matters, but the guilty often make the most excuses." He spoke in a peculiar accent, one that could only be the result of a lifetime of different vocal influences.

Vercel looked around at the group of villagers, many of them faces he'd come to know and love. "Maybe guilty men do make excuses, but innocent men make just as many. I'm an honest man, and I've given nearly 30 years of my life to this town. If I was the murderer you think I am," he paused with a sigh, "why would I wait so long to do it?"

Re: The Molag Bal Game XVIII
Breloth cleared his throat. "For whatever it is worth, I don't believe Vercel did it. --And I would mirror his own defense, for those who suspect me; I have lived here longer than most, if not all of you. This is Valenwood, and though we are of different races, I have not been hostile to any of you. ...But these next few days will, tragically, strip all of us of any innocence. We will have to make sacrifices. But it is my hope that those honest and righteous among us may persevere." Breloth picked up the smoked fish he had dropped. He lifted a finger as he began stepping away, indicating he would be back in a minute. Breloth left to go to his house.
He returned with two things; an elven dagger, thoroughly dusty from disuse, but still sharp: and a shovel.
"It is a cruel thing we must do, but best not to do it in cruel fashion--stomping a man to death, no. We can use this, to make it clean and quick." Breloth placed the dagger on the ground between everyone, mostly to show that he wasn't going to immediately thrust it into anyone. He leaned on the shovel. "And whomever must go, we can at least dispose of them with some dignity. Even if whomever we kill was indeed a cultist...we are men, not savages. Despite what we must do, we can still be better than they who would see us done in as our poor mayor."

"Now, we are indeed being far too hasty concerning this. I for one do not believe Vercel to be a killer, I would hesitate to believe that any of you are the killers. However, we heard the demon, we must vote. Therefore I cast mine for Breloth to be the first. You were the first to throw wild accusations, I could here your voice from my own home. And now here you stand, dagger in hand, looking like some murderer or grave defiler..." said Emzaah, breathing deeply after his short speech.

Re: The Molag Bal Game XVIII
"Dagger in hand?" Breloth pointed at the dagger sitting on the ground, totally up for grabs, if and when a lynching victim was decided. "Oh, but you prefer we beat our choice to death, like a group of savages? Or perhaps a hanging? No. The dagger is a merciful end." He looked at the shovel in his hands. "Grave defiler? This is for burial--our mayor, and whomever is chosen. I have already said all of this."
"Those are some foolish accusations *you* are throwing around, Emzaah. And you have been awfully quiet until now...perhaps waiting for the opportune moment, to throw someone under the wagon. How suspect." Breloth let the shovel fall to the ground and crossed his arms.
"This is the last time I'll speak on this, as well--we must be hasty. It seems our mayor was killed during the night, yes? Perhaps the culprits among us will strike again, during the night--or perhaps sooner, if we give them the chance by being...less hasty. If we try to investigate, a cultist of any intelligence probably isn't going to have their Molag Bal fan club badge sitting out in the open. And even if we were to find out the identity of every single cultist, were we to confront them all, they would move against us as one, and the casualties would be...there might not be any of us left." Breloth shook his head. "For those still 'waiting', or waiting to see proof, or for those still too afraid to act--you condemn us all with inaction. I have been the loudest, and the quickest, because I want us to survive. In the jungles of Valenwood, if you aren't moving, you're dead. You're either the predator...or you're the prey. And I don't mean us to be prey to these Molag Bal fanatics."

"Today, I would cast my vote for Mr. Hackett," said Ytrid. "He was the second to cast out a baseless accusation, and for now I'm giving Breloth the benefit of the doubt that he was frightened into his earlier one."

"I can only hope that you are right about him, for his sake and all of ours," said Ytrid. "Otherwise you're condemning an innocent man who so far hasn't even gotten a chance to defend himself. Kill him if you really believe that his eccentricities make him capable of serving Molag Bal, but my vote stays with Ention."

"What!?" Ention exclaimed as Ytrid accused him. "So we're just throwing accusations around based on what order we speak in? Pray, if we all survive this, that Ytrid never serves the law! This is ludicrous, we have two perfectly valid suspects as it is! Why stand and argue when we know what must be done?"

Re: The Molag Bal Game XVIII
"It's so nice to know that i'm going to be killed by idiots that don't even give me a chance to speak up." Fin Laitus told the hertics of normals. How boring they were, with their mudane needs and their silent Aedric Gods apart from that one who controlled all of time and somehow was both dead and alive. "I may be a Sheogorath fan but i do not do violent things towards you normals! I am Fin Laitus, the damn merchant that supplies this town with your crap and this is how i am thanked? No thanks, if this Molag Ballsack seeks to kill me, i say he can [&@%!] bring it with his followers and the CRIMINAL SCUM that seeks to DESTROY our quiet little town." He told the normal group as he scratched his very arse with a stave of fire. God help the village if he farted but fortunately, he did not. For now.
"If i may and i believe i have the right to SHOVE YOUR HEADS up your arses if you do not allow me to voice my defense, i believe that we are about to be killed off one by one. I believe that some of the SCUM will use it to kill those who they hated or are after my stash of Skooma. I mean, stash of Beer Beer that i refuse to sell because it's my precious of a beer." He said as he looked at the dead mayor. "And the worst part is, the damn mayor is LOLLYGAGGING LIKE THE CRIMINAL SCUM THAT MY PA USED TO LOCK UP FOR DOING SO IN THE ARSE END OF SKYRIM! so let's decide who will be sacrificed to Mister Ballsack and let's [&@%!] his enjoyment of our torment by dancing as our guts are pulled out. I personally hope that if i am killed, my shop will somehow explode and take them with them." He said to the group. He knew his fate was sealed for it was no secret he was a Sheogorath worshipper. That and when you try to murder a tree for lollygagging, it is generally hard for one to not suspect something is up. "And i shall vote for, well, i shall say Molag sack of [&@%!] Bal!"

Drag Ond mused for a second. "It seems that being mad does not mean being ignorant of what is wrong. I shall actually change my vote as well, my current vote is for Breloth. He's a bit loud and a bit forceful as towards who's a murderer." He stated.

"I change my argument: Fin's simply too off his rocker to be a Molag Bal worshipper," said Ytrid. She did not feel the need to address the understandably upset Ention. "But if you guys would rather be rid of him than make actual progress towards rooting out the killers, then go on, have at him. You won't have my support, though."

Rainbow Faux rubbed his chin and well frowned. That was pure crazy dribbling from the mouth of a manchild it seemed. "Such as it is, even stupidity could be obfuscating. Even so such I shall vote for the one who even if they aren't a blighted cultist will be detrimental to our advancements in sniffing out the true causes of this." Then he breathed in and out. "I vote for the devoted of Sheogorath, Fin Laitus"

Bal had stood quietly, listening, or trying to.. But he was a bit confused as to why Fin rather suddenly lost his temper.
He stood frowning as he peered around the group one last time before adding his own opinion.
"I don't know why Fin is so upset, it's not like anybody has accused him of anything." He stated, oblivious to the fact that it was exactly why.
"I have to say that after some quiet contemplation, my vote is for Breloth aswell. I'm unsure as to whether he has the guile, or intelligence to be a worshipper, but his obvious need to kill somebody has convinced me that even if he isn't, he is still a danger to the town."
