@Rook: Well there will be a few household guards with you, but no one's going to be in charge of enough soldier NPCs at a time for that to truly be useful, as much as it's a great idea. I mean there will likely not be a huge battle to strategize for, unless we totally depart from canon. (I do realize that if someone does something monumental or stupid enough, we may have to go officially off-canon - but hopefully we can prevent that from happening, and I don't anticipate there being many opportunities to do something like that anyway.)

And yeah, Endurance or Strength are the best choices for Shield. I feel like it might fit best in Strength.

@Baloth: S-W-E-E-T. That is looking very nice.

I didn't mean it necessarily on such a large scale, I was a little unclear. It could function as a sort of attribute booster for allies (possibly including PCs?). Though honestly, Hissien's idea would probably function better in the confines of the RP.

@Baloth: Skill-wise, our characters are going to be rather alike. At least we can entertain each other on the sidelines, right?

@EpicDirtyAbradSpaceman; Shield skill? If you're going to include such a thing, I'd recommend maybe calling it defense. Because it seems like a penalty to someone who might have planned on using a shield, to have to have one skill entirely devoted to it. So I'd recommend either canning it, broadening it to Defense, and/or giving a HUGE boost to the efficacy of shields. Also thanks for the compliment. :D I'm liking my house/character, myself.

@Rook, heh, neat. Maybe our characters can bro out together or something.

Shield skill? No, bad idea. Any one handed weapon user who wants to not die will be probably using a shield at some point. Shields are great. It's unfair to characters who use both, like most sane people would, whereas someone using a greataxe only has to take one skill.

You'd be better off having a sword and shield skill (also includes fighting with axes, clubs, maces, etc) and a heavy weapon skill (greataxes, greatsword, etc.)

You could include traits as a way to further differentiate characters. Have a trait be that you are better at using a sword without a shield than with a shield for characters who want to play that kind of character. A trait that you are better at using blunt weapons than bladed weapons. It seems like a better thing to do than include a separate shield skill.

Merging politics into a generalized Academia along with history, geography etc is a good idea.

Oh, what's a good age for the second son? 15? Older?

Or not even necessarily a sword/shield skill. If someone wants to dual wield, should that create a third separate skill? Or if they want to just wield a single handed weapon and nothing else. Fourth skill? Nah. I'd just say the two weapon categories and then the lancing under horsemanship works fine.

Traits should be implemented to help differentiate, yes, and they can help with those weapon combos. Like, ah, the following. Sword and Board: Better at defending with your shield, but if it's broken or otherwise out of your hands, your defense is even worse than someone used to fighting without a shield, because you've grown reliant on shield use. Two Hands, Two Weapons: Attack faster while dual wielding, but your recklessness means you are disarmed more easily. Or something? The skills alone will mean not a lot of differentiating between combat focused characters.

Social/political ones too, maybe? Like, uh, Viper's Tongue: Your viciousness in the courts means you are more adept at intimidating or slandering a political adversary, but you also have a reputation for such behavior, and some may look less favourably upon you for it, or refuse to deal with you at all. (Sort of like a Lady Olenna Tyrell, or a Littlefinger.) And/or conversely, Honey Tongue: Your gentleness makes you better suited for fair and even handed diplomacy, but your reputation as being gentle is perceived as weakness by some. Certain political rivals may not take you seriously, or may refuse to deal with you at all. (Kinda like a Lady Margaery Tyrell.) Etc.

Ok so edits made: No Shield skill added, Politics changed to "Fine Education: Knowledge and understanding of history, geography, political structure and the intricacies of the realm." Right now I have the "Bladed/Light Weapon" skill renamed as "Finesse Weapons," which is not as accurate as I'd like but kind of covers it, while "Blunt/Heavy Weapons" is now "Force Weapons." No I did not add lightsabers to the list, yuk yuk yuk. I also added in a house sheet for the Rosemonts in the exact style of Baloth's for House Wendbridge, and I put in Shadow as having claimed a daughter (well that didn't sound weird at first, at least).

And yeah 15-19 is a good range for a second son, just in general and also based on my extremely loose and average estimate from the fact that Ser/Lord Arthur fought on Redgrass Field.

I am busy a lot over the next few days, but I will post the edited version of the OP here soon (once I'm sure I've got the first round of changes done). I'm done editing for now but I think traits are a good idea to implement, so we'll see about putting them in there. Once it is definitely finito, we can work on deciding the DMing situation. :)

Some facets will probably undergo some changes of varying significance as other people join the family or as the OP changes. I figured I'd get it out here just for reference and/or initial review.
Hidden:
Name: Robin Rosemont

Age: 16 (Subject to Change)

Sex: Male

Allegiance: Third and youngest son of House Rosemont, loyal to House Targaryen

Physical Appearance:
Spoiler:
Image

Robin takes after his mother's side of the family, bearing the red hair of a noble of House Connbridge. He is of an average height, though his figure is almost too lean for comfort. His eyes are thin and of a rather dull hazel, and a multitude of lightly-shaded freckles dot the lower half of his mousy face. The thin traces of the beginning of a beard are present, though not impressive.

Starting Apparel: A simple dark green doublet with Rosemont heraldry stitched above the heart, accompanied by brown pants, matching boots, and a sword belt.

Equipment: ARMOR: A brigandine mixed with padded armor and an iron helm.

WEAPONS: A light iron spear intended to be wielded from horseback, accompanied by a shield composed of wood and backed with leather. A dirk is strapped to his belt, though he finds little use for it.

Biography: (Subject to Change) The third son of Lord Richard Rosemont, Robin was a sickly babe. His infirmity was heralded by his frequent bouts of silence compared to other babes, and his small size and weight. He carried this frailty for a few years after birth, and many of the denizens of Redgrass had low hopes for his survival to adulthood. He eventually overcame his illness, though he carried its effects even as he grew older. He soon took up a passion for reading and music, forgoing serious combat training, though he secretly envies those who find joy in their skill at bloodletting. Being of such a young age, Robin has accomplished nothing of note, save achieving a talent at playing the lute and developing a desire to please his peers.

C: 7
A: 7
S: 3
P: 4

Other Info: Robin has some minor skill with Finesse Weapons, as required of a noble. His small frame also lends itself to his ability to Sneak. He has gained proficiency in the art of music, having a deft hand for the lute and being a fairly good singer.

Also, I'm cashing in on my free dog token:

Did you guys actually decide on being sworn to House Targaryen, or where exactly your keep/hold is located? I don't recall seeing it as being confirmed.

Edit: Robin looks cool! Sickly babe--named Robin--did you...read the books or watch the show? Heh. --Though to be clear, I'd expect that your stating he has 'minor skill' in Finesse weapons (and Sneak!) shouldn't actually translate into mechanically being better with them. Otherwise, I'd like to have Finesse weapons and somethin else as a minor skill too, pls. :P --Doggy! Oh, um, not to be a stickler, but I don't think normal CASPIE can really apply for a dog--I don't see it being fair or sensible for a dog to be any smarter than any PC, or stronger than (most any) PC--PERCEPTIVE, absolutely, but again. I don't think regular CASPIE with the regular amount of points to spend makes sense. A dog as skilled as a nobleman should have their own damned house.

The Rosemonts saved Prince Baelor and were granted their land by the Targaryens, so I assumed they were sworn to them. As for the location, the Reach was considered the best location, but I believe Redgrass Field is located nearby in the Westerlands.

1. Oh... Robert Arryn, the Lord of the Eyrie. I'm going to be honest, I didn't make the connection. I think I might change the name, just to avoid confusion..

2. Epic Spaceman said that the three main skills weren't your only proficiencies, just what you were really talented at. I interpreted that to mean you could include a sort of minor skill set, stuff you're only okay at.

3. I interpret CASPIE to mold to the individual. For example, a 5 year old with a Strength of 10 wouldn't be nearly as strong as a full-grown man with a Strength of 10. Though I admit, I had my doubts when I first typed that up.

If they are sworn to the Targaryens, their lands would be in the Crownlands. ALL people of all houses obey the Targaryen dynasty, but a SWORN house would have to be in their lord's lands. It wouldn't make political, economic, or military sense for a Stark loyalist to be based out of, say, Dorne. Least of all for a Lannister loyalist (in the future) to be based in Dorne, or a Stark based out of the Iron Islands, or the Westerlands. :P Much dead, very ow.

Have to watch my wording. Not a sworn house, just under their rule. I'm wasn't completely sure who ruled the area around Redgrass Field (It wasn't Argilac the Arrogant, was it?) at the time, so I just stated his overall loyalty to House Targaryen.

Well, sure, your tag skills are what you are best at. You can still perform other skills, and everyone will be occasionally doing stuff out of their expertise, but you won't be nearly as good at a non-tag skill, and your proficiency with such will be based solely off of the relevant CASPIE. So, yeah, Robin iiiis going to be fairly good at Agility based stuff like Sneak and Finesse Weapons, but only relative to his Agility. Someone tagged with Sneak and Finesse Weapons may vastly outperform him.

I see no specific mention of where Redgrass Field is, but let me use my thinking brain. The way the wiki describes how the First BF Rebellion played out, I'll assume it's in chronological order, and it sounds that way. The Riverlands were affected, da de da, Lannisport got smacked in the mouth, and then they crossed the Mander, and were defeated not too long after. Crossing the Mander from the north side (on which sits Lannisport and the Riverlands further north), so crossing it south means entering the Reach. So it sounds like it Redgrass Field was in the Reach. The Reach is ruled by the Tyrells, so yeah. Should probably be in the Reach, and the Rosemonts should probably be sworn to the Tyrells. Fittingly. :P A rose on your sigil, and a rose on theirs.

Ooh, this is neat! One of the decisive moments of the battle was when Bloodraven took position on the Weeping Ridge, which overlooked the battlefield, and they rained hell onto the Blackfyres. Maybe your keep should be atop the ridge? It overlooks Redgrass Field. Tactical position. (Granted, Bloodraven's men were decimated there by a last minute charge by the rebels, and Bloodraven lost an eye there.) But still. Tactical position. XP

Exactly.

Looking at the OP again (specifically, right below the heraldry in the Details section), it says that Redgrass Keep is on top of a hill in the Stormlands, just outside of the Kingswood. After the First Blackfyre Rebellion, I think the Baratheons gained control of the Stormlands, but I don't know the fine details.

I think DM should have his say, and if'n he allows it, maybe all your Rosemonts can talk it out amongst yourselves. Or maybe you'll want to defect to House Wendbridge, where we have a location and vassalship that is certain. :D

L5R: The OP is up, guys. Has been for awhile. Guys? D: --If you've lost interest, and/or have been scared off by the OP and/or the character creation, it's okay. In fact, I prefer someone say "sry not interested anymore" rather than just, yknow, for someone to try to silently sneak by unnoticed. XD You won't be put on trial if you aren't interested anymore, I promise. Because YOU WILL BE SENTENCED WITHOUT TRIAL. Jking.

Rosemonts are technically in the Stormlands. I made it more clear in my updated house sheet, but I kind of forgot I hadn't shared that yet. Here it is:
Hold description: Redgrass Keep is located on top of a hill just to the south of the Roseroad and east of the Kingswood. Despite being so close to the Reach, it falls within the Stormlands and so the Rosemonts are sworn to House Baratheon. The keep is a simple motte-and-bailey design, with a circular wooden palisade (reinforced with metal over time) surrounding the courtyard and then the stone keep at the very crest of the hill. The Rosemonts' holdings include a village around the foot of the hill of population about 100, as well as a total of seven local farms. Their lands are fertile and grassy, and they are well-situated by anyone's standard.
But despite being sworn directly to the Baratheons, they have strong ties/are very loyal to the Targaryens since it was Baelor Breakspear whom they saved and who promoted them from knights to lords.
Start the groove.

Unmarried. I know you suggested that an NPC (or, PC?) member of your house be married to a member of mine, but I'd prefer not. Not yet, anyway. I'd like to see what can be RP'd out. Maybe Ser Brandon can land himself a powerful betrothed. XP

Can criminal organisations(minor) be created? e.g. Evil name are a gang of mauranding lollygaggers and lollygag all day in front of House Lannister whilst Tyrone Lannister [&@%!] out gold.

That sounds like an interesting idea, TLD, though you'd probably have to tone it down a bit. Both RPing and the group's activities. Nobles won't take kindly to some uppity commoner being a...well, being a Lodds or a Churkan. :P And if they just openly, outright murder and steal, they would be executed. Hastily.

Obviously, the DM has the final say on that, but I think it would work, given those cautionary warnings.

So no army of the Mountai..... actually, i better not even go into that considering what the Mountain did. And first person to turn it into a Dew reference will get stabbed with extreme dislike.

Also, i am really tempted to do the KOA RP. That and UESP needs an RP where you can truely [&@%!] [&@%!] up then grab the remains and beat the living [&@%!] out of it until you end up doing more damage to yourself then it.

Brutal combat is totally not exclusive to KoA.

I was kinda disappointed by KoA's setting, honestly. I'm a longtime fan of R.A. Salvatore but I was kinda let down. Game was fine I guess, but I expected so much more from the guy that wrote Drizzt.

No Mountain whatsoever. Don't believe he's even born quite yet. And I don't think you're in any moral position to be stabbing anybody over ANY references. :P Quite the opposite.

UESP has got a RP where you can eff ess up. It's called L5R. XP The combat is brutal on both sides.

KoA was hit and miss. Lots of it was great. Lots of it was... ...why do the elves need such ridiculous names? Ljosalfar, Dokkalfar. Humans are Almain and Varani. And then there's just "gnomes". Why.
