Seeing as the old thread is defunct, Imp is dead, and the RP forums are rising from the grave, we could probably use this again.

This topic's purpose is to better help users find current, active role plays that they may take part in. What sets this apart from other topics are a few specific rules:

1. This is not a topic for the discussion of future RP ideas. That takes place in this topic.
2. This is not a topic for general RP discussion. That belongs in this topic.
3. This is strictly for categorizing the statuses of RPs and nothing else, unless it pertains to this topic.

If you are looking to join an RP, always ask the person running the RP if you can join before you begin creating a character. Most, but not all, RPs will still continue to accept members even after they have started. Active RPs that will still accept new players are listed under "Open". Active RPs that will not accept any more new members are listed under "Closed".

If you run an RP and wish to have to have it posted here, fill out the following template and post it in this thread.

Main Idea: The year is 2127 and transhumanity has spread across and colonized the solar system. All sorts technologies exist, chief among them being the digitization and copying of consciousness or Egos and creation of Artificial General Intelligences (AGI.) It has been 14 years since "The Collapse" of 2113 when a United States military Seed AI known as ISAAC achieved superintelligence during a global conflict, the ensuing chaos claimed the lives of over 90% of transhumanity and resulted in the loss of Earth and collapse of existing power structures. However transhumanity survived and in the aftermath new groups have been establishing themselves as the dominant powers of the solar system. Feeling are mixed, there are fears of conflict between transhuman factions or of a resurgence in ISAAC activity and the possibility of another collapse or even the extinction of transhumanity itself. However there is also hope, and a belief that a better future is possible.

Main Idea: t's been almost 10 years to the day that the Taquesdas snatched power from, ask some, the rightful and legitimate center-left government of Maria Perez, others, the jaws of anarchy. It's been almost 10 years since martial law was imposed in the Brazilian state and one of the most intense, rapacious and brutal periods of modern Brazillian history began. Liberalizing reforms were introduced from the top-down; FDI has since flooded the country, incomes rose, life expectancy fell. The novos ricos now sport experimental cyberware, an ascendant middle-class discovered English-language newspapers, coffee with cream and syrup, and home gyms; over ten million still live in the Favelas, a sprawling megalopolis in itself.

Main Idea (Optional): Set in an alternative Earth, which was struck by an apocalyptic event in 1977, the RP follows the struggle of a resistance group fighting against the oppressive dictatorship of the enigmatic Duke. In the backdrop of this struggle, the impoverished inhabitants of Hunger City (the nickname for New York) eke out a meagre, almost-animalistic existence in the remnants of the former financial capital of the world, scavenging in ruined skyscrapers for food and resources, while their overlords wine and dine in the most opulent finery.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but what would be the best rp to join? It will be my first time doing a rp, and I don't want to slow people down or anything. Is there one that better/worse for beginners?

The two RPs that would be the easiest to get into are Tamrielic Adventures 2 (run by Unionhack and myself), and Cog & Gear: Flashpoint (run by myself). TA2 is an Elder Scrolls roleplay split into two halves: Union's and my own. You have complete freedom here, so it's very easy to jump into. C&G is a steampunk roleplay centered around the conflict between a group of terrorist mages and the Inquisition, an organization dedicated to hunting down magic.

TheShadowOne's Kirin's Thunder might still be open, but I don't keep up with it. POMC's Future Legend hasn't started yet, so you could definitely try that. Dirty Spaceman's RP, A Crown of Crimson, is pretty open at the moment. Finally, there's Knight-Captain Kerr's Fallout: Great White North, which might be a little odd to just jump into, but I believe he's still accepting latecomers.
